It's dark out now, so I will post pics tomorrow.

Anyway, she needs some TLC, but I have a feeling it'll be worth it in the end. Needs a RF hub, and lower ball joint. The hub is pretty damn loud, almost afraid to drive the damn car. Needs rear upper strut mounts, those are loud as all hell too. Smog pump needs to be replaced before it'll pass inspection. Theres a rust spot on the drivers door which needs to be taken care of fairly soon before it rusts through. Oh, and I need to find a damn center cap.

I went into it knowing it needed some work, but like I said, it'll be worth it. :cool:

if you can hear a hub bearing making noise as you drive it, then you have every reason to be afraid...stop driving it and fix it before you loose the wheel
with that said, what did you pay for a vehicle with bad bearings and shock mounts and smog pump
 
he works as a mechanic for a dealer, and his dad has been one for over 20 years, i'm sure he can handle it. post the damn pics already!
 
Well heres one. And no, the air ride works just fine, I was adjusting ride height and had to start on the ground.

I need a center cap!!!! Someone PLEASE sell me an Octastar center cap!!!! lol

Got it ready to go and the other one is going to Dan. After that, I have one left but it's not near mint condition like the other two are. Someone used a scrub brush or something when cleaning their wheels. I bought it from someone on here but the others that came off my 94 are like mirrors.

if someone else could help out my little nephew, he needs a driver side headlight assembly in a bad way, no bulbs needed, just a decent housing for a reasonable price, if anyone has something please speak up, thanks.

So tomorrow at work, I'm putting in the new hub. Next week will be rear strut mounts, so that will take care of noises. Then I'll get it registered, then get that smog pump done, then she should be good to go to pass RI state inspection! Driving on illegally attached plates from my old car kinda scares me a little. I need to go back to MA Thursday, but don't really want to, as the car clearly doesn't have a MA inspection sticker on it.... ahhhh hell, guess I'll have to live on the edge lol
 
they are shock mounts in the rear no struts back there. and if you need another smog pump tell me and i will mail one up to you. man i'd love to know what jeffery thinks, i know gramma had to have told him you bought a mark VIII, that kid will never have a car!

Yea, I'm pretty sure she told him, but who the hell knows. Me and Joann are debating weather or not we want to drive down in September, or fly. She seems to be leaning toward flying.

as many problems as these cars have, ive yet to be in one that stops running and plumets to the earth....ill stick to driving :)
 
you are a whole lot closer to being killed in a car than an airplane, i know the chances of living through a plane crash are slim, but you drive everyday, you fly every once in a blue moon, way easier to die in a car! plus thats a long haul for an 18 year old kid, and my sister isnt that bright and he already said there is no way in hell he will let her drive part of the trip, smart kid!!!
and andy, if you say mom, i know who you are talking about lmfao you dont have to type your mothers name in order for me to know who you are refering too lol!

I may be willing to give up a driver's side headlight assembly. I'll look and see what I've got and the condition...
 
Bah, i was driving from NY to Cali when I was 18, even tho I went thru Canada for the majority of the trips, good times

Both of the 2nd Gens in the yard are missing all lights, so I'm no help there

Sure car wrecks are more "likely", but when a car wrecks, you're already there...when I plane breaks down, it hasn't even made it to the scene of the crash yet
 
well not everyone likes long trips dude, i know i have driven back and forth from mass to florida, or florida to mass a bunch of times now, and i would much rather get 1300 miles in 2 1/2 hours vrs 22 hours so you can take your car trips, i'll fly!
 
So I got this thing up in the air today at work, and holy :q:q:q:q. I have some serious work ahead of me. Needs upper and lower, left and right side ball joints, and control arms. Looks like it has some kind of power steering leak. Plus the smog pump and rear shock mounts. Also, the crank pulley has a wobble in it, and the tensioner squeals so that needs to be replaced. And, noticed this morning, it has no heat. Most likely a blend door? I talked to the kid and tried to get my money back, and pretty much got told off, so now I'm into it.
 
andy pay for a plane ticket for me and i will come up and do the whole front end and blend door for you in one day. your gonna spend some loot for front end parts, blend door is cheap but the labor to do it is the killer, ford gets 8.6 hours for a blend door i have gotten them down to 60 minutes flat!
