how would you invest 5k for more hp?

Oh ya, the Mark VIII aluminum block is a really big deal. It is lighter and stronger, according to people like Sean Hyland(sp)

First 4:10's or more.
Then a high stall converter [3500 or more]
Then a shift kit and a full tranny build.
Then a forged bottom end with stainless valves and bigger injectors.
Then a whole :q:q:q:qload of nitrous with a good progressive controller.
And a wicked :q:q:q:qin' tune done by the best to make it all come together.

THAT IS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laser thank you so much man for taking the time to clear stuff up for me. Words cant express how much I appreciate your help. I have copied and pasted everything you wrote down and emailed it to my uncle.hopefully this will clear up some things for him.Is bill at super coupe the only one that sells headers for the mark? Is ther anyway you can email me a link to pics of your set up so I can send those to him as well? Thanks again.

if you are going to use c heads you will also need the front timing cover cause they are different. And yes supercoupe is the only place to buy the headers...he owns the rights and has kooks build them. That being said...the most bang for your buck using your existing set-up will be...4:10's, trac-loc, one piece drive shaft, updated tranny with a stahl, and a good tune. If your wanting more I would seriously consider building a c head motor, or for no more than you want buying a complete c head motor and doing the swap. Enough people have done it now to lend a hand and make it doable.

I didn't read this as it was long. If your in Pekin IL, I have a guy in Bloomington that will build you a motor cheap. PM me and I will give you his number. I would find a junkyard Mark VIII block and buy forged internals and go from there. That is what I did for my 04 Mach 1. I have a vortech V-2 SQ that I will sell you if your interested. I also have 42lb/hr injectors and other things that will help you build your motor. PM me if your interested and I also need some body work if you do side work.

small world huh philly? thought me and k9t8m was the only 2 on here.nice seeing someone else. yes i do body and paint work and have 20 years of doing it daily under my belt.my grandfather owned a body shop then my dad took it over many many years ago and i was literally born sniffing paint and dust! I dont know if that's a good thing. I also do alittle pdr work. I pinstripe like the old school guys do for thats who teached me.I have pinstriped many hot rods, rat rods and custom bikes.I can do real flames, gold leafing, marbleizing and many other things also. like i said on the other post or thread i havent done a complete car or truck job in awhile on the side just mostly alot of bikes around pekin.Thats why I really wanted to get started on my car while im off work so I can finish it before they end up calling me back.Oh and I have this brand 2 brand new in the box chip foose $1400.00 sata jets im just dying to use. :). dont know much about engine stuff and dont know if i could just a complete stranger (your friend) to do the job,I dont know maybe, just dont know.If i was going to pay someone to do it It would just make me feel better if it were a reputable business. If my unc doesnt decide soon if he wants to tackle it I might just pay a local shop close by to do it by the name of best automotive.pm me on what you got in mind for the body or paint work.Just keep in mind I dont do rust, not that I cant, just that I dont like it,kinda like been there and done way to much of it. for the past 5 years I ran a body shop and did all the paint work for mitsu there in normal right off the motorway next to the plant.when they stopped making the raider in detroit things got slow for me.well gotta run i'll holler at ya'll tommorrow.

Put the 5k down on a 03-04 cobra and you will have the power you want! I had an 03 back in 2005 with just bolt ons and a tune and made 450 to the wheels:D Damn, I should have never sold it for that twin turbo supra;)

Kenny Bell does not make a SC kit for the Mark Vlll. The one I have is put together from a Tuner Kit for the 99 + Cobras. It utilizes "C" heads and also incorporates the inter cooler feature that allows for higher boost. An " Aluminator" motor would not be a bad start for the money, but as you probably have noticed the KB SC setup is above your projected spending limits. I am running 14 lbs boost on 93 octane and no meth kit and have no problems.

