As stated on another thread, this hopefully will be a collective of wheels/tires that people have successfully put on their Marks. This can be anything from using a wider tire on factory wheels or rims with slicks on them.

So let’s keep it simple. Only post wheel and tire combination that you have actually used and had success with. Also if you had to hub swap, roll fenders or you have it lowered. A picture would be appreciated but not necessary

If you can’t supply all the information please don’t post until you do so there won’t be any questions about that combination. Please start another thread if you want a discussion about a certain combination, let’s just keep this to facts.

So...

-Brand of rim (American muscle, factory 04 Cobra, Ford racing )
-Size of rim (width, bolt pattern, height and offset. Exp, 9",114.3x5,17,36mm)
-Tire brand (firestone, Goodyear)
-Tire size (255/45/17)
-Modifications (i.e. hub swap, fenders rolled, stiffer shocks, sway bar used, lowered or not, or other info that allowed you to use the combination)

* Moderators please make this a sticky, or if you think more info is needed please edit.

-Factory Lincoln Mark VIII (Octi-star)
-7.5", 108x5 (5x4.25), 16", 39mm
-Kumho Ecsta Supra
-255/50/ZR16
-No Modifications

This is a helpful thread, gotta make it a sticky..should save us from future questions.

18x9 Cobra Rs, 5x4.25" bolt pattern, 36mm offset, Dunlop "fierce instinct" 245/45/18s..these tires have a much wider cross section width than others..they look more like a 255. They will barely rub the front spindles if your front suspension is the least bit worn out. Rears with these tires come close to rubbing the fender lip but still clear. Fyi car is sitting on 1.25" tokico drop springs for thunderbirds/cougars.

That's what craigslist and our for sale forum is for. Please keep this just to facts only.

I know more of you guys have after market wheels on your car's, please post em up! :) Thanks!

18x9 front with 245/45zr18 nitto invo
18x10 rear with 275/40zr18 nitto invo
1.5 eibach drop springs and tokico illumina shocks.
On air sensor lowered and weak shocks it rubbed slightly on large bumps. With springs and the new shocks no issues.
Wheels came from Brad at the custom wheel shop in the mark viii bolt pattern. I'll have to check the wheel for exact offset or maybe Brad will chime in.
18X9 +36MM
18X10 +45MM

Im guessing that your rear tires are 275-40-18 bro. Might want to edit that if you can.

This is a good post from DLF in another thread. This is a good thread, let's keep it going!

Since I was taking the DR's off my car today, I thought I'd shoot some pics showing the three different wheels that I have. All are FRPP wheels, and all are the 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern.

The first pic is a 17x9" M179 Cobra R wheel with +36mm offset. The tire is a MT 275/40-17 DR.

The second pic is a 17x9" R58 Cobra R wheel with +24mm offset. Same MT 275/40-17 DR. These I use on my '98 Cobra.

The third pic is a 17x8" '98 Cobra wheel with +30mm offset and a 245/45-17 Firestone Wide Oval tire.

These are the 17x9 bullitts with 24mm offset and 275/40/17. There was a slight rub and I trimmed the fender about half an inch and the rub went away. But the speedo was off. so I went to the 255/50/17's and because of the larger diameter, not only was the rub back, but now the front would rub when the wheel was locked. I'm going to try 235's and hope the rub is gone. I'm a little irritated.

First pics are with the 275/40/17's.

This is with the 255/50/17's on the white rims that rubbed and 215/65/17 on the gray rims 17x8 24mm, which there was no problems at all.

Those 17x8s look way better IMO..they don't stick out nearly as much..not quite sure why you had 215/65/17s..that's an odd size..probably could have gone with a 275 wide tire and not had a rubbing problem.

HERE is a great calculator for determining factors like tire and rim choices.

It won’t tell you what fits a Mark VIII just what you different speeds will be with different combinations. Still useful info on deciding on wheels for your mark or any car.

Thanks I agree. I really wanted the white bullitts though and I didn't find any other ones (and there are). The gray Bullits have snow tires and the tire size is just a set that I bought used and were close in size.

Any one have the 17s 5 spoke wheels on theirs from the LS? I found a set for a good price I know the bolt pattern is the same but how much of a difference of offset are they?

a lot different offset. 39 vs 60.
you will need spacers for the front to clear the spindle.

the point is most of those were all hub swapped. you hub swap and the world is the limit, then you have to deal with rotors too, not to hijack thread but it should be what rims fit the mark without mods. (or with) i still cant figure a real world $ for the whole swap new hubs front GOOD ones 80 a piece plus redrill or oblong rotor, the rears labor pulling off and redrill send off or find machine shop 160-180. your looking at 2-300. i found speedstars everywhere cheap, but then factor in swap and you lose saving. i was dead set on a set of 18 x 10 black speedstars for rear new 120 they had a 1.75" lip for a deepdish look and some others, just a question of what rim you find that you really like might just pay bill for 18 x9 no muss no fuss bolt and go.with stock hubs the pickings are SLIM found a few places that would drill any pattern i wanted but the result was the same.
currently running verde protocol 16 x 8 (came with car) they make a variety of rims that fit with " universal" pattern" running 225 60 16 pretty much stock.

I have the 18X9 Speedstar wheels with the Mark8 bolt-pattern.
36mm offset
Sensor lowered
245-45s up front and 265-40s out back.
PERFECT fit with no rub anywhere ever.

I finally decided on a set of Bullet Staggered 18x9s and 18x10s but it seems like I'm too late. Everywhere I look they only have 18x9s, no more 18x10s until... Any ideas where I might find these wheels, new or used?
