Right here ;)
ok - JD has pity on me and sells me Tux back (he has that HUGE truck after all) for two weeks the air ride has been fine, compressor fine, spyder valve fine, raise/lower fine...then all the sudden the compressor starts running the entire 90 seconds and sounds TERRIBLE (no raising occurs), right after it shuts off the check air ride comes on? I check the valve under the hood, it reads ZERO air pressure...?? Should I put air in???

forgot to add he looks to be sitting at normal height, maybe a little lower. He has not been slammed but don't want to wait till that happens.... AND I just checked the valve again, now it reads 163.... he is gonna make me nuts. but still looks a smidge low...

I did search, but no guidance on should I put air in? Checked bags they seem to be holding air fine... Wondering if I should go to a shop and have them lift the body off the frame, maybe a pinch some where??? I DUNNNOO...

:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang:Bang

I gotta go to the gym then run 4, I will be back, thanks in advance!!!!

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!
THE GAUGE WASN'T ON ZERO IT WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT!!!!!

Or should I say is!!!!! After I posted this thread, I thought since he looks to be sitting ok, let me sit in the trunk and see what happens thinking the compressor should come on, but nope. I shut him off, opened closed door, waited a few, then turned him over air compressor comes on, full 90 seconds and then the check air message. So I checked the gauge again and it is hammered to the right!!!!!!!!!!! holy crap!!! He is gonna blow up!

Or... For some reason the pump is building pressure but it isn't going anywhere. As in, a solenoid at a bag isn't opening when the car is trying to inflate that bag. That would explain sitting low, loud pump, and pegged pressure gauge.

So you are saying that a solenoid can actually get stuck in the closed position? Maybe thats whats been going on w/mine.

Thanks Hotties! oh gesh.... well I think JD is looking out for me and has already got two bags, I think I have some solenoids around here... and O rings....

I turned off the air ride, went to gym then park, he was low in the front after about 2 hours. Turned it back on compressor ran again for 90, barely raised front end couldn't notice it, of course after 90 the check air msg came on... and gauge is either at 0 or hammered.... I think it is hammered. I gotta ride out to buckeye lake, we shall see what happens...

thanks again for the info, I know I can't get to the two front solenoids today, but I will try, I will check back in!...

SMOOCHES HOTTIES!!!!

The never ending air ride battle...sounds like
No fun..hope you get it worked out..you don't wanna know my advice on the subject :P

The gauge should only read when the compressor is running. I don't know what the highest reading on the gauge is, but 160+ lbs sounds unreasonably high. I would suspect that something is causing the air bag solenoids to not open and close correctly. The bags leaking is also suspicious (aren't these your new ones?) Could it be from the Ray Switch? Call Eddie to check on gauge reading.

Ooo, ooo, ooo! Or a restricted air drier (the black canister where the air lines connect to the pump). I had that one, drove me crazy till I figured it out.

CRAP CRAP CRAP!! his nose is suckn pavement............ CRAP!!!!

OK, how do I check the air dryer and by restricted do you mean lines pinched somewhere?

CRAP!!

Thanks Hotties!

Yeah, I cant send those newer bags to JD till Tuesday. Had he sent a postal money order as instructed then they would be on the way today. Unfortunatly Monday is a holiday but they should be there before the week is out.

That black canister is full of desiccant, it can get completely stopped up. I pulled it off and tried to blow through, and suck air through the compressor side once I removed it. You can open it up and gut it, since you have a spider valve...

it wont sit in the bowls? I need to pull the splash shield n eyeball them... this is stupid...

He is just sitting out there.... nose to the ground... my poor baby... My garage has a raised platform at the back of it, when I pull Tux in, his nose is right over it. I had to back him into the garage because he wouldn't clear the 4" platform where his nose sits, Mike, I prayed the whole time I backed in that I wouldn't scrape the sides!!!!! My garage is SMALL!!!

thanks so much laser!!!! and thanks Dan, and thanks Ultimate, and thanks Roadboss (thanks for the comforting call too ;), and Saph & 1&only - Tux will have bags as long as you do!

SMOOCHES!!!

Debi

Roadboss called me up and we have tried a few things... nothing worked. Jacked him up (talk about fun... thanks so much for the mini ramps Roadboss!!!! they are a life saver!) to see if we could trip the sensors, nothing... Gauge went up to 200, then it works it's way down to around 160, compressor won't run a third cycle, shuts off after two full cycles cause it thinks it's full I guess. I just love Tux... but times like this can be trying!!! lol

Gotta take the niece home and then go to the grocery...

Thanks again and SMOOCHES!

Referring to your car as a he makes it difficult to understand, and is down right weird.

Haven't you seen gone in sixty seconds.

I had a girlfriend give me chit for calling my Cobra a "she".

Nope have not seen gone in 60, and yup, Tux is a he ;)

I am going to get him up and start with the wheel where the compressor is. Gotta work out first, then I will get on it.

Got a few questions, hopefully I can get a hold of Eddy today.
1-can both solenoids get stuck, or is just one can make both screw up
2-how can I test it, other than swapping one with another don't think I have another unless I take one of LBD's (my 95, and she is a she ;) and she is working fine right now, don't want to screw with the only one I got running!
3- is there any way to open it if it is stuck? Buckeye came by and mentioned something about sending 12volts thru it, I think.

Sapp - I am not sure what I need, but if I do need a dryer I will let you know - thanks!!

Well, off to the gym, then come back for the real work out!

SMOOCHES HOTTIES!!!

Before you waste any effort on anything else, please make sure your drier isn't blocked... It has happened a few times before. All you need to remove it is a phillips screwdriver, after you get access to it. You remove the 4 lines from it, the phillips screw then turn the drier 45 degrees and it pulls out. Try to blow air through it...

Ok - insane trying to get him up, then off mini ramps and onto stands... my neighbors watched me squat at Tux's wheel while completely wrapping both arms around the tire and wiggle pull grunt groan cuss and cry for 20 minutes trying to get the tire off because my 2ton jack couldn't get him high enough to get up offa the mini ramp... unreal..

Well get this - (Tux has Eddies Spider Extreme http://www.americanairsuspension.com/SPIDER EXTREME FAQ'S.htm) the gauge is at 140 PSI now, and when I went to release some air from the shraerder valve, nothing came out even though gauge reads 140. Also, when I pressed the pins at the bottom of the bowls, neither bowl was retaining air or water so where is the pressure????

Here in about 5 minutes I am going to go take the solenoid off.... at 140 PSI what should I expect!?!

Eddie posted in a thread that it would be very unusual for both solenoids to get stuck.. I am wondering now if it is the solenoid...

Diesel - do you still think the dryer may be blocked?

and whats up???? First chickie tells me to blow my solenoid, and now you my dryer... are you guys serious!?!!!

I think Diesel may have mentioned something about your drier being clogged..let me check...yup he did

Your drier could be holding the pressure, maybe you should Check that, or you can wait and maybe Diesel will tell you again

Doesn't the spider valve have a pressure release at a certain PSI to prevent over inflating things?
