well.... i need my music! radio help?

i have a set of u hooks! YES, one special tool that i need that i have. :D

took my radio out because i was getting what i though was interference so i grounded the case... didnt work.

no its all electronic interference from the engine. when i turn on my turn signal, i hear a hi pitch sqeal every time the light turns on, and every time i hit my brake.

when i put a new amp in, can i put it back in the same place? and can i leave all the wiring the same and just run a new amp? or will i have to do a total overhaul of the electronics soon.

Please disconnect all factory wiring and run your own. The door speakers might be the hardest but it's not that bad. I wouldn't put any aftermarket amp in the stock location. Plenty of room in the trunk up next to the seat for flat mounting it.

I have never installed or seen the need for a DD kit in a Mark VIII. You just use the cage the deck comes with and the trim ring the deck comes with. I dont see how a DD kit could even work for a DD deck.

well the din that im looking at getting dosnt come with a cage. i dont even think that any DD comes with a cage. but i need it so there is some way to fasten to the dash.

i found a double din kit for the MK VIII!!!!

going to order that, and order my harness, and my radio comes in soon! :D

also, my mic and my hands free button that are in the car work. just found out my unlock code for the old phone and tested it. so im just going to wire it all up to that :D

Used that same kit on my AVIC-D3.
Once you slide it in, be prepared to break it out of your dash if you ever must remove it.. (And once it's been removed, good luck getting it back in properly if you broke the sub-dash..)

The bottom piece looks absolutely stupid in place, for what it's worth, and more than likely won't even stay where you put it as there is nothing for it to snug up against..

I used the old single din mounting kit that came in the car to create a "buffer" below the head unit as there is quite a bit of space left if you follow the kits instructions exactly.

There pretty much is nothing else to help you get a double din mounted though. (except the "stock cage," but I've never received a double din head unit with a mounting cage or trim ring yet. From my D3 to Z3s, what the heck pioneer?) And the price is right on the kit. With enough time and effort you can make it look pretty schnazzy.

What head unit did you decide to settle on?

i remember watching you video on youtube.

i think ill take the cage from a 1997-98 mk Viii and cut the front of and mount it in there. ill keep you updated. i dont like the idea of not getting the unit out. ive desided on a AVH-P3300BT. i dont want navigation, i know where im going or i can look it up in a map. im just looking for a great music head unit, this one has bluetooth, and ipod, and SD card slot.

If you buy a new one, it should come with a cage already slid onto the deck itself. The stock deck don't have a cage. If the new one don't have one, something is wrong.

While some dont have a cage thats when you do an ISO DIN mount. Well make one really. You get 4 small "L" brackets and bolt them to the ISO DIN holes on the side of the deck. You slightly open the inner hole on the car and position the deck how you like it then just run a screw into the dash on each L bracket. When you put the wood bezel back on the deck can be made to sit perfect and the brackets will not be seen. Plus the deck will have a very secure mount.

Shifter bezel first. It pops off but be careful and keep all the tabs attached as you remove that. Once that's off, you'll find 2 screws holding the bottom on and the rest is just snapped in.

ok going to be doing the install friday or saturday. need to call advanced and see if they have that harness in stock. and need to pick up some L brackets.

yep, going to stop by my local home depot and pick up some L brackets on the way home from class tomorrow. i need to see if i can find some hight adjustable ones. so i can move the radio up and down to get the radio in there perfect.

well i got started today. went threw my book and looked at all the stock wiring
