Gen 1 Headlight Project w/ HID install

yes terry the halogen housings use 9005 bulbs for low and high, so order your new kit, and stick the 6000k's in the high beam.

Keep a fire extinguisher handy, just in case, Terry. :D

Just a J/k.

Mind, I do think it's a good idea to have a compact extinguisher mounted in a vehicle. I had a Ford Escort saloon, many moons ago, that burst into flames while I was driving! - never did find out why, but an extinguisher would have been handy. :)

I can assure you that I do have one ready to go in the car. It's small and compact and it will be inside the car somewhere. I don't want it to be out in the open but then again, maybe I do. :)

Hello Mark VIII ownrs

93' Blue on blue you have made a very interesting modification, but owr law it is forbidden to do .

Somebody tried to make present HID, for example to cut in headlights module light like this: Hella 1BL 009 071-047

PS Sorry for my english )

Oh, I'm sure modifying any vehicle's OEM lighting is illegal in many countries. You've just got to use some common sense and see 'what you can get away with'

To be honest, if you keep things mild, you should have no trouble with cops and if/when it comes around to inspection time, just switch out the bulbs for the standard ones. (takes 5 minutes)

93' Blue on blue thanks a lot for advice, but a problem much more.

Russian cops can stop me  when I on my ride and check my license and HID too. The next is The russian :q:q:q:q:q ing court takes away my license to year :(

I know that is :q it, but it is truth.

Ah, OK - sucks!

Well, I guess you could re-chrome the insides of your housings, polish up the lenses and fit either regular halogen bulbs or maybe those HIR type bulbs? (I think they'd be legal)

Yes it legal, but in night nothing to view.:(
I has already bought HID housings from 96, to cut module lenses hella. I think it only one way to make good legal xenon light on our Mark VIII like bmw:)

All the more reason to move to the USA. Over here you can have headlights and keep your license.

When are you cut off lenses from housing, are you use only Dremel, or before heart up this housing? (for example in microwave or oven)
see to yours first foto

Use the Dremel by itself, do not heat the housing. Especially do not heat it in the microwave.

Ya, just a rotary tool with those black reinforced cutting discs on a quite low speed. Go slow and steady.

Don't heat up the housing at all! (that's how I ruined my first set)

One problem I'm having is when i go to lock the doors with the remote it flash's the HID"s as well as the LED"s I know this cant be good for the HID's.

My headlights dont flash when i lock the doors or arm the alarm. my horn beeps. does everyone elses lights flash when they do this? or is it just my car thats we Todd did?

Mine does that as well.. I know I have an aftermarket remote start setup though. Hot strikes are bad, but I doubt it will take much life from the bulbs. To fix it, you'd have to trace the aftermarket system to find where exactly it powers the ballasts...

well mine is not aftermarket... i always noticed it just a slight unnoticeable flash with the halogen bulbs. Once i put the HID's in when i press the lock button twice as the same time the horn blows they fully flash for a split second. And i also put LED's in the rear and now they flash as well. I'll post a youtube video one of these days.

Mine does the same thing with two pushes of the button. I don't live where there are break ins so I just do a single push and listen for the lock sound. That quick strike really isn't hurting anything and it is normal for most.
