well.... i need my music! radio help?

ah, too much info at one time..... LOL

im not looking to upgrade speakers, or amps just yet. and i have no clue how to do so. im just looking to do the head unit. and i think im going to let me Best buy do it for me. :D

anyone want to give me a run down on how to re-wire and add amps/subs...

It would be a little hard to just give a rundown on all the wiring but most of it is common sense. Get the aftermarket harness that's needed for your 95 that will allow you to install an aftermarket stereo. After that, don't use anymore of the factory wiring. Run your own all new wiring. It's more time consuming than it is hard.

Does yours have the premium sound system or the normal? Do you have tweeters at the top of your door panels or no? Same question, just two different ways of asking.

Is there much of a difference switching from stock vs a 14 gauge wire instead? I ask because as i believe my wires are oem and I tried one speaker with a 14 gauge sound wire and didn't hear much of a difference.(I'm not sure if all of them were to be replaced would it sound more crisp) I gave up since it was going to be too hard replacing the front wire speakers... just asking if it is worth it.

i'll get a few pics up after dinner but its the same as terry's. i can say that my set up has some of the most crisp sound i have ever heard in a car, if i put the volume around 20-22 my ears want to bleed and my compass module falls off the rear view everytime. i just had the thing cranked on the way home from my shop and i have such a ring right now lol. the only thing i want to do to mine is update my subs to something a little harder hitting i currently run two 10 inch JL 10W0's i got from terry. my interior speakers are all infinity refference components in factory locations including the tweeters.
here are some as i was installing it. the amp is actually hidden behind the box though i made an amp rack for it and was gonna mount it in front of the box like in the pics but i decided to hide it.

ok, so im looking at picking up a alpine INA-W900BT. now, before i start ripping out my dash, will this fit? Thanks,

ok, hopefully will be picking one up this weekend! :D *hopefully, my phone decided to commit suicide.

what all would i need to fit this head unit in? i need the wiring adapters, and?

also, speaking of phones, how do i get my car phone to work? i know i need to upgrade the board, but what needs to be updated/replaced.

You talking about the original car phone? If so, that thing is dead for life now. Analog is gone.

yea i was talking about the car phone. theres nothing i can do to get it to work?

No, that thing is a dead cause. I trashed the one that came in the 93 and the 94. They're analog and they don't use that technology anymore for cell phones. T-Mobile, at&t are GSM 850/1900Mhz and Verizon, Sprint are CDMA technology.

Does the Alpine you're getting not have it's own mic and bluetooth capabilities for hands free talking? I didn't read the specs on yours but I'm sure if mine has it, one like you're getting would have it for sure.

If you have that antenna on the back window, take a putty knife and get under it. Use the palm of your hand to hit the handle of the knife and pop off that antenna. Makes the back window look a lot better. The inside can be done the same way. Disconnect the wire from it and stuff it under the headliner.

those fell off years ago. i still have them, i just dont use them.

but i still looking around for a radio, im looking at that alpine, and a Pioneer ACIV-930BT. or an older AVIC-D3

i think im going to run the mic and button for the old phone, to the new head unit. also going to run an ipod wire to where the phone use to be.

Thoughts?

I don't know anything about wiring into the old mic and button with new head units. The mic for mine is clipped to my visor and no button is needed. If it's paired, the head unit answers on it's own in 8 seconds. Now I have it set for 10 seconds. I can dial a number and call with the remote or just call from the phone and it automatically goes to the head unit and volume goes down and then the phone sound is there.

As for the ipod wire, I'm also going to run mine into the console. A lot of people have done that on here. I'm a wire hater. Can't stand for any wires to be hanging around.

yea, i have the same thing. they have to be out of sight out of mind LOL.

i think im going to go with pioneer AVIC-930BT

Has the mic with it and then no need in messing with a 16 year old mic and all the wiring mess involved. I think I might have 2" of mic wire showing but you really have to be looking for it and I'm able to flip my visor down and move it in any direction. You'll have plenty of wire to play with and put it where you want it. I'm assuming anyway. I don't know what Pioneer offers. I'm strictly a Kenwood eXcelon person. Seeing how I don't travel, I don't have any need for navigation. I have one for the window if the time came up and I did need it.

DVD would be nice if waiting in the car on someone but as for me, I wouldn't get any use out of it. That's why I went with the KDC-X993 and a Metra insert for the double din sized opening. It's all about the brand you like and the options that you really think you'll make use of and the money you want to spend.

the only thing is that i hate double dins. they just look after marker. (agreeing with laser) i just love the look that the huge screen gives it.

I agree, I like the screen look better. I just know I would never really use any of it. That was the reason I went with the style of Kenwood eXcelon single din that I did because it doesn't really stand out with silver colors and off sided knobs. It's all black with an even look on both sides and able to be set to match dash light colors.

how long did it take to put it in, and how much did it cost for all the parts?

It's going to vary because I put in new door and rear speakers and installed 2 amps in the trunk. I ran 2 gauge wire from the battery to the trunk and into a JL Audio distribution block and then 4 gauge to each amp back there. All speakers inside were all rewired when the new ones went in, plus the stereo install.

Metra is the kit I used to drop down from a double to a single din. Seems like it was right at $18 for that. Took about 10 minutes or less to get it in and seated right and then wiring the deck in didn't take long. In my case, I have about 2 days worth of time in mine but I took a lot of breaks lol.

lol, well i decide on a head unit finally. i was looking for something with out navigation, but with a touch screen. and i found it. looking at picking up a AVH-P3200bt and thats my final decision. LOL i like it, i played around with the unit at best buy for a while. :D 2 thumbs up! new i just need to get the wiring adapters. anyone have a link handy? cruchfield?

LOL, hey nolimit where did you find the adapter for the mk Viii radio harness? i cant find it on crutchfield.com
