LaserSVT 98 White Pearlescent Progress Thread

Why do I get the feeling you crashed your other car on purpose............. J/K man but this car REALLY looks clean! Looks like you got yourself a dreamer! Love the color & that it's an LSC! Start swapping those parts!

The car is not sensor lowered and is a little higher then my 97 is. I will be ordering an ASHAM for it but that causes another issue as the ASHAMs beauty ring is for a first gen and I dont want to mount it in the ash tray anyway.

are you gonna use the asham to raise the car all

i ask because, being your new to air, id recommend sensor lowering it then just get a ray's switch if you just planning on slamming it when you park. also align it when its sensor lowered so you dont smoke the new tires

No, my goal was to raise it some for these back roads and then drop her down for the highway runs. I just put on my Saleens and I cant go over 45 on the roads here now. :( When the car lowers itself the rears rub over these dips we have all around. Gonna see about getting the fenders rolled tomorrow.
If I had the ASHAM then I could get around it but the guy has not returned my email yet.

Sure looks nice with the Saleens. :D

BTW, I am retarded and do not know how to use the search function.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the cup holders? I want to swap them out but have no idea how it all comes apart, I hope the whole console does not have to come out. :(
Also need to fix the spring for the lid too.

Tomorrow after I get something else taken care of.

I also spent an hour or so scraping all the rubberized stuff off the ignition bezel and door handle bezels since it was all messed up.
Gonna have to find a new switch pannel in the dash. Mine is peeling in multiple spots and if I took off the coating then I would lose the buttons descriptions. :(

I took off the coating of my old gray one and it looks nice cleaned up without the letters try it out.

Did that on my 93 - removed coating and buffed the plastic - don't need no stinkin' descriptions! :D

I say just ditch the air ride and throw in the suspension from your old mark and put the air suspension in the old one.

Negative. I kinda like it and all the bags (except drivers front) are new. I am still getting used to it though.
Yesterday I was sitting in it, car had been off for an hour or so. I was stitting with the drivers door open for about 8-9 minutes while I was pealing the grey stuff off the ignition bezel and all the sudden the compressor kicked it and the car went up about an inch.
No key in the ignition and I had the door open for all that time. Is that normal?

Yes, that's normal. Mine would do that all the time. I was actually thinking that the air ride was active for 45 min after the car is off. Anyway, mine would move after setting around for close to an hour. I think just the front raises but it does vent itself again as far as I know.

I like the moon roof Laser. To me, it looks like a better install than the factory. I like the inside and the outside of the roof. I would rather have that moon roof than the factory one from the looks of it.

So since this is my progress thread then here is some progress. Cleaned her up and added the Saleens.
Discovered when the car lowers itself for highway speeds the rears rub kinda bad on every bump. Gonna have to find a shop to roll the fenders but untill then I waited for the air ride to pump up and then I shut it off. Seems to work, no rub at all.

The passenger seat is stuck. It works but will only go back half way and the tracks/gears are clean and clear with no chips. I havent a clue why. The seat will move me when I am trying to make it stop but then it gets half way and just stops.

I replaced the passenger side switches so now that looks better. Shampood the carpet and matts. Ordered a new center console controll pannel thats not worn. And am about to order a new seatbelt for the passenger side. The one it has is stuck in the release position and I cant see anything stuck inside it.

Braces and sway bar will go on this weekend and next weekend I will install my new Cobra brake kit :wrench

Here are a couple shots. Some with a keen eye may notice something weird about the brakes. Not the calipers mind you, they will be custom painted with the Lincoln star on them. :D

Both lefties?

Will you also be installing the aftermarket cat?

you know what, the green you had is a nice color, but that white with the speedstars just looks mean. just lower the car a little and black out the windows you'll be set. glad to see your quick turn around, it will be easier now to not feel so bad about the green mark. now you have a new canvas!! good job man. she cleaned up real nice too!

