:mad::mad::mad:Here's the story...

After no longer wanting to deal with the weird flapping noise coming out of my exhaust I decided it was time to let go of my FLOWMASTERS. EVERYONE on this site frowns upon the way Flowmasters sound & mine weren't any different so I was convinced it was time. I was under the impression my Flowmasters were old & rot inside because I always got a flapping sound while on idle that would drive me insane. It's so loud that you barely hear the lower rumble sound. So I went & got a pair of Magnaflows installed today. First thing the guy at the shop tells me is that NOTHING is wrong with my FLowmaster mufflers.... I was a bit shocked! Anyhow, they welded the Maganaflows & I had them install my 2nd Gen exhaust tips once again.

Long story short, my new Magnaflows sound deeper & much quieter than the Flowmasters BUT the flapping noise is NOT gone & on high RPM's when I open her up it rattles & truly sounds like a mid 80's V6 Chevy Celebrity or Chevy Corsica! I'm so mad... I've noticed that the noise seems to be coming from the 2nd Gen tips. When the air comes out the pipe it flaps against the walls of the OEM tips... Has this happened to anyone else? I swear I'm about to cut off those tips just to see what the exhaust sounds like without them

Do you have an x pipe, need full exhaust set up...
I deleted my 3rd cat and went true dual, raven mufflers ( flow master D-40 replicas) and gen2 tips... I get a flapping noise too...so

I did a single magnaflow with the dual 2.5 in and out, Deleted third cat. It sounds awesome I can't really hear it at low idle only when I rev up, and I don't have an x-pipe and I don't get that flapping noise.

Don't have an X-pipe as I know I should but it rumbles low & nice + remember, I'm unemployed so I can't afford it now. I know the x-pipe will give me more back pressure & it may sound even nicer. I also deleted the 3rd cat &my exhaust is from a 2007 LSC so it's a true dual!

What pisses me off is that I could've saved the CASH & just installed new tips.
so? lol... U like it? U deal with it? It sounds horrible... Sounds like a clunker! I don't want my Mark sounding like a clunker! lol...

The flapping noise will go away if you get an X pipe, or H will help, but will not be as good as an X. Without a way to balance the exhaust flow these 32V motor sound bad. If you had left the third cat it would not be flapping because the third cat is open to both pipes and helps balance exhaust flow.

That flapping crappy noise is because you dont have an xpipe not your tips.... all cars that dont have an x or h pipe sound like azz.

I've got Magnaflow Race series 2.5" core mufflers that are straight thru (not offset) and it doesn't 'flap' fwiw...

I'm pretty sure it's the x pipe or 3rd cat that is needed to stop the flappy noise, my X is in the mail, once I install it I'll let ya know if my flappy noise stops... And no I don't like the flappy noise, and I can tell that not having one has robbed the car of alot of power

Don't have an X-pipe

there is your problem
My car with "TRUE DUALS and no X/H pipe" sounded like a HAY HAULING PICKUP TRUCK.

I put in an H pipe as a test, and it got 200% better.
Then I migrated to an Xpipe and it got even better.

These cars sound like total AZZ with a non crossover style dual exhaust

Ultimate, where did your white car go?

SOLD!!! & IF YOU RECALL, I BOUGHT IT FOR $200.00... SOLD IT FOR $1,500.00 SWEET PROFIT! Got my transmission installed on my black '93 w/that money!

Ebay has 2.5" x-pipes for under $30 shipped.

Saw it a few weeks back. Ordering one now!

My X is in my trunk, sliding around from one side to the other. It's going to stay there for a while because I have too many other things going on right now before I make it to the exhaust.

I still have the Flowmasters for sale if someone wants them. 2.25 in and out. 40 series. NIB!

Haha... For a second there, I thought your X brace was sliding around in your trunk.

That wouldn't be good, at all. :p

That's where my Flowmasters are now, right in the trunk... that makes 2 of us selling Flowmasters I guess!

I only have the X pipe in the trunk. I need to get it out and put it under the bed or something. I had the Flowmasters on CL and I got some calls but never anyone coming to show cash. I'll try them on there again and lower the price. I just want to get them gone.
