What is hypermiling?
Hypermiling is the act of driving using techniques that maximize fuel economy. Those who practice these techniques are referred to as "hypermilers."[1]
Hypermiling can be practiced in any vehicle regardless of its fuel economy. It gained popularity as a result of the rise in gasoline prices during the 2000s.[2] Some hypermiling techniques are illegal in some jurisdictions because they are dangerous.[3]
Hypermiling has come under fire from several quarters due to claims of dangerous or unlawful behavior by some hypermilers,[5] such as tailgating larger vehicles on freeways to save fuel. As a result, the Hypermiling Safety Foundation was formed in August 2008 to promote a safety and public awareness program, advocating legal fuel-saving techniques.
I've driven pretty normal the last year or two. Primarily because I want to get max mpg and to prolong my trannys life, it isn't getting any younger @ 143k.
Same here. Just trying to take care of my car and not be fixing this and that every time I turn around. I don't grandma the car. It does see a WOT rarely but I don't stay on it long either. Like (sbcaprice), saving that gas. If the power is needed, I know it's there.
I would suggest you wait until the light turns green.![]()
We're on the same page. I don't have the need to show everybody that it can move anymore. I might wot for a short distance maybe once every couple weeks. I won't lie though, the first couple years I had it I drove like an ass.![]()
