Savagecat's Progress Thread

The guy said it was only 5.5 psi but I looked T the dyno results and I'm pretty sure it said 6.2 psi so when I call about the rebuild I'll see what the recommend for a pulley I don't want to go anymore then 10 I'd like 8 or 9

Pretty sure the Mustangs crank pulley is slightly smaller then ours which would be the reason why a Stang would have slightly lower boost.

Well that and the fact that boost is also a measure of restriction and being that our exhaust is more restrictive and our plenums not quite so free flowing that would cause a blower to make more boost even though its filling similar volume.

black snake on here, another mike, has a procharger on his mark, not sure if he left the imrc's on, i think they are on there but they pulled the motor for a rebuild so they may be off now not sure!

Well I'm pretty much screwed, I called Vortech today and they said they wouldn't touch it cause the serial number tag is missing on it. So my only option now is to buy another one or try to rebuild this one myself

Ok so I decided to waste some more money I just ordered a rebuild kit fromwww.928motorsports.com it was $262 and I think while I have the S/C off for the rebuild I figured I might as well order a smaller pulley for it I have a 3.6" pulley now and it made a max of 6.2psi so I think I'm gonna go with the 3.33" pulley and that should bring to 8-10psi. What I was wondering is if I'm gonna have any belt slippage and if I should get an intercooler/aftercooler and should I do any ignition mods like the boostaspark

I have a sett of brand new Granatelli coils but I was having problems with my last 2 sets of those when the car wasn't supercharged so I don't think I want to risk using those. There up on ebay right now if anyone want to buy them there brand new.

I was told by the place I got it tuned at to get an Innovator overdrive crank pulley instead of a smaller S/C pulley for less belt slippage but its alot more expensive.

You will also be overdriving the other components and they dont like that. You will be fine with your stock crank to around 10 psi as long as you have a good belt like a gatorback.

I have an underdrive crank and run 8psi with no slip. You would be suprised how little of my belt touches the crank pulley.

Well I started taking the S/C apart today

No everything looked fine, I just didn't want to risk screwing it up and have it explode in to my engine and then have to buy an new engine too, although that would give me the excuse to build my bottom end up

Well I don't know what to do now I just got this email:

"Hello Matthew,

Carl had started to rebuild your supercharger but stated that your impeller was running out-of-center on the shaft. The shaft is ok but the impeller has significant damage. You have two options. You can either purchase a good used impeller for $325.00 or a High Performance Billet Impeller for $576.00. You cannot run your supercharger without changing out the impeller. Let me know what you would like to do."

Honestly I wouldnt buy a used impellor but thats just me. I would bite the bullet and get one thats new or get the billet one. Better safe then sorry.

Well I talked them down to 220 for the used impellar and I can pay $60 for a one year warranty on it so I'm not too worried about it. I was ready to cry this morning when I got that email. The only reason I don't want that impellar is because it will be putting out a little more boost with it and I just bought a 3.33" pulley for it which should bring it up around 9lbs and I'd be afraid that I'd be over doing it with that impellar too. After all the money I've spent on this F'N used S/C I would have been better off buying a new one

Yeah I said the same thing when I bought mine. Still came out $1600 ahead with the used one but had it needed a rebuild then that would have killed $600 of that.

So I am confused, when you say "The only reason I don't want that impellar is because it will be putting out a little more boost with it" does that meen you dont want the used one or the one you have?

It means I dont want the aftermarket billet one, they say it flows about 15-20% better than the stock one

Oh! Sorry, totally misunderstood that. OK, that makes sense.

hey savagecat
*do you have a complete list of the pars for ur supercharger install

Yeah I'll try to make a list of everything that I actually used to make easier for others, I ended up ordering alot of stuff that didn't work.

I finally recieved my SC back from 928 Motorsport yesterday and am alittle angry I don't know if its a big deal or not but the good used impellar that they sold me has a couple knicks in it I just emailed them to see what the deal is with it

I'm not istalling it today cause I'm going up to New Hampshire, I wish I wasn't all I want to do is get it done and drive, I think I'm gonna go up to New England Dragway next Friday, its the last day they're open this year, kind of cutting close.
