Not a bad idea....carry a spare tire so why not carry a spare car.

Stopping distance have anything do with the towing of that spare car? Hope your all ok, looks like no airbags went off.

Wow that sucks! Hope the truck gets fixed up real good.

On a brighter note, what did you run?

Damn!

All I can say is you did a good job strapping the car down or else the Mark might have as much damage as your truck!

+A million for properly securing your load...

Do you have trailer brakes?

Also, why weren't you just driving the car instead of towing it?

sorry about the truck any story did you fall asleep J/K
but I think you should polish your front drag wheels just take the paint off and polish the aluminum make them shine and your car is sexy as was your truck

wow that sucks JP sorry to see that, im sure you were found at fault too right? i also give you credit for strappin down the mark, it could have ended up inside the bed. hope no one got hurt. looks like no one had the pleasure of stuffing their face into the air bags either, not a hard enough impact apparently, looks like nothing went near the crash sensors, just above and below. hope it all gets fixed up for you.

That is the first thing I thought to myself.. damn good job securing the car!

"hats off" for not letting a little fender bender stop you from racing.

sorry bout your truck

That sucks... that hitch took a beating along with everything else.
+ 1 on the tie down it payed off

My Brother fliped a truck open trailer and a 66 nova in the early 90s it makes for a bad day.

Damn, that sucks.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess one lane wasn't moving and you thought it was moving normal? Or something got in your way and the back of the semi was your 'easy out'. ..

Was that a factory hitch?

If it bent the frame like it appears it did I wouldn't doubt if the truck got totaled, they are really picky about any repairs to truck frames, especially if they are cracked at all.

Are those trucks supercharged?

No injuries. First estimate on the truck was $13K. :(

Traffic was thickening and had slowed to ~50 mph. I was in the middle lane and a semi in the right lane suddenly moved to the center lane in front of me. At that moment I saw a trooper parked off to the right shoulder. Once the semi was fully in my lane I saw his brake lights and I immediately hit the brakes checking my mirrors for an escape route but I was hemmed in on both sides. The truck braked harder and I did the same but the distance was closing fast. For a moment I thought we were going to come to a stop without incident but at the end he braked even more and the squall of the brakes preceded the impact. The airbags did not deploy.

The semi simply 'invaded my space' and left me with no reaction time. The semi driver has switched lanes and braked hard because of traffic backing up ahead, which of course I could not see. Of course, I was cited for failure to maintain control and "traveling too fast for conditions".

This was the 3rd trip to Atlanta and the SSHS event for me. This spring I started trailering the car to long weekend events like this because of the lack of room with all the tools, tires and luggage. This was the 3rd trip with the car on the trailer. The wife, son and daughter-in-law were all along for this trip, so even less room than normal. We had to rent a car for the rest of the trip and I drove the Blue Flame.

When I bought the trailer this spring, I mounted a set of HD rubber wheel chocks to the trailer with deck screws to have something to pull up against each time I loaded the car. Since the accident, I've seen literally dozens of car haulers with no such wheel chocks. The impact caused the front straps to become unhooked from the trailer. No doubt the chocks were responsible for helping keep the car in check on the trailer.

I was going to trailer the car to Maryland this coming weekend for another track event, but it looks like I'll be driving solo. :(

It was a factory receiver since the truck came with the tow package. The right rear frame horn supposedly is bent according to the estimate. No fluids were leaking but they say everything in front of the fan needs replaced, radiator, AC condenser, tranny cooler, the works.

The '06 is a plain 5.4L 3-valve.

Wow. Maybe I'm just an ass, but I'd take that situation to court and let that truck driver know I'm not f'g around, that if I lose in court, he's going to be covering the expense according to a different justice system.

If a person has traffic ahead, only move into a faster lane if there is ample room, match the flow, don't mess with it.

Do you have brakes on the trailer on both axles?

If not it's a damn good investment.

Yep.

That is huge... gotta have brakes!

Was any damage done to where you had the straps hooked to the Blue Flame?

Nope.

Likely not really worth it. It was in Anderson, SC - quite a way to travel from northern WV. The fine is cheaper than the gas to get to court and back. My license is clean so any points aren't gonna bother me. From what I understand, I can plead no contest and pay the fine online. AAA is paying most if not all of the tow, rental car, hotel and meals. I'm still waiting on the final results from the insurance company.

The boss wasn't happy about it though. :(
