Is the Mark Vlll A Classic

Of course they will especially when you have youngbucks thinking it's the best design Ford ever came up with.

I'm going to have to agree with Wilson on this one. A 79 El Camino is totally not a classic.

Will the Mark VIII be a classic? Hold your breath real good, because the early 80s Lincolns are 25+ years old now, and none of them are even remotely desirable. If they do get to become classics, I think that only those of us under the age of 25 will ever live to see it.
You can't base crap on that, no good cars came from that era. A classic car has to be compared to cars from that time.

Mr. Wilson! Maybe 16-20 year old mustang owners might not recognize marks. But everytime I cruise, older guys pull up next to me in their new and old mach's Gt's etc. nod to me or say "hey kid!, nice car!". The younger group of mustang owners think that they're the sh1t and old grandpa cars dont appeal to them, which is their reason behind buying a mustang. Its a young hip car that everybody recognizes even if they arent associated with cars in any way.

im 19 and i hate mustangs. yeah they are a performance car, but everyone and their brother has one. you cant go anywhere without seeing at least a dozen. i only see a few marks every great once in a while. the mark gives you preformance as well as luxury. i have only had my mark for a few months, but i love it. my mom has an 04 mustang and i hate the thing. i know alot of younger people with mustangs and they dont know anything about the mark. some of the kids i know thought that i put the 4.6 dohc in the car. they kept telling me that ford didnt build it till 96. all of these mustang guys need to know where the dohc mod motors came from.

Thanks for standing up for me MarkVIII93 :D I am 41, {not young and not old} also a Mustang owner since 1992, and I still think the Mark VIII is THE best looking car to roll out of Fords doors. IMHO.

Pimps drive mark 8's, and pimps are classic. In turn that makes mark8's immediate classics. Give it up for pimps and hoes, they make our cars great!
(recalling a long time ago when i saw an ad in autotrader for a mark8 that a porno was shot in :) )

The guy did that as a joke, it never actually happened.

The Mark was the best car ever built by ford in the lincoln line never again has there been a car come close to the mix of luxury and performance that the mark 8 ofers and never will there be. the mark is already becoming a classic more and more are they becoming harder to find and people are only asking more for them as the years go by.not to mention the thousands of proud mark owners like us all over. I love my mark and will never part with it so what defines a classic anyway. no the mark may not be as popular but thats why for alot of us its one of the reasons we love them there sleepers....go ahead step on it Ill BLOW YOU AWAY!!!!!!! he he

they are not sleepers, they just have the potential to be. 15 second car is NOT a sleeper, its sleeping. Now, those of yall that have 13 second marks, THOSE are sleepers. They have done much work to them to get there though. Props to the 13 second club.

Any car that is at most 13 years old is not a classic. How many cars from the 80s can even be considered classics?

I'll still have mine when it is a classic, already treat it like it is. THAT will seperate us, those who DO think it is a classic, or going to be, and those of you who DON'T, you 'll get rid of yours and just move on. Of coarse thats just one mans opionion, I'm just a big car lover that has almost every car I ever owned still in my pocession.

That fact that we are having this debate, the fact that this forum exhists, and the fact that some of us sub-30 people (I'm 22) plan on keeping our cars for life (you'd have to kill me to get it), means this car has great potential in the future. To me, classic or not, the Mark VIII is timeless. Now, its pure opinion as to whether or not its THE best looking car Ford ever made (whoever said that I totally agree with you though), but its still truly beautiful and undisputably unique. In 15 years if you still have a Mark in prime condition you'll turn heads, and thats classic enough for me.

Grand Nationals are definitely classics.

A "sleeper" is a car that is faster than it looks. If a mid 80s Chevy Astro conversion van with pop top schooled your Mark VIII, I'd consider it a sleeper, even if it ran a 15-flat. Sleeper is not car specific.

Man i love'em both Mark and the Mustang. but i will always choose the Mark to purchase 1st because its style and sneaky power that it hides so well. but the mustang will always be my favorite muscle car.

77'-78' T/A's are classics for sure. I have one sitting in my garage. Its a bandit edition without T-Tops, one of few to be made.....

Classic???

Not too long ago, sometime in 2005, one of the members here posted that the 95 Mark VIII was recently listed and pictured in Barnes & Nobles Classic Cars. I looked while at the magazine stand and sure enough it was there!:)

78-79 Pontiac Firebirds go for a lot of money and are definitely classics.
