    Shakey Steering

OK the Mechanic says I need a 'steering column flex coupler' but there is no listing for this part specific to any Mark VIII let alone a '94. The mechanic could not find a listing so I went to a couple differnt places, NAPPA & Lordco and they could only find listings for just plain Lincoln or...

    Keyless entry Via Door Numbers

OK, call me a slow learner, or whatever else I deserve, but I have locked the keys in my Mark a few times now with various excuses. I have found that the keypad works for entry if I leave the keys on the seat or any place except the ignition. One day I was fiddling before getting out and left...

How many Mark VIII's around your area?

Funny, I live in the outskirts of Vancouver, B.C. Canada, an area called South Delta. I have seen two black ones a red one, a pearl white one and a blue one in the two years I have had mine and we all travel around the South Delta area. I also travel daily into the big city and have never seen...

    Suggestions on 16" Tire Sizes

Toyo Proxes T1R are one of the few that come in 245/55/R16, and this size is almost exactly the same diameter as stock. Anyone have any experience with them.

    Tire Size

For what it is worth, I once read that the rim width should not be less than 80% of the tire width. In our case the 7 inch rim is 177.8mm which is 79% of the 225mm tire width. The reason cited for this was that it would result in squiggly/noodly sidewalls and poor cornering. So theoretically...

    Air Ride Switch

OK, After reading through all those search threads I have come to the conclusion that I must have a vent solenoid problem. "Check Air Ride" comes on when I get above 100kph/60mph. I can stop, turn off the car, then start it again, run system check and it comes up "Air Ride OK" it only comes on...

    Ahhhh!!!!! Wtf!!!!!! Help!!!!

Does anyone know if those rebuilds come without the faults of the original tranny, excepting Geno's though, cause we know his are the new & improved version.

    Best choice

Your gettin off easy $$$ After just over a year of having mine the tranny was giving me more grief than I needed so I broke down, bit the bullet and paid through the nose, $1600.00 Cdn plus installation set me back close to 2K with tax for a new rebuilt tranny that suposedly includes Jmod and...

    The Value of a Classic

This is from an article printed in today's Vancouver Sun Driving Section (Pacific Northwest). It may not be a Mark VIII but the 1970, 71 or 72 Plymouth Barracuda has turned into one high priced car. Twenty years ago it may have only generated 20-25K but today they command well over 100K.There...

    Kooks Headers! Hmmm...

Yea...I'd like to know too! Do those cats enhance air care passing? Always wondered what the gains would be with the full meal deal of headers, LMS Xpansion and all the way out to the new muffler system?

    New rebuild & still broke

Well, I was told it's time to replace the transmission, the bands were slipping and it kept down shifting between 80-100 kph for no reason. So I get this new rebuilt transmission, supposedly includes shift kit & j-mod although the mechanic told me he did pretty much the equivilent of a j-mod on...

Is there a wider tire I could put on the 16 inch wheel

I am no expert by any stretch, but 95LSC 2FAST4U sounds very well informed and logical. I read somewhere that the rim should be no less wide than 80% of the tire width and 7" is 79% of 225mm if you do the math (7inches = 177.8mm). Anything less and you will begin to experience performance issues...

Where On Earth... Which Direction Am I Go'n???

RedWing: The magnetic north pole is a bit south east of the true north pole. Depending on where you live the variation or declination can vary. In the Pacific Northwest it is off by 19.5 degrees east. If you happen to live near the line of longtitude that passes from the true north down thru...

Where On Earth... Which Direction Am I Go'n???

Forget the circling routine, Find a street that you know for sure runs True North & South, park facing North and follow the manual for setting it that way, worked for me, besides the circling method will get you magnetic north instead of true north, park the car & set it.

    255-50-16

255 on a 16 inch rim? I once read on another thread that the rim should never be less than 80% of the width of a tire or you may experience noodly or squiggly tires especially when cornering. The 7 inch stock rims on stock 225's tires works out to 79% which is borderline. 7 inches is 177.8 mm...

Is the Mark Vlll A Classic

Classic??? Not too long ago, sometime in 2005, one of the members here posted that the 95 Mark VIII was recently listed and pictured in Barnes & Nobles Classic Cars. I looked while at the magazine stand and sure enough it was there!:)

    Dummy at the gas station

Octanes? "dude, i always have 85 octain in my Mark and i take Rustang GT's like nothing...." Where does anyone get 85 octane? Up here in the Pacific Northwest 30 minutes north of the 49th parallell we have 87, 89, 92 but there are certain Chevron stations that have 94. It is sold by the...

Some people just don't do their homework

It's what ever the market will bear. You guys sound a little too cynical about the value of your cars. I bought my '94 last February for $2500.00 and everyone I talked to said I stole it for that price. So I did some web searching for other Mark 8's in Canada and found they were selling for...
