top speed

130 is stock, but as mentioned its not really a speed limit but a drivetrain rotational limit. Also the speedos at high speed are not exacting, 127 or 130 is the same really. The LSC will limit out sooner.

The limits can be removed with Pro Racer software from SCT. I did so, but the limiter is in a couple locations. 3rd gear can also be adjusted to stay in place at high speed. I think it maxes out though at around 155. Second gear is okay to about 90ish.

The true top speed is around 170 without rear door mirrors and rear brakes. As done on the Bonneville flats.
What difference does rear brakes make?

I had my old 94 at 165.

Not something I ever choose to do again. The mark isn't exactly the most Aerodynamicaly stable design on the planet.

It gets a bit to light in the nose.
Had mine at 172 and it felt very stable. Granted I had Y rated tires, big brakes and numerous suspension mods but at 170 it frelt pretty good. Just gotta let it slow down 5-10 MPH on its own or the rear does a cute little slide if you brake before the weight transfer is done.

Chris, I think your gears are what's holding you back because we both have the W3Z2 computers that aren't speed limited from the factory. I know mine will hit 140 and I would say + but it's hard for me to do that around here and I really don't like getting up to that speed. I have T rated tires but they handle the speed fine, well, they did once. I just got a speeding ticket last October coming back from Florida so I have a bit of anxiety worrying about troopers and plus hitting that kind of speed. I didn't swap computers for top speed anyway, I done it because they were tuned with more spark, 15 psi more trans fluid pressure and knowing I can pass 130 if I wanted to, plus various other reasons.

It seems like most stock Marks besides the ones with the (93's only) W3Z2 computer normally hit 127 and then they shut down. Maybe some are a bit faster and some slower.

just out of curiosity, what is the part number on your z2 comp?
mine ends in AB. which would lead me to believe there is an A or AA out there..
i need a chip.

Or AC...

but my question is how did you get rid of the top speed limiter and can i do the same?

with the speed limiter removed im sure theres not too many cars faster than a mark for the $$

Hes referring to the quote in 420s signature. I am fat like a mofo and even have a disability but its not cause I am fat, fat just makes it worse. I still agree with the statement though. People that are on disability BECAUSE they are fat is BS.

FWIW, I don't recall a speed limiter on my '93, even before it was chipped and modded.

I had my 98 LSC up to 110 mph. It was not too pleasant. I did 135 MPH in my 92 MB S500, 130MPH in my Lexus LS400 1998. I don't know if the cars are getting older or if its me. I can not justify traveling at speeds higher than 90.

I had my 88 LSC up to 140 ( when I was 19). My current 92LSC I had up to 110 and it felt great.

I just turned 28, bought mine when I was 24 and still have yet to get over 100mph and I don't really care to either. I've driven this car pretty sanely, guess I'm getting kinda old.
