LaserSVT 97 LSC progress thread

Yeah I just noticed the inside of the passenger rear tire when I was under it. It got chopped up when I drove to the alignment shop and so I rotated it to the rear and lit it up to smooth it out (redneck style). The center of it and the other tires are still 4/32" so its gonna stay for a few more months untill I can afford new wheels. Cant see spending $400 on new tires only to replace them quickly after with new wheels and tires.
Gonna put the ten spokes up for sale soon. :D

My Addco bar should be here soon. Had to wait for it to be made because nobody is carrying inventory at the moment (Bill mentioned he's probably going to buy a few to hang on to for his stock because Addco's taking so long - very stand up guy).

Getting the brackets to bolt back up with the new bushings... does anybody think it might be worth shimming them to help make it fit nicer?

Tommy's was fine too... must have to do with Texas...

BTW you can't replace just the pinion, gear SETS are just that, a SET... they lap them together at the factory, there is no replacing them one by one...
 
Yeah, the new set is on the way now for the gears. I researched a little and discovered that and the dude that sold me the gears said he wouldnt do it that way eaither.


And thats one thing about my car. Has not a spot of rust anywhere except the axle and they get that 2 days after they roll off the line. :D
 
So the new gears showed up today and they are pristine! Guy really took good care of me and his customer service was first rate. He said that he would give any of my friends the same deal on 4.10s or 3.55s as well at $70 shipped. If anyone wants his info then PM me. I am really stoked! :D

Thanks! Me too. I like how in person under different lighting it will look blue or deep purple. Its a neat paint color.
 
Definitely a neat color indeed.

I have black... and while black may look cool to some people. It generally stays black and under different light its not only black, its dirty, boring and shows every blemish and flaw in the paint. I can wash it and the next day i get comments "hey do you ever wash your car?" Lol...so yeah, its black and quite boring.. Oh, did i mention its black?

I really like the cordovan ce...i would love to mod the hell outta one of them...then add tint and saleen speedstars, 19's or so. *drools*
 
Yup, used Deep Jewel for the touch up paint. Blends well.
 
To answer your question about the diff. You do need a center pin and the bolt that holds it in place. Without it your diff pinion gears will walk out of the diff carrier the "s" spring won't hold them in.
 
Oh yeah, sorry. Thats an old post and has been answered already. I am going to be using the pin and retaining bolt from my open diff. :)
 
Minor update,
Max is teh man and I am getting some OEM strut rod bushings with the sleeves next week as well as the rest of my rear end stuff.
Nov 11th its getting them installed and aligned with some new tires all the way around.
Nov 16th it gets dropped off to have the fender and bumper corrected as well as remove all the dents and dings it has all over.
Then Dec 2nd it has an appointment for the Trak Loc and gears to be installed.
On Dec 16th I will be ordering my exhaust from Geno and if it showes up soon enough then it will be installed by x-mas.
Cant wait! I love new mods and since I spend a few hours every day in the car I want it to be a nice couple hours. :D

Here is mine... put car away for winter on the 26th... take it out someday in the distant future when the weather doesn't suck ass!
 
I should always plan to change my plans. :lol:

I am only doing the alignment and bushings on the 11th now because I am gonna get those chrome Saleens from Chris. So that will eat up my body/paint money and I just reschedualed that for December second. Car should look killer though before x-mas with fresh paint, no dents and some 18" Saleens. :D
That also means the gears will be delayed till January as well as the exhaust but I had always figured if some Saleens popped up I would jump on them cause they are my favorite wheel on the Mark. I really wanted silver ones but the chrome should look nice with the Evergreen. :)

I really wanted silver ones but will settle for the chrome. Should look cool with my cars color.