Yup thats one thing about the rotors. There is something else, look closer.
For some reason the company sent me two sets of front rotors. I emailed them and they just said to keep them. Cool place for sure.

And that high flo cat was custom ordered! Should make the exhaust purrrrr. :p

Thanks. I want to black out the windows but its so much more expensive when they have to remove the old tint. I had planned on swapping rear windows so I could have the nice seal but none of the portable guys wanted to do it of drive this far out. :(
So after I get the tuner in and the ASHAM8 (wish the dude would email me back) then I may go ahead and retint the windows. Just had the safety done so its the perfect time to do 5% :D

Those brakes are going to look sweet on that car always loved white cars with bright red calipers, just think it looks mean and clean.

Where did you get that power bleeder? I have a chitty autozone one that barely works.

The bleeder is from apexperformance.com and was $58. I always wanted one of these. :D

The brakes are not going to be red. I am going for that subdued look. They will be metallic silver with the Mark VIII Lincoln Star badge in black.

Oh ya, different patterns / holes.

Ha! I love it when companies mess up and let you keep extra stuff! (happened to us over Xmas - got to keep 2 gift hampers for free)

I am thinking of sensor lowering the front about a half inch if thats even possiable. The rear sits where I like it when its in park mode or high speed mode (still need to roll fenders in rear) but the front sits too high for my taste and when it raises it looks like a DONK.

Gonna do the sway and braces today as well as fix the seat but I may be a popsicle by then and not want to mess with the front sensors.

i agree w/ jaimie.
while the green car was nice,
the combo you have now is f'nsweeeet!

bring it over, do it now.
just jump in and point it south
dont think, jus do it!

I am at work now and will be for another hour then I have to go home and fix the seat and add the suspension parts and fix the cup holder and see about sensor lowering the front a tad.
Then tomorrow I have to remove all my stereo stuff from the 97 so I can sell the car.
BUT what about next Saturday? I could leave straight from work and take 35 down. Ill bring that thing and we can do our thing and get some beers. ... ..... that sounded ghey...

What kind of beer? And damn I wish there was someone around here with a Mark. I am like all alone :(.

So I just spent 6 hours in this damn cold ass weather working on my new cause of pain and suffering. Well actually it was 7 hours but I am not counting the two times I took a break so I could stop the bleeding.
I swapped the cup holders out... what a PITA!! The colord piece is glued in place to the holder assembly so I couldnt just change covers and swap them over. I had to break the glue apart and use some CA plastic glue to get them back together, I also managed to break a tab that holds a spring so one side wouldnt flip out. I rigged it though and modded the cover to clear the screw I put in. Works great and now I can have a drink in teh car. :D
Also swapped the spring for the console lid and then found where that little string was that hooks to the glove box dampner and got that hooked back up so the box operates smoothly.
After all that I worked on the seat. It appears the sensor on the motor is broken and wobbles around so it limits the seats travel. I swapped out the track with the 97's and that corrected it. Also the passenger seat belt reciever was broken but when I had the track upside down some glass fell out of the latch. So I shook the rest out and the seat belt now works again. :)
That led to the next problem of the seat belt not wanting to come off the track and I didnt want a tan one in the car.
I had to use my Ingrosol 3/4 impact with the pressure at 150psi to break that bastage loose. But finnaly got that done too.
After that I swapped out that C&L MAF and open filter to my stock box from the 97 and stock MAF.
Then I removed the SCP braces from the 97 to install on the 98 but it ot too dark and way too damn cold to continue on.
Tomorrow I will sensor lower the front, install the braces and the Addco sway bar. For now I am freakin beat!

Ahhh, the joys of Mark ownership.

The sensor on the end of the center motor was what went bad. Looks like a PITA to swap though so I just swapped tracks.
IMGP0458.jpg

Here you can see where the two parts seperate for the cup holder. I reglued those black spots. You can also see my ghetto spring fix. :p

So after 7 hours and an amazing amount of blood I have a working seat, working cup holders, working console spring, working dampner on the glove box and a stock air box. :D
