I run a wet kit. A dry kit cannot backfire: there is no fuel in the manifold.

Thats rubbish. First, most nitrous kits don't have a button; it's too dangerous. Most are WOT switches. I've ran mine from a dig MULTIPLE times now. Of course, I have good plugs that are non projectile tip (a must have when using nitrous.)
Freshly completely rebuilt b head engine would be just as reliable as a rebuilt c. Besides, just being stock rebuilt won't make an engine bullet proof. Only expensive parts do that.
Plus, you were saying a C head swap, not a rebuild.

The nozzle will probably be halfway down the plastic intake, on the underside.
One thing I would REALLY look in to are non-projected tips, especially with a wet kit.
