well.... i need my music! radio help?

I to like my oem setup..But there is 0 bass. Only thing it's good for is treble-highs..Which is all i need it for..

My parents cars(07&09) with there basic gm stereos sound better overall but dont quite get as loud.

true true, my sister has a POS ford ranger 08. and that sounds better them my sound system. but its not any where near as loud as the Lincoln is

yeah, i've seen old dying head units make lots of background noise. replacing with another stock radio to keep the cd changer is an easy option.

yea, im haveing a hard time finding one though :(

Oh well then Virginia sucks! Would he do that over a radio? And why does he not want you to change the car, is it a super low mileage or just him being stuck in his ways? If anything go ahead and start buying audio equipment and wait until you are 18 to install it, then he has no say.

For brands I love Alpine hands down, but I must say I needed a cheap cd player this time and picked up a single din Pioneer on sale for $50 and I love it. Just go to crutchfield like they said and look at the ones they say fit your car, then pick the one you think looks the best and has the features you are looking for.

dont get me started on Virginia law. im curently studying law in school (just a high school level) and traffic laws... if your cough doing 80mph or over, thats wreckless driving. and a speeding ticket. and if your cough going over 90. you get throw in jail... ah (end rant)

my guess going to a aftermarket system is not going to solve that problem...I have a factory service manual that the dealers used for these cars...I will look in my book to see what the trouble shooting is for that problem...I highly recommend you go on Ebay to find one for your car...I think mine was $40.

yes, that was the first thing i bought for the car. :D

i have one for a 1994 if anyone wants it. (got the wrong year)

if you can find one with green lighting i think it would be better. i put a green something (old alpine maybe?) in dads diesel, and the matching green looks very good.

well im trying to find one i can turn off the led's en till night at least.

mine is for a 93 model and I own a 94...should still be useable.

well the only thing is that there slight changes between 94 and 95. radio, just little things. and the cd changer changed (i found out the hard way) :(

your dad is in his 60's and you are only 17???? god dammmmmmmmmmmmm. my dad is 65 and i am 34 i thought my old man was a little on the old side when he had me hell. if you bought the car and you truely pay for every aspect of it, tell him to keep his opinions to himself. if my pops ever told me what i could and couldnt do with something i bought myself i would have put him on his ass!! thats no joke either me and my old man had some bad ones back in the day, i love my dad to death now totally different person, although now i am the dick that i always thought my dad was, splitting image am i?

ahah, yea me and my dad get into some bad fights.... oh, i have younger siblings :D LMAO....

i dont care. ill be 18 in a couple of months. and it wont matter too too much...

Well on my 97, last week I called Crutchfield for a wire harness for my aftermarket install, and they do not have one listed, and they do not even carry the install kit. I was shocked and hung up and called again thinking the person I was talking to did not know jack. But the second call to them confirmed it, they do not list the 97 VIII in their inventory for support. So I went on E-Bay and got the right harness and install kit for like 20.00 total. I have a D.Din unit and a 10 disk changer in great shape and not being used.

I just changed my head unit and kept the JBL amped OEM setup, being the age I am, I have no issues with it and sounds great, hell with all that "I can not hear you syndrome" because my stereo made me deaf crap.

And the only reason for the new head unit was for my satellite setup for the aux input.

Yeah..I have my substage so it doesn't effect me to much. But 1 day i'm going to put in the oem speakers from my marquis(6x8)..Those thing are alot nicer then the Lincoln cough cough jbl ones they put in the marks..Alot Bigger magnet and better mid's/bass..Though i would like to see what the oem amp limits them too with all the built in x-over cut off's and such.
I guess another g1 mark owner put in some from a crown vic and said they def picked up the bass better..Guess i'll find out..

You can get them from other places ... go to scoche http://www.scosche.com/ and locate the part then search for it on line....

That is exactly what I did, Scoshe is higher in price, and that is why I ran the same part numbers thru E-Bay and paid a quarter of the price, and both had free shipping I beleive too. I paid 2.99 for the harness setup and 5.99 for the install kit.

yea, the only reason im even considering replacing mine. is 1. my radio is about to die. and 2 i want a aux port.

any one with a good double din radio that is in perfect working order. send me a offer.

Thanks alot guys!

post 69 LOL!!! (get over it, im a teen LOL)

i thought you meant post of the thread..Thought you might've been having visuals.

Check out the single din that me and Jamie both have. It's a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X993 and it has the ability to change colors to match exactly what your dash lights look like in the green color. Color number 7 I think it is. It also has bluetooth capabilities so you can talk on the phone hands free and it has a USB cable for your iPod or w/e you want to connect to it. It has very good sound and a million settings for everything. Main thing, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I can get some pics of mine while I have the dash lights on and then you can show ole dad and see if he says it looks like sh!t or not. Jamie will probably post his too. It has what you're looking for and then some.

$179 to $229

Says discontinued but they can still be found new. You'll also need to get a (I prefer Metra) brand double din install kit and it fits in there like a glove.
Metra Electronics Radio Install Kit

Part Number: 99-5802 You can even read text messages from the deck. You don't have to but if you get in the car with the bluetooth turned on, it starts downloading all of your contact info and messages without you having to do anything. If a call comes in, you don't even have to touch anything. 2 to 3 rings and it answers itself, the volume mutes and you just say "hello" and they can not tell you are talking to them through a stereo and their voice comes through all of your speakers in the car.

This is a sideways glance of it but I'll get you a pic of it with lighting to show that it matches to a "T" in color and it doesn't look odd. Comes with a nice velvet face cover if you want to take it in the house with you.

On a related note, it is not advisable to Google images search "69+dude" with SafeSearch off.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, i bet you didnt get what you where looking for LOL. :bowrofl:

hahah i think it is. now will this head unit allow me to use my CD changer in the trunk? im thinking not. but hey, ill ask.

Used head units go for cheap on craigslist.
Save you money for a speaker upgrade.

Buy used head unit install new speakers, re wire the whole thing.
It will sound 100% better then your stock 16 year old system.

Stock is old and out dated.

Only a Kenwood CD changer but with an iPod connected to the USB, who would need one?

Yes, that is the remote for that stereo lol. It's really not as big as it looks. I have a thinner style from a previous eXcelon. Thinner than a cell phone and not quite as big but that one doesn't get in the way. I can also use that remote to dial a number and call someone without taking the phone out of my pocket. I can't with the thin one because it has no call button on it. Below will give you an idea of colors and functions it has.
