LaserSVT 97 LSC progress thread

Pics look great Laser! The only thing I could think of however was that dirt road is going to get everything so dirty! ;)

Yeah, I freakin hate the dirt road. :( I was going to detail it and then take some good pics but since my road is still wet and its supposed to drizzel tonight I only washed it instead and polished the wheels. Since I have 4 days off next week I will detail it then (weather permitting) and get some good pics.

As for the hood, its been fixored. :D

Another minor update for progress. Since my Xtant is fried and I cant stand the 2+ hours a day with no tunes I went ahead and ordered myself an X-mas present. :D Got a great deal on a new JL Audio 500/5 for well under half MSRP. :wrench
Its the cleanest 5 channel made and has pretty decient power.

Well my amp showed up today and at 10PM I decided to install it since sleep is not gonna happen.
Gotta say its a much better amp then my Xtant. Much much more power and wonderful sound quality. My Xtant had a warmer tone though but with some eq adjustments the JL will get better.
After 2 hours trying to figure out why the sub wouldnt work I found a break in a splice I did which has me curious if that was causing the old amp to go into protect mode. I may check it out if I have time.
Heres a couple pics.

Yup. Would have been done in 20 minutes had I not spent a couple hours chasing down a no sub issue. When the remote coms I have to pull the rear seat out and then I can adjust the gains again. They are too high and the stereo is much louder at the same level it used to play at. Thats not an issue but it makes the system more balenced at certain volumes then it does others and I can hear hiss when the CD is paused. I have the gains at 1/3 so I am gonna back them down to 1/4. I put in a live CD and opened the doors then walked down 400 feet to my shed and I could feel the bass leaning against the shed and the music was clear and loud, really shocked me. Just a great amp and I havent pushed it yet as I need a little x-over tweaking and level adjusted. I have the x-overs set at 80hz low and 95hz high at 12db. Gonna try 90/90 at 24db but will proly put the sub back to 12db cause it has better impact. I only have the bass eq at +2 and when I put it at +8 the car really slammed so I cant wait for the remote. :)

finding a way to run the power wire was impossilbe for me.looks great!

Wow this thread was a great read, love the progress. Getting me movitated to spend a couple hundred and get the heavy duty rebuild kit for the spare transmission I have sitting at my shop, so that when I do get my gen 2 that will already be done and all set.

UPDATE:

So I just got done ordering my next round of mods. :wrench

Well its almost over. Within the next 24 hours she will be sitting in this spot on bricks with no suspension, brakes, wheels or a brain. Hopefully someone will take her heart and legs and then Chris will get her skin. Gonna miss the old girl. :(