My buddy has his own shop and owns several Marks and has built many motors. I would never let just anybody touch any of my cars. While he doesn't just build motors, he is capable of doing anything to any FLM product. He just doesn't charge as much as other shops do. He will also tell you what to buy and where to get cheap.

thats an idea philly.does your friend use this forum? I have a meeting with jerry best down the road with me today, might talk it over at lunch.I'll get an idea of what he would want to do it then I'll pm ya to see what your guy thinks.after talking to chris(k9t8m) I have concluded that gears, lok, tranny upgrades is a must.I am also considering doing the big brake system on her, which sucks if i do cause i just put new rotors and pads all the way around it last year.If I go with all that and consider it to be a must then tops i can put in engine upgrades is $3,500.Although with additional funds available and if the price is right it is safe to say i would go ove that amount for right set up.I would like to have setup like lasers or roadboss's.I have been pricing brand new cobra heads that are beefed up alittle and it looks like that would put me back 2 to 3k alone.might be cheaper just to buy like laser said regular c heads and just have someone build them for me.it's really nice to get ideas from you guys and i appreciate it,it allows me to put together a plan on what i want before i speak to anyone on doing it. at this point having my uncle do the engine i think it aint gonna happen.I'll have him do everything else but I would feel more comfortable leaving it up to a modular pro instead. as far as the ls or g8 ideas forget it. I dont want nothing but my M8 to be built the way I invisioned it to be. thanks again for the input.

No he is not on here, he works about 12 hours a day everyday. He is cheap, so he has a lot of business. If you want I can ask him what he charges for labor now. Years ago I had him do my trac-lok and gears. He charged me $100.

For what it is worth. I'm going on the record and saying that you should NOT use a one bolt tensioner cover on a markviii. The viii ac compressor tubing will not work with it. The stock viii cover will work just fine.

Also....

My 2000 dollar c head engine has tons more snap than the old one. Ask anyone who has ridden in it here.

94m5 you say you only have 2k in your c head engine? If so please elaborate more and pm me with the details. thank you. Talking to dennis reinhart tommorrow and also taking a trip down the road to speak with my local speed shop. Have came to the conclusion I am going to be well over my initial budget of 5k for everything its looking more like up to 9k maybe alittle more.I am going to make some new suspension parts purchases,as well as a rebuild kit and paying someone to do it for the tranny.I am also doing the 410's I think with lok.I will also be purchasing the cobra r hood and some jet coated headers. As far as the whole go fast thingy goes with what i have left over maybe 4k(hoping more) I will see where that gets me.I know it aint gonna get me all new forged lower end parts but maybe it will get a decent build.

I have

2004 marauder long block 2000$
2004 Mach1 intake manifold200$
Edelbrock billet fuelrails 80$
Homebuilt -6 braided fuel system with aftermarket regulator to keep the twin 255 pumps in check. ~350$
C-Head alternator 100$
Coil on plug swap~ 150 total
-----------------------------------------

the engine came from Colorado mustang specialists in aurora Colorado. It is a mustang salvage facility, same for the intake. Everything else came through jegs or summit. Alot of your "budget" is gonna depend on how much of the labor you do yourself. Save for a few complicated/precision parts; I do everything myself.

But for a quick horsepower increase I can't say enough about a quick c-head longblock swap.

mike i spent about 2 hours reading the entire thread yesterday on the tccoa forums yesterday and you have a very nice car!! However there is now way I am going to make this a 2 year+ project, nor do i have $40,000 to put in it.Top money I can put in mine is going to be 10k for everything and I allready doubled my budget since 3 days ago by convincing my wife I need more than just getty up and go stuff for it.I really dont like the idea of buying a allready supercharged mark because i dont know how its been driven, had no part of the build, and most likely couldnt afford it.Hell i dont even know at this point if i can even afford a supercharger set up,I might be leaning in a different direction.1.keep the 100k engine itself and just build top end stuff for it(heads up)then add a new chip and other add ons. 2. maybe buy a oem spec remanufactured 4.6 that is complete and almost turn key for $2500 and build off that untill i get to the 3500 to 4 grand range.

like i said before i am going to talk to reinhart today and my local speedshop and get more suggestions.I am really enjoyed doing all this research but man I am allready a indecisive person as it is,my wife hates taking me shopping with her I can never make up my mind. Looking forward to getting started on it all and adding my own skills to the mix with the body and paint. My car is completly rust free underneath and above.Should be just a bunch of R&I fix 2 really small dings and prep and paint.I think the color combination for the 2-tone is going to look really good.Im not a big fan of 2 tone jobs on a M8 but with the color combo I have chosen and the way I am going to lay it out is going to look really good.I am going to mix the original ivory pearl with the brighter white and break it with a hint of silver. cant wait

guy at my local speed shop on vacation this week and wont be back till monday.I was told he is awesome with modulars and I think I cant make any decisions till he gets back and I have a chance to talk with him.

seen this on ebay and its over 3k less than from ford and a couple other sites. my question is if i did something like this how much more to complete it?
