My Mark VIII is slammed!

Hello everyone, my name is J and I am a new proud owner of a 1993 Mark VII. I love the car but the only problem with it is that the car is slammed to the ground and I want to fix the air suspension. When I turn on the car, the air compressor runs but after 90 seconds it stops and the "Check Air Suspension light" comes on. I really want to fix the air suspension. Can anyone please tell me how to fix it?
 
Geebus. Nope, nobody here has ever has any air suspension problems so its never talked about.

He offers no information at all. "My air is broke, compressor runs for 90 seconds, fix it for me" is of no use.

Had he said if the car starts to lift at all then we could start to point him the right way. For now it could be a bad comp and leaking bags, just a bad comp, stuck solenoids, broken air lines... etc etc.

This one was around the corner from me, well both were but in opposite directions. I think they drove them too long like that and now they're both fukked.

no slammed mark is fukked, springs will fix em! look at yours, it was beyond fukked with the air lines cut completely out of it and look how purdy she sits today!! :)

All it needs is dingleballs and the little doggie in the back with the head that goes up and down...

True but neither of these owners had any interest in fixing them and now both cars are gone and I haven't seen them since. The one in the first pic was driven like that for 2 or more years. I'm sure his suspension parts were shot. Not "unfix-able" but without knowledge and the money for the parts, I would almost bet the first one is setting in a yard somewhere ready to be crushed. He had 240K back then and it used to be a northern car.

I even offered him a dent free trunk lid if he wanted to come get it for nothing and a light bar but he wouldn't even drive 2 minutes to come get it. Now he rides that motorcycle in the rain. I still see it setting there and he said he owned it. Called the bike "his baby"
 
The compressor does not run anymore. as soon as I turn on the engine the "Check air suspension: comes on. I had reset the system but the message still shows. When the compressor was running, the car did not lift up at all when the compressor was running.

your compressor doesnt come on anymore because you have been driving the car with a leak for so long the compressor locked up trying to keep the air ride full, how long has it been slamming, because i garauntee it didnt " just " start doing it.
 
meineke shop will the to converted coil suspension for $1000 buck with part and labor. They use the americansuspension parts. check them out, that was the price that i was quoted here in california. maybe there cheaper else where. good luck and welcome!!

Wow, ummm if you don't like doing your own work on cars then I guess that's the route to go. If you like working on cars you can save 70% of that huge #.

Damn! I was obviously too cheap doing a conversion for somebody for 150 labor! That guy vanished from LvC soon after... Hope I didn't leave something loose and inadvertently cause his demise... :shifty:

Anyway, screw paying Meineke nearly 600 labor - would rather find a proper mechanic shop.

Dang that's about what I paid a shop to install the headers on my car and do all the welding and bends for the exhaust. I'd think the spring conversion should only be like 300 Labor at most.
 
no wonder why i never made any money, i cant find people stupid enough to pay that kind of labor jesus christ, $1000 parts and labor? thats totally rediculous.

Ya it is, but if you own a Lincoln these places assume you're quite well-off, probably don't own automotive tools and don't want to bother getting your hands dirty or learn something new. And in many, MANY cases they're right. And they make money off these people hand over fist. Hey, more power to em. I work in the service sector too (glass), and wish that there were more people like this. They keep the machine running. :lol:

This is the sole reason why our Mark VIII's are not worth squat. The Mark 7's already had a horrible reputation with the slamming air ride then the Mark MK8 came around & the consumer noticed that the ridiculously expensive air ride system situation wasnt fixed. Lincoln continued making 70,000 mile air ride parts & when it came time to fix them Lincoln themselves charged you a mammoth amount allowing for independent mechanics to charge very expensive as well. The air ride suspension is not rocket science but they made it seem so. This is what killed the Mark VIII.
 
Yes I did. Today when I started my car, the air compressor ran and it started to inflate my front air bags but I can hear the air rushing out of the front air bags so I know that I have a leak. The rear bags was not filling up. I was shocked that the compressor was running because I kept getting the "check air suspension" light everytime I start the car up and the compressor would not run for the past week. When I tried to jack up the rear of the car from the slammed position, the wheel stayed tuck underneath the wheel well as the car raised. DO i have a frozen compressed shock that is keeping the wheel Up?
 
Something is keeping it jammed up there. Could be the shock. Have you tried pulling it down with some force. Make sure the jack isn't in the wrong spot making the wheel stay up.
