omfg i have no words for this

So as I read this thread here I am thinking 2 things?

First is I have a 96' so I am kinda between Gen1 and 2 as half the parts are 96' specific :( So I don't care either way on that point :shifty:

Oh and ya know what, I want a Galant...but I want an older VR4 Galant cause I know of quite a few 11 second 1/4 mile ones cruising around be me :D

I am thinking of a comeback liine, give me a few days. It's going to be goooooood!

That's okay we're used to the slow response time from the galant.....I mean LS owners :p

If only Ford/Lincoln put as much thought into the production of the LS as you're putting into this "Legendary" comeback, then it might have lasted for more than 6 years! ;)

I've seen a turbocharged 11 second rusted Dodge Caravan. Doesn't mean I would want to drive it  ;)

Oh but I would!

I like having sleepers cause I like winning races. Yeah the Caravan ain't gonna handle but the VR4 will and everyone that thinks my Mark is a granny car

Well I have beat them all with my Mark so far :D

I have a Gen1 1996 Mark. And I love it. I like the interiors of the Gen2's but the bodystyle of the Gen1's. I also like the LS. All it needed was more power. It was a really nice looking car. I'm actually looking for a 2000-2002 V-6, 5-speed manual model. I drove one several years ago and it was alot of fun. Not terribly fast, but handled incredibly and the manual was just superfun to row through the gears. I love a manual tranny. I really wish the Mark's had one. That car would be a monster with a 5- or 6-speed. Oh well. A man can dream.

the only way the LS would be better than my mark would be if it had 2 doors, V8 only, with a 6 speed manual but if that happened it would have been a mark IX anyways
speaking of witch if ford puts the new eco boost V8 in the mustang
what is lincoln going to come out with to put it in

When I was shopping for my Mark I decided on a 97-98 cause I wanted the neon tail light and wanted the double din stereo opening. As I learned more aboutthe cars I realized the nose and hood was much more to my liking anyway.
I keep hearing people say the gen 1s are faster. Why is that? Didnt the HP # go up on the 97+ LSC over what the gen 1s had? Wasnt allot of the electronic gremlins fixed too?

Also when I was shopping I found a 96 online and I thought it was a bastardized car. Did the 96 have the early nose with the later tail? It was on Autotrader and was whatever the red color is. But it definatly had a 95 nose and a 97-98 tail.

Gen 1s have a better intake manifold (well, better for performance, worse for doing an IAC or anything like that) and generally have a more aggressive factory tune. Factory HP ratings don't mean much. And there weren't alot of electrical gremlins TO fix in the first place, but it doesn't seem like Gen 2s are any better or worse.

And yeah, you found a 'bastardized' car, the 96s look the same as the 93, 94, and 95s...

Pick me up at 8pm
lol sure thing I will be there at 8, lol my Mark is fast - but not that fast! lol

I have termed the nose on a gen 2 - "bunny nose" BUT gotta love the flexable grill (total envy there!) and the rear "plumbers butt"...look at it at night - you'll see why BUT - I do love love love those taillights!!! I've given much to thought on how to get them on a gen 1... the only way is to cut the rear off and put on a gen 2's rear...snif snif.

Smooches!

we have had plenty of people with stock gen 2s get into the 14s as was as manny peope with gen 1s run in the 15s so I say they all run about the same times a bigger factor than what gen is the track, elevation, temp, humidity, and such

What's the best time we've seen out of a 2nd gen stock? I know we've seen 14.6s from 1st gens.

welcome to lvc lol hell theres a gen1/gen2 markviii feud, but thats cuz the gen 1 guys are jealous.

In the words of Peanut ...

You Prius looking Gen II is so Gay .... LOL

groan... sometimes I wonder why I come back here.......

I like my LS, it does what its supposed to do, handle nice, transport me, my wife, and 2 guests comfortably and embarass Mr fartpipe on the freeway on ramps. I have the V6 so I'm not trying to outgun anyone.

Well that's not what we drive our Mark VIII's for ...

For me it's a 2 seater .. most of the time just one.

With it having a 1.5" lowered suspension I'll challenge any LS for handling bring your LS to my curves...

As for the rest ... no need to comment .... V6 hmmm ...

Oh and by the way try Modding an LS that's fun .. do you have your Spinner on the tail pipe yet or are you still arguing about which curtains it put in LOL... Don't think any Mark VIII members here have ever discussed curtains LOL .. Curtain Thread Link

I heard the gen 2 Mark VIII was the best Lincoln ever made...

Well Diper wearer LOL ... I guess you were getting your depends ready for you Gen II LOL ...

Mespock's ran 14.6 (with the guy that bought it from him) but I don't know if that was gen 1 or gen 2.

94 Gen I ... taken to track by Scott9050 .. clocked a 14.6 with a bad tranny and sticking passenger brake caliper.

Also LS guys only like to party with themselves ... don't like to intergrate too much ... Must be afraid to so off their cars ...

I am currently working on a Gen 1 light bar that will have 60 LED's on one strip with 3M adhesive on the back. Once installed and lit up, it should appear to be very close to the neon tail light.

Before anyone jumps at me, I know it's not going to be a true neon and until you see the strip and light output, that this puts out, you wouldn't understand. I do know that I'll get on average of 100 thousand hours from my strip and no worries of a ballast going bad. :D Also less voltage being used than running 6 194 bulbs or 97 & 98's neons. When I'm done with it, I'll post night time shots.

Now, my opinion on Gen 1 vs. Gen 2, is that I like the body of the Gen 1 better. The front end has a meaner look and not round and bubbly. The rear end looks good on both but my eye still likes the Gen 1 better. I'm sure the Gen 2 rides better and I know the interior is better looking with more options but I can do without options for what appeals to me in my eye. I don't worry about what others think but I do know I would never drive a Galant!

Ok everyone I have not posted in a while but I see it fit to post on this one. Fender skirts thank god they went away with the 70's! The LS looks like every other car on the road 10 years ago. The Gen 1 Mark still shows some style and class like we expect from a Lincoln better looking then the Gen 2.... The Gen 2 looks like a warmed over Buick. And on the Fox body Mustang... Well in the 80's you could not get two better looking cars then the Fox and the late Gen 3 F-Body. But when Ford changed the body I got to say that the Gen 4 F-Body looked way better! But over all I will take my Gen 1 Mark any day over any of the above cars I would say its a wolf is sheep's(or old mans) clothing!

kinda lead sleddish, should be all flamed out on chrome bullits, oh yeah better late than never

oh and gen 1's are better hands down, but gen 2's have their highlights also.
