It's going to be a hard one...

On one hand, I want to fix my very first Mark Viii... the car that I lucked into finding... In the color I wanted with the interior I wanted right off the bat, and for $1500.. That depends on the money I get from the insurance co.

If they pretty much tell me to get lost and that my car is only worth X amount even with the work and money I put into it then I have no choice but to cut my losses, do a buy back and strip it. If I get a half decent enough check after buyback then I will roll it right into the body shop. New headlights, Double R hood, new grille, and fresh paint, and be happy...

Then there is the other hand...

I found a '97 black on black LSC with black trim for $1200, pretty rough, needs some love, has a rust hole in front of the drivers rear wheel on the rocke, missing stuff under the hood, missing some minor stuff in the interior, flat tire, been sitting in the same spot for a year. Front bags deflated and wont come up and the dealership that it is at pulled all the wiring under the dash out and thought they could rig up a switch to kick the compressor on, doesnt look like they tapped into any wires, but could be a disaster in disguise... but the car is mostly all there, and not a half bad looking car for the money.

Then right up the street is it's identical twin... black on black '97 LSC with black trim and with only 70K on the clock... but the dealership wants $69xx for it... Should I commit to buying a Mark Viii from a dealership? Is it even worth it when it will get totalled out if I hit anything? Or should I try to get a declared value on the vehicle?

I don't know what to do... I saw that low mile '97 and fell in love with it. it is SUPER clean.

There is also a white '96 LCS (but no HID's ??) with tan interior on craigslist.. for like 2500...

I'm soo confused!!!!

If you want to keep your 93, then simply spend the money. These cares will never give you back what you spend on them. As far as the first 97, pass. That is a good parts car, nothing else. The second 97 may be a good car, but they are asking too much for it. The 96 you haven't given enough information on, for me to comment. Except that if it doesn't have HID's then the owner prolly converted back to halogens. All 96's had HID's.

that is what I'd like to do, but if I dont get the money I need out of it after a total out and buyback I cant afford to have it worked on... then the problem becomes I have no daily driver. Right now I'm driving my '94 GT 5.0L 5 speed with 315 Nitto DR's on the back... and it's been raining here in Ohio

If I can get the body shop to repair the core support I will take care of the rest. I dont care what color it is, I just want my car back. :(

i'm going to the big ford swap meet on the 28th-29th maybe I'll find Mark Viii parts

And that is exactly what I thought about the 96's... because that makes 3 96 LSC's ive found on craigslist that do not have HID's I wonder if they were wrecked before and halogen housings were simply thrown in...

What would be a good price to pay on the "nice" 97?

on the messed up b o b i'd pass. as for the nice one i'd offer 4k-4.5 if all the common probs work. its a 12 year old car after all.

There has to be someone who could drive with you long distance to pick one up. What state are you in?

lol I live in Ohio... and the car with the octostars is in Akron... which is a haul. And quite frankly I dont care for those wheels. I like the swirlies that are on the one in Batavia... which is on my way to work.

Here is the ad for the one in Cincy

Both overpriced. I bought my 97 LSC in Columbus for $2,000 with the help of the Mistress. If you find one over this way I will even give you a place to stay for the night as we have a guest room. Maybe Mistress will go with you and drive one back:D

Thank you for your offer, that is very kind.

I just wish I could drive my Mark :( I've been driving my '94 GT 5 speed every day this week...

I find it strange I am saying that... I LOVE my GT... but I really enjoyed driving my lincoln

I actually emailed the guy on the 1st one... not really interested in the 2nd two... I dont particularly like any other interior colors in these cars but black... To me, gray looks dirty, and the tan is just waaaayyy too much... way too bright, lol

300 hp cobra motor, This is a true LSC with locking rear differential/IRS, 190K miles This vehicle is worth three times the asking price in parts alone. $1,300 OBO

so its worth 3900 to part out? why not part it then. i love the B.S people write about the mark VIII's to try and make them something they are not!! i also was not aware the LSC's came with lockers in the diff lmfao.

IMO, the money you will spend on another car, plus whatever it needs to get it on the road will be more than what is needed to fix your current car. If you liked your current car, buy it back, keep driving something else and slowly put it back together. I'd rather fix a car I knew than buy somethign else. I feel for you bro, i love both of my cars.

I would love to buy my car back and fix it... but I keep saying the only problem with that... I CANNOT drive anything else.. LOL Yes I may have 5 cars in my sig, but the white one has no drivetrain and is sitting next to a barn, the red one is a bare shell on jackstands, the yellow one is in storage because it was my very first car bought brand new by my grandma and has 65K on it... it's not seeing snow ever again.

So that only leaves my black GT... which, the last time I even attempted to drive that car in even a light "misting" of snow, I was going straight, but completely sideways!

So that leaves me nothing to drive, I could fix the Mark Viii outside, I did it to the GT, but it's November in Ohio.... Snow is coming soon... I need to have a body shop fix it with quickness. By the time I get home I'm tired and it's starting to get dark. Can't work on sh-it in Ohio... lol

If I could get the body shop to pull the core support or replace it... I can do everything else... it's all removable structure after that... I have a hood, fender, chrome brow, and even a set of junk headlights to get me going for a while... I don't care how many colors it is, lol

Fix the car if you get a low payoff then just get the core support fix/replaced. That cannt be too much then do the rest yourself. Although that 97 in cincy is Niceeeeeeeeeeee.

Well, I should know a little more information today as to what is going to happen. I hope I surprise them with my massive amounts of receipts for the car!! Almost 5K!!
