derrik wants me to change the fuel pump in his 97 since the tank is down already, where do you guys buy these walbro pumps from? or whatever pump works, i did one in Enskankers car but he supplied it, so i dont know where to get them, any got a good place to buy from, i know Ed got his for like $98 bucks.

I got mine from supercoupe performance but they only had them for the Gen1. My brother modified it to fit in the Gen2 tank - it was so long ago I can't remember how he did it but it wasn't time consuming.

well i had to dremmel part of the one i used in Ed 98, where the hoses attach to the top of the pump, the plastic case on the end of the pump had to be trimmed so the hose flange would sit flat, maybe the pump is universal for gen 1 and 2?? or should i say the gen 1 pump will work in the gen two, after trimming what i had to trim, and reversing polarity too, found that out the hard way!

Yeah, I think that's what we did, I do remember reversing polarity and trimming something. Hopefully someone will chime in and say there is one that's a direct fit, but I couldn't find one at the time.

ebay has some 255's for $50 shipped and $70 shipped. I am 90% sure the $70 one is the one I have and its a Walbro but not advertized as such. Two years old now.... closer to three and over 40K and it still works fine. Been through two cars even.

Didn't Laser say it's not a direct fit and sits higher than the stock one causing a few gallons of gas to be unusable and making the gas mileage indicator useless?

Is there anyone on here that can verify that the Focus SVT pump worked and they ran their tank down enough to verify the fuel mileage was accurate (ran it down to less than 30 miles till empty?)

Funny I was posting as you were laser....

I am sure they can be modded to sit right and people have but why bother when you can get one that drops right in and has the same flow?

So if I go on a long trip my fuel indicator will be correct. If anyone has bought the Focus SVT pump I would be greatful if you can say how you made it work with our fuel indicator?

I don't mind modding it myself if anyone has directions on what they did to make it work.

I have the SVT focus pump, it's a direct fit, just have to reverse the wiring. Fuel gauge works fine. This pump is good for 400rwhp.

OK, now I am confused. I know the Focus pump is a direct swap in a Mustang as I have done it. I also know a Mustang pump swap is not a direct swap for a Mark as it sits a little too high causeing it not to be able to use all the fuel. So I made the logical conclusion that a Focus pump wouldnt be a direct fit for the Mark.

Another thought, I know the 98s tank evap system is just a little different from others. I wonder if its pump cage might be a little different?..... nah, now that I think about it the pump in my 98 is from my 97 and the cage looked the same other then being a different color.

Well, I'll know for sure tomorrow. I'm going to put a green top SVT Focus pump in my '98. I'll take measurements and pictures.

focus pump is a almost direct swap. I got the sending unit from HPP in dallas it was $125. just switched the caps on the sending units then connected the wires. now the wires are reversed if you go with common knowledge and connect it the way it looks like it should be it will be wrong. had to reverse mine after the install ergh!!!!!!!!!!!other than that it was really a easy swap. i actully did it in my parking lot at the wash.

well i am gonna write to Enskanker and ask him who he bought it from on ebay because i did it in his 98 and it was a walk in the park, instead of he said she said derrik i will find out who he got it from and you can get the same one, i know it works because i installed it!

Ed's car is a 98 check post #3

Yes but we don't know which one Ed used according to post 3....

Yep

It is a 97, but it took some work to get it installed, re-work the basket.

How do I rework the basket? Do I rework the factory basket or does it come with an aftermarket one? How long has it been on his car since you guys installed it? and please don't tell me to use brute force ;)

You need to dremel the top so the pump fits.
I have been running it as a daily driver since December.

How do I rework the basket?

you have to look at it..

very difficult to explain, but very simple when you get the parts side by side

your gonna have to grab the spoon and feed yourself on this one

you'll see its not rocket science

The green top SVT Focus pump is a direct swap, drops right in. The only thing you have to do is the wiring. The pump harness has black with a white tracer for + and white with a red tracer for -, so using the pigtail for the Focus pump, red goes to black, and black goes to white.

Pics in a bit.
