What is the deal with the front seal, valve body is prefect, torque converter I won't find out till later today when I get under it. I hope its not the front seal, the leak Is getting
worse every day though.

while we're on the jmod thing, i have a sniper programmer with which allowed me to change shift firmness to 3 levels including race for the 1-2 shift which is where i have it all the rest are set at firm, the highest level for those.it bangs into second to where i can chirp the tires with stock 3.27's. should i leave it at that, isnt that really what the jmod is for,if you cant control it electronically? i mean do i need both? i cant imagine i shifting any better

well with the jmod, the larger holes mean more fluid is moving through the transmission. which promotes better cooling and lubrication in the trans.
i have the jmod, and my chip actually reduces line pressure, which is better for the pump. and it still slams into 2nd and occasionally chirps 3rd.

I prefer to do my adjustments via a tune but thats just cause it works and isnt as herky jerky as the Jmod is.

Anyway pearl, looks like your front seal is leaking. Pull that plug and see if any drips out from inside the bell housing. If it deos then chances are its the front seal.

its also easily reversible that way. the jmod is a one way street. reversal needs a new separator plate.

did you drain your convertor when you changed the fluid and did the j-mod. because if you did, i would have a better time believing that the drain plug is loose vrs the front seal, specially if the front seal wasnt leaking before you did the j-mod. i'm leaning towards your convertor plug not being tight. its a fine pipe thread plug, so it needs to be tight.

I started thinking about the drain plug too but nothing was ever mentioned about a complete drain. It could be loose and another reason it made me think of it is because he said it leaked worse and that could be just where the TC stopped at. Drain plug may have stopped spinning right at the bottom but if it's tight, then the front seal would be my guess.

Same Thing happened to me! Did jmod then first time I punched it this happened...

Blew the brand new front seal out of it's bore. Not sure why. Epoxied the new one in and haven't had a problem. I was thinking I messed up the seal a bit during install of the TC.

damn my leak isnt that bad. i still havent checked the tc plug i will try to do it tommorow, i just been putting in an 8th of a quart in a day. it doesnt leak when i park on a hill facing up.

^^^LOL
The pictures of it being towed at the end are funny.

Buy the way, do I only need this plate to do the conversion?

I am amateur DIY and I might mess up so having an extra one just in case is ideal

No, that's just a gasket, not the plate. You need two gaskets and that one is for the bottom and priced high I might add. Look over to the right and you'll see an ad for 5 star Ford parts and the name Maxx. He'll send you what you need and the gaskets are around $3.00 each but plates go for much more than that.

Yeah, not the plug, bought a brand new pa.n and gasket from dealer still leaking, im checking the dipstick o ring next

the drip is coming from the front right of the trans pan. front passenger side by the dip stick so im hoping that is where the leak is. if its the seal im putting this car to sleep for the winter. This is the list of what i have done to try to stop this leak.

1 dealer tans pan and gasket r
2 resealed gasket 3 times still leaking from the front
3 tighned torque converter
4 checked inside bell housing no signs of a leak.

The dipstick tube o-ring is a standard -113 size. If you want to send me a SASE, I'll send you a couple.

Pass side front of pan is deft the o ring. I just changed my trans in my 97 recently and had to change the o ring after it was all back in and done. I had kooks headers what a son of a bitch the was.
