It is a bad motor, debating between parting and fixing.

What should I do?

So we finally got it together and did a test fire. She still makes the same noise but at first it was accompanied by a loud squeal which was most definatly a crank bearing. Very loud and went away after enough oil was pumped in. This is a very sad day for me.

I have to make some calls and speak to some of you on here on the phone to decide what I am gonna do. Realize I am flat broke right now and am unemployed. I will not make this decision lightly and will weigh all my options over the next several days as I decide what I want to do.

The blower will be sold weather its on the car or not. I will sell the blower with everything needed for install should I decide to part the car or without fuel rail if I keep the car. So anyone wanting a COMPLETE KB setup for a Mark then PM me and we will get down to brass tax.... or tacs..... whatever.

The logistics and cost of getting a motor here are substantial and will eat away about half of what I sell the blower for. On top of that I really don't wanna do an engine swap. Sapperfire is all about helping me do it and I applaud him but the size of the job including pulling a donor and then getting it here and then installing it are making me dizzy.

So I am also seriously considering parting out the whole car. I have a buyer for the wheels and for a little more I am sure he will take the newish tires too. I would keep the new OEM Air Ride crap, the brakes, the braces, exhaust, stereo and rear end. Difference is this time I would get a Mark in the color I want and with an OEM moon roof. You all don't know how much that crap bugs me on my car. Yeah its nice but it still bugs me.

I sincerely think the car is a jinx. Yeah the engine was 100% my fault for running it so long at 17lbs of boost but gawd dang I have never had a single car get hit so many times ...... much less in such a short time. Plus I don't like graphite interior.


So I have these and many more things to think about in coming days to decide what I am gonna do.
 
If i ever have a nice car for sale... I am never selling it to you... cause it will end up parted for no reason at all. Sorry your post pissed me off.

Your green one was nice as hell too and should have been fixed. :-/
 
Damn, would love to get my hands on the blower. Just dont have a lump sum.

I would swap in another engine, before I parted that car out. If it were a :q:q:q:qbox I would say do it, but there are less and less clean ones everyday.
 
Yeah me and Sapper are sitting here having a safety meeting and breakin it all down. Leaning to the engine swap but its bummin me out. If GMANs is still good then I gotta sell the blower to buy his motor and get the equipment needed to do the swap PLUS use up Jeremys days off to do a day full of driving and back breaking work and then take his next day off to install it with me cause I am a pussy and cant do it by myself. So I am over $1000 to do it IF GMAN still has and will sell me his motor.

I have nothing but time but the thought on how to get the motor out in my car port and mave it all around in of itself has me spinning a bit.
Like I said though, this is a thought exercise and these are the things I am weighing over the next few days. So everyone keep up the comments and opinions.
 
I have a 78k mile engine from a 98 cali car, will do a partial trade for the blower. PM me if you want to talk.
Shipping an engine is not a big deal. I shipped lots of body panels to a guy in texas on here back in the day.
 
If I were you I would park the car until the finances pick back up. Don't sell for pennies on the dollar for what may be a temporary situation, you are going to regret the hell out of it later. Maybe you can work something out for Gman to keep his black interior and sell it to you when you have the money if you hate yours so much. When my Mustang blew up back in 1998 I kept it for 4 years before building another engine. I even hauled it to Michigan from North Carolina. You have a lot into this car, and with the proper fix you could get good money for it. Get a beater and forget about her for a while until you can do it right.

fix the damn car. its just the engine, i know money is tight ,but you have time on your side while you are unemployed. who cares if it takes weeks to accomplish the job.

Because I live in the middle of nowhere and can't be without a car and can't buy one.


In any case I am lookin into buying a motor. I need to sell the blower though and that sucks ass. So I will sell the bowe complete with the frshly serviced injectors, new crank pulley, all intake tobes, filter, MAF, wideband, gauge, boost module and belt for $2800. I am in it well past that and that and its in perfect shape. The gauge setup is over $450 by itself. This is the 2.2 kit with the optional bypass valve.
 
Why can't you buy a cheap beater? Sell one of your guns or something else and buy a cheap car to get around in until you can fix the Mark. If you start selling things off of the car the only one you will be screwing is yourself. Your car with the blower and working engine is worth 8-10 grand.

Yeah I know the car is worth a lot complete but why can't you understand I can't afford the repair without selling the blower? I sold the only firearm worfth ANY money to finance the rest of the blower crap. Only thing I have that I can sell and will cover it is the blower.

Ah so I should live 20 miles from anywhere with no car while I save up for 6 months to fix it? Sure thing! How about if I get another job? Just hitch hike? Maybe one of the farm tractors will pick me up?
 
I tell you what dude, do what you have to do then. You asked for opinions and I gave you mine. If you want to screw yourself, feel free to do so as it is no skin off of my nose. $500 would have gotten you a beater and given you time to fix your car, but feel free to sell your sh!t for pennies on the dollar. Forgive me for even trying to help you out.

if you read the whole thread youd see that bill is currently unemployed from what i am reading is that he cant afford to spend an extra 500 dollars. not everyone is rolling in the dough like you seem to be. i wasnt gonna even comment on this thread till i read what you have been saying.. just straight a$$hole IMO.
 
I agree with marked8... just buy some cheap piece of :q:q:q:q to drive for under 500 dollars... sell your wheels and put some stockers on it. You will have enough money for a beater.
 
Dang Laser, I'm really sorry to hear that. I was following your progress with some interest.

I wish I had the cash to get your blower right now, but I have to agree with the others - buy a cheap ricer for $200 and just get around until you can fix the car. You won't be happy until you have that KB roaring again, and you never know what kind of luck you will run into - people join this site all the time, and people sell their stuff all the time. Don't you be that guy. Hang on to the baby.

I was willing to chip in money to help him keep his car together because I know how hard he has worked to get the car together. If you have a problem with me, take it to e-mail or keep the sh!t to yourself moron. I know Bill's situation and that he is planning to do things out of frustration.
