Brute force was used more as tongue and cheek.
You just missed this part......making sure not to break anything
.
The thread even carries the humor in posts 10 and 11 and 12.
You lost your temper and broke a lot of stuff.
That thread explains exactly how to get that valve cover off.
The problem was not the advice, or the search function.
You only quoted the posts that made me look bad to suit your agenda. How about accurately depicting the thread with the proper quotes? They continued with the sarcasm because the guy they were ragging on didn't listen to them that he needed to use brute force. So they made some sarcastic posts about it.
You would make a good politician with deceptive posts like that....
Here's what was really said...
Valve cover gasket swaps suck big time. Took me all day to change the things out. Had to swap a brake booster as well so it made it a bit easier to do on the driver side, but is there a trick to the passenger side or just use brute force making sure not to break anything?
brute force, take off the shock tower cover off as well
That's what I did...and almost didn't have enough force.
Any tricks on how to remove the passenger side valve cover on a 98 Lincoln Mark VIII? The driverside was a real pain. Had to remove the brake booster and felt like forever just to finish that one side. Any information will greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
Make sure you remove the valve cover bolts. Good trick to know when removing valve covers. Also, read up on reading comprehension. It comes in handy. For example,
brute force, take off the shock tower cover off as well
Which part of that post eluded you?![]()
Sarcasm? Not until Linc posted did the sarcasm start. They were serious about brute force. The part about not breaking anything was in the form of a question, not a statement. Of course you're not supposed to try to break anything, but he asked because he didn't know how much force to use (which was my problem).
