Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, but it's all I had.

Nice Headers!

Thanks!

For anyone who may not know, I seized the engine on my DD 97 last week when I sucked up water into the intake. I decided that I try to replace the engine rather than part the car out, as long as I could find a decent deal on an engine. I would much rather keep a Mark on the road than kill it. Plus, this car keeps the miles off of my 98. ;)

I started by searching car-part.com for 98 engines in the area and ended up finding this 67k mile engine on a 98 base model for $800 in a junkyard less than 6 miles from my house. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but with 67k miles, I figured it was worth checking it out, at the very least. I went and talked to the guys and they were super cool. One has a 99 Cobra and took a real genuine interest in my 98. I went back and looked and the car was nearly complete, minus headlights and taillights and an impact to the front passenger corner. I walked around the car and noticed an exhaust manifold sitting in the trunk. Wondering if it was detached from the car, and why, I went around and looked at the exhaust manifold area. To my surprise, there were no manifolds, there was a set of new looking KOOKS headers! Yay! haha. I talked to the guys and they said that they would include them with the engine for the same price. Double Yay! lol. That pretty much made up my mind right then and there. They even ended up giving me a $50 military discount, so $750 for the engine and headers.
I've been walking around with a smile on my face ever since! :D

Good deal and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Did you have the intake resonator tube removed or anything like that when you locked it up?

FOCK!! I get a motor that is bad and needs to be taken out....this guy gets one with headers for the same price I paid! I think I'm going to take a massive s h i t in the middle of the street and stomp on it! ;)

I'm so jealous......Time for me to go whine in the corner like a beotch... DAMMIT! :shifty::mad::(

Wooohooo!

You should prolly check your tranny fluid and diff fluid if you went into water that deep...

That's not a bad idea, thanks. I'll definitely do that.

looks like my motor if it was out of my car! are those kooks headers on it, they look like mine.

Yep, KOOKS, and I think they might be the stainless ones, I didn't even think to check....How can I tell for sure if they are or not?

What about your steering, are they going to clear?

The car they came out of had the stock rag joint in it, so that shouldn't be a problem. I might end up getting the flaming river one anyway though.

Yeah, the resonator down in the fender was removed, but that's it. The paper filter was completely drenched. It probably weighed like 3 or 4 pounds cuz of all the water!

I'm sorry about your situation, but that's about the funniest thing I've heard all week! haha.

Well, I picked it up and took it to the "Auto Skills Center" on base today and got it put on the engine stand.
Where do you guys recommend getting gaskets? I want to get an oil pan gasket, oil filter adapter gasket, and exhaust manifold gaskets (this engine's getting the stock manifolds, the 98 gets the headers) at the very least. Anything else I should do before putting the engine in the car?
