My Cordovan Collector's Edition

I performed surgery on the cup holder. Bill, I was mindful of the little spring for the ashtray. I am however curious about this cover for the cupholder. It don't look as if it can be removed. It's a whole assembly that rotates down when the button is pushed.

If I were you, I'd completely pull the carpet out of it, and take it to an upholstery cleaner. I had some nasty floor mats from an LSC that were given to me, and had my buddy who runs a carpet/upholstery cleaning business clean them up... he got things out that I never could think of. Plus he's done other interior clean ups for friends on my local mustang forum...

Definitely the thing to do.
 
the ash tray doors are held on with a phillips screw through each side, take the screws out and remove the lids but there are springs in there too, its not easy. why dont you just go to walmart and spend 4 bucks on this and shove it between the console and pass seat. this is what i use in my 97, my cup holder is perfect and staying that way, and to stay that way you CANT USE IT. it was the absolute dumbest design ever and its basically there for looks. i like my el' cheapo much better!

I got the ashtray removed. I am concerned with the cupholder. I've removed the leather cover. The long flat piece that is connected to the cupholder, looks a lot more difficult to remove.
 
Yeah Greg, on the side there are these plastic dampner things that just look like screw caps. You have to pop them out and remove the phillips screws. Just keep looking for screws and every time you find one, remove it! :lol:
 
Take that carpet out and hit it with the pressure washer, only takes about a good day in the sun to dray, just try to prop it up so it drains, done that on 2 of my marks, worked like a charm...
 
OK Bill, I think we're lost in translation. I've totally removed all pertinent screws. I've removed the leather cover from a top the cup holder. The mechanism that the chrome button is attached to,extends out past where the leather cover will be put back. So I will have to paint the charcoal one. There does not seem to be any easy way to remove it with breaking it.

Send them both to me. I'll fix up your grey one for the price of letting me keep the black pieces. I did this for member "mark0101"
 
after working with Kustomizing Kid on Pepperman car and seeing what his steam cleaner can do it is going to be added to my tool list. not only removing grime from the cloth it also removes the stink from the air and heater ducts . you might check a rental shop and rent one. use some sovlent cleaner to spray on the object to clean before using the steam. be careful on the leather and don't work the steam to close. then use a good leather cream on it.
 
Well, I hope it looks good. That's really too bad that you did that. It's so hard to come across good black cupholder pieces.
 
Oh well, it's good enough for now until I find an entire Graphite center console complete. One of the tabs is broke on the end where it slides in behind the radio, (probably because they couldn't figure out how to get the console out) Then they drove a screw in the corner to secure it. One thing is for sure though, this Mark was already in the shop for the blend door. The dash was pulled to do something back there, and when they buttoned everything back up they didn't put back the the two nuts behind the radio.
 
I've fixed all of the problems with the exception of the Low Coolant Level message. Has anyone experienced this message? All coolant levels are fine, but the message still comes on? I'm thinking the reservoir bottle. Is there some kind of sensor in there?
 
There's a sensor toward the bottom of the tank, I think. Look for wires going that direction. I think I've heard of them going bad before.

Although....I think you can also get the low coolant alarm if there's air in the crossover tube. Have you burped it a few times?
 
my 93 spits that message every 5 seconds, coolant is fine in the car, and i just tell it to STFU everytime it beeps!!!
 
It's been burped. I did it again today. I'm going to go to the junkyard and get another coolant bottle. Now to top that off, I thought I had the 174 bank one lean code fixed. It came back tonight. I am loosing vacuum somewhere.

I told you about this already.... argh.....!!!

Check the sensor under the surge tank. If its pluged in then unplug it and and short the plug together with a paper clip. If the message goes away then the sensor is bad which is more then likely the problem.

You told me when?? You were probably talking about my son's evergreen 97 and the window washer message. Which I fixed by the way. It was a bad float.
 
Page one of this thread. Post number 5. I still need the evap tanks/tray.
 
Well, I fixed all of my idiot lights Sunday, A quick trip to the Pick-A-Part, and I got a Coolant bottle, Brake reservoir, and air tube, all off a 98 Black/Black LSC. All the lights are gone. Incidentally, I scored a grille, needs painting, and cup holder with working arms.
 
Did that car have the phone option? I want the A-pillar trim with the microphone in it for a project. What do you want for the cupholder assembly?
