WHEN DOES IT FUGKING END?!?!?!? My car sits again!!! This time it's not it's fault. I hit a bump (bottom of my car) coming out of a parking lot last night. When I'm half a block away I heard a scraping sound for about a second, then a couple blocks down, again, about a mile later again, every time the car would bounce, something would scrape...
I get home I look under the car & none other than my break line came loose & was torn back. The line was crimped & pulled back so it didnt leak brake fluid so I was saved by the very incident but more importantly, the fuel line is next to it.
I havent had a chance to look at the fuel line. I left to work in my truck this morning so as soon as I get home I will jack up the car to see the damage! Hopefully nothing else went wrong. Either way I was saved by the grace of God. My brakes could've gone out or the scraping of a broken fuel line could've combusted!

I WILL POST A PICTURE AS SOON AS I GET HOME!

One of the biggest reasons I like my braces are that they keep that section of fuel line and brake line from hitting the ground when I bottom out. Many times I have stared at those lines and the dents on the thin cover over them thinking how easy they would be to kill.

Sorry about the dammage. Shouldnt be hard finding a line and while it is time consuming its not that bad of a job.

you must have planted that bastard into the ground hard to rip off a brake line i would inspect it very well if you managed to do that i could only imagine whatelse under the car could be damaged too. that sucks but fixing a brake line wont be hard or expensive. learn how to drive dumb ass lol!!!!!! :)

Help!!!

I deserve that!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact that is the EXACT word I told myself when I went over the hump! (Wasn't your average roundish hump, more like a triangle shaped 7 ft wide/4 inch high hump)

Ok, guys, listen up!!! I need your input! I got home now, changed & immediately went under my car (as much as I could) left the car running on Park & checked the line, IT IS NOT A BRAKE LINE!!! IT'S ONE OF THE FUEL LINES!!! See pics below!!!:(:(

That being said, it's the one attached to a black rubber hose right as it goes into the passenger side fender well! I'm assuming it's a vacuum line of some sort because it wreaks like fuel but it's SUPER dry.I moved it a bit & it amost snapped off!

EVAP VAC line. Connects to the breather setup on the gas tank.

someone else needs to chime in but i am pretty sure you can cut out the damaged section and replace it with rubber fuel line and some hose clamps. cut it with a tiny pipe cutter dont use a sawzall or hacksaw you dont want to make a spark!

Yup, could just run a rubber line with no problem. Gotta make sure its vac line though so it dont collapse.

and also want to make sure it is one that can handle gas, otherwise it will just wilt away with time, Jamie, im suprised you didn't say anything about him saying it was next to the fuel line, the brake line is on the opposite side of the car

like i was paying 100% attention to what he did lol i dont live on here and see who does what and when so i can chime in like i am a :q:q:q:qing mark VIII super hero geeze.

sometimes the people behind me seem to get mad that I creep over speed bumps and out of drives very slowly and at an angle

if im making a left into a shopping center i go nice and slow and more often then not the people behind me ride my ass, only to honk and freak out at oncoming traffic

Yup, I would do exactly what Jamie said. I think fuel line would work better than just regular vacuum line. Your very lucky though...

Fuel line collapses under vacume. Fuel line is resistant to expansion not ....... opposite of expansion.

There is a specific kind of line they use for that and its a short section of rubber then a section of hard plastic line. Really though there is no fuel in that line, only fumes. Regular vac line will work fine.

I was going to chime in on the brake lines
not being next to the fuel, but ya figured it out before I could get time to post, lol

I just crawled out from under an 03 Saturn i300, did a fuel pump for some cash to cruise tomorrow !!!!

Anyway, not even using those evap lines on my car...some previous owner bypassed all that stuff...i'm using the fuel feed and return and that's it

you can snag those lines from a salvage yard dude, if you want to replace them...just blow them out before you install...lines are generally cheap as dirt and it's not really all that hard of an install

I'm 100% positive it's the vac line! Like I said, I got under there with the car running. All I got was fumes! PURE FUMES! Plus, if the real deal was pouring out I think it would be all over the place when I went to check it(Line is no longer crimped, I loosened it up)!

I thought about the hose thing last night while I was out with my g/f (Yes, my mind was on the car while I was with her, lol) The only thing is I have to get creative because this broken fuel line leads into a black hose, I cannot feed one black hose into another black hose of the same diameter! I'm going to have to use a piece of the already broken pipe to create a link inbetween hoses.
Alright, as usual, I will post pics of the process & final result!

PS: I WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE MY LINCOLN TO A LOCAL CAR SHOW TODAY!!! SUCKS MAJOR RHINOCEROS BALLS!

Thanks for the pointing in the right direction guys! As always, with the help of fellow enthusiasts it was a quick job. I think it took me longer just to get the parts I needed at Advanced Auto Parts than I did installing this.

Rear part of the line (where it was crimped). Used my tube cutter as seen below, nice sooth cuts, clean line!

Hose end where the tube popped out from. (I noticed a chunk of hose missing, it was torn off)

Mended the piece that was bent back, cut the rear end of the piece so it's smooth, nice & round. Attached hose & clamp on both ends of the tube.

Attached rear of hose to remainder of line with TWO clamps (why not?) lol... Better be safe than sorry.

Clean install!

Used 3 zip ties to ensure that the hose doesn't drop down.

Now for the bad news!

Take a look at the pictures below! That's the MAIN fuel line! It's really bad! In the 2nd picture you can see it has a sharp edge to it, you can tell it's been like that for a while because it's rusted! I used pliers to squeeze the line a bit to give it slack & open it back up a bit because it was badly crimped. It didn't do much. Should I expect a lack of fuel at high speeds &/or open throttle?

Good job on the vac line. I am sorry to say this but you need to replace that fuel line. Thats a very very bad crimp and there is no way in hell it can feed enough fuel when you get over 3000 RPM at WOT. You can hurt the car real bad. :(

It's not a fuel supply or return line. It's the emission vap return line. You destroyed both of the emission lines.

Regardless both fuel supply and return line (the 5/16 lines) are also crimped, not bad, but still damaged. Replace the whole set of 4 lines with OEM pieces from a donor car, and learn how to drive to avoid such accidents.

Huh, for some stupid reason I always thought the larger line was the feed line for the fuel filter. Oil well, I iz teh doomb.

Ok... so that means that the thick line is another line full of nothing but vapor? never the less when I decide to do this I need to learn how to take these lines off without ruining my car! I can imagine I will be spilling some fuel once I unplug them! Then what happens after I install the new lines? Is there something I should do before I start the car?

my emission vapor line looks like that. looked like that longer than a year. no problems.
