Got down to key largo in 5 1/2 hours from my house. The 97 did beautiful. Got the ac in the room set at 60! It's 98 here we are gonna go eat some grub and go chill in the pool!

WUT!?! But I am on my way to your shop so you can fix my ...... *thinks of something* oh! Replace my heads this weekend! :D

I haven't been down in that area since 2003 so I am jealous, especially being stuck at work. My father in law has white hair and a white beard, people were taking their picture with him in front of Ernest Hemingway's house:lol:

Enjoy it you need it.
Play with the kids and screw your wife....make sure the kids are asleep first!

Well I would if this place was worth it, I'm sorry but the keys will be a place we won't visit again. We went all the way to key west and came back to key largo. Most of the :q:q:q:q here looks like it's been closed for ten years. We are not upset we will still enjoy our hotel and the state park tomorrow but the keys is a :q:q:q:qhole in my opinion.

Remember I told you that when I lived in Pompano my wife and I drove 3-4 hours down there....it sucked soooo bad that after an hour of being there we got back in the car and drove 3-4 hours back home. I think it is waaaaaaaaaay over rated!

That sucks, I hope you're at least able to relax while you're down there. My wife and I just took a week "vacation" last week and came back even more exhausted than we left! We were busy the entire time.

I haven't been down to the key yet...
I've been told they are only entertaining if you are blind drunk, either a pub crawl or at one of the big gay holiday festivals, or scuba diving.

The keys suck.....I only go down there to walk around. I like to stop at all the small shops on the way to the southernmost point. Then we park, walk around probably grab some grub and then head back home. There was several times that we've rented and both times we stayed for a week....and the only good activity like Jamie says is the pool other than that, if you dont have a boat to fish nor a jet ski your stuck...b/c the beaches suck assss!! I still havent seen a decent beach down there.

I have to say my area and our beaches blow this place away, even the houses down here are nothing to talk about, the houses in south pinellas make these look like tool sheds. The only thing down here I thought was nice is the water from islamorada to key west it's turquoise. The food is a :q:q:q:qing rip off too.

Well, here goes... Sorry, I have to speak my mind as an owner in the Keys & I have to defend my backyard......... Its pretty impossible to set a concrete opinion on less than 10 hours of driving around the Keys. In fact, you were haulin @ss Jamie! You didn't give the Keys a chance, there are so many places to appreciate down there & you only saw the negative crap about it, it pissed you off & that was your mindset through the entire trip! YES the Keys received a HUGE impact by our country's economic struggle & YES it is a bit expensive but take it from me, I've been all over Florida, Panama City, Daytona, Palm Beach, Tampa, Jupiter, Naples, Cape Coral, Saint Augustine, Everglades City, Vero Beach, Sanibel, etc... They are all amazing places & The Keys is are one of my favorite. The Keys are beautiful, you simply have to know where you are going & trust me, you won't find waters like those in the Keys, elsewhere in the Eastern U.S. If you go to the Keys just to go to the Keys, then you my friend WONT have any fun. You have to plan ahead, call ahead, find out about activities, places to go, etc...

Yes, you are right, chances are the houses in the Keys can't compare... The Keys are more rustic. You are supposed to get more of a Caribbean island feeling in the Keys than that of a high end house on the bay or a beach front condo feeling. The Keys are for the following:

*T!tt!es
*beer
*fishing
*snorkling
*jet sking
*boating
*More t!tt!es
*More beer

& Jamie?... You should've listened to me & stayed at Islamorada. Your opinion would've been COMPLETELY different. My family's opinion of the Keys was IDENTICAL to yours back in the 80's but in the 90's we gave the Keys another chance with a different approach & thank God we did because we love it. We get to leave the loud @ss Cubans (YES, I'm Cuban but sometimes we need to rest from other Cubans as well, lol) in Miami & join a more relaxed, layed back atmosphere. I hope you change your mind man & give the Keys another try in the future with a different mindset.

The Keys rock but you have to find the great spots, Islamorada is one of them! If you don't think any of the below shown isn't fun then I don't know what is...

well we are back home and very happy to be, alex no disrepect but come on, my eyes work very well and i was not thrilled with any part of the keys, i went through islamorada and it was no different than key largo, marathon, any of them. there are no beaches, i cannot believe how much crap is shut down and falling apart. the people are :q:q:q:qing rude as hell, all we saw walking around after sunset was drunks and hookers. i'm sorry but i would never reccomend anyone going to the keys. i really though it would be a little piece of paradise its a piece of :q:q:q:q! the only thing nicer down there than here is the color of the water. titties and beer? i can get that up here no need to drive 350 miles, fishing and jet ski's again, can do it all here! i wanted to go to the keys to see something different, its way nicer along the gulf coast then the keys!! sorry to insult your backyard but my backyard is much more appealing. we loved the hotel, we had fun there and had a blast in the pools there. we are not upset we went, we had to go to see for ourselves but i'll never go back. we had to pay 10 bucks to get into the john pennecamp park to find out everything in there is either unsafe, closed, or not there anymore, we couldnt even walk the wooden nature trail they closed both walk ways to the observation tower it was all ripped out and blocked off. 10 bucks to drive in there, park, look at a sorry excuse for a beach and then leave, what a bargain!! we were gonna ride the glass bottom boat but it would have cost $94 bucks to take a 2 hour boat ride to see the coral reef? 94 bucks??????????????????????? like i said i dont mean to rain on anyone's parade but my opinion on the florida keys is, the place sucks, but no biggy we got away and relaxed i just wish i had picked a better location. we had a better time when we stayed in treasure island a few years back, now that was a blast.

I was down in the Keys a while back ... I thought they were great ... loved it down there.

Sorry to hear your trip wasn't any fun Jamie ... It's a shame after going through all you have to plan on something fun then it not being to your expectations. Sux...

Well hopefully you had time to relax with the family and now you can feel better.

i wont say i didnt have fun, even shari said she was glad we went. we did just stay at the hotel from around 2 pm on yesterday, we went in the pool but the water was way too warm, so we went and showered and we headed to the fish house for dinner, that was incredible, i had the best jumbo shrimp stuffed with blue crabmeat stuffing, they were huge, we had an awesome dinner. after dinner it was just after sunset so we got back to the hotel and got changed for the pool again, this time we went into the other pool, they call it a splash pool there is a huge rock ledge on one side and the water pours off the rocks down into the pool, me and shari and the kids had a blast in there no one was around we had the whole thing to ourselves. we stayed in the pool about 3 hours and got to see some awesome lightning while we were in there. we had a good time, it just was nothing like we expected. i really didnt think it would look and feel so old down there, key west was the most modern looking out of all the keys but even that wasnt saying much. if i had a boat or a jet ski it would be the place to go, but there isnt a whole lot to do there.

sand key is where me and my wife got married. right out on the beach it was beautiful, yes all the beaches here in pinellas county are gorgeous. going to the keys made me appreciate our area so much more, there is way more to do and look at here near my home. here are some pics from the trip, this was cool, seeing iguana's right on the side of the road, and these :q:q:q:qers were 3 feet long +
