Front suspension pictures and questions

i think that guy just thought of some crazy sh!t to say in a random thread..none of that made ANY sence what so ever

I know what he's saying about making a bigger access hole, not sure on the metal tape part? Although, if I were to do that job again, I'd bust the flag off the bolt head and hold the nut as I turn the bolt. (I think that's Jamie's way)

You good sir are a fu*king retard..........:shifty:

And you...sir, are a fu€king moron. I love how people feel obliged to try and cut others down with stupid little remarks from the comfort of their computer.

Your parents ever tell you the rule about having nothing nice to say?

That is the way its been around here lately Mike.

I doubt if he knows who JDS353 is.

Your comment though.... You did WHAT?!?........priceless :)

First thing I did on my 64 falcon was to weld up those little holes someone cut into the shock towers.
Its a old trick that s been around forever.

I doubt it hurts anything.

replaced the uppers on the 95 to get to the driver side rear control nut i cut an access hole removed and replaced the nut. cut a 2x3 in hole then painted it and used metal tape to hold it in place. then replaced the plastic inner liner of the fender. much quicker then fighting the master cylinder and all the congestion above it. if you cut becareful how deep you go on the cut .

I found that a 3/8 inch drive Gear Rachet socket wrench with the hollow socket fits right into the space between the master cylinder and the bottom of the wheel well.

I'm not lying when I say it's a tight fit, and I'm really not lying when I say it takes a looooooooong time to tighten that inside bolt back on, but if you don't want to cut a hole in the tower, and you don't want to cut the flag off the nut, then that's the way to go.

Ooops, flags on the bolt, sorry. :)

So your saying that its fine to cut out part of the shock tower to get to a bolt when you can get to it just fine the right way??? Thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard and yes if i met him in person id tell him the same damn thing!! Hacking up a car just to make it "easyer" to replace a part is lazy and retarded, people like that need to be kicked in the balls and then have there cars and tools taken from them so they never do it again.

I read a thread where a guy 'hacked up' his car to make the oil filter easier to change.

Lot's of 'hacking up' of cars on this forum, some times it makes sense, sometimes it doesn't.

Always seems, at least to me, to be bad form to call someone a ':q:q:q:qing moron'.

Unless you're friends and busting balls. Or what they are doing is patently unsafe. Neither of which seems to be the case in this thread.

Don't even begin to put words in my mouth. Not once did I condone his method. What I am pointing out is that you sound INCREDIBLY immature in this post. There is no reason to call someone an idiot for going a different way on a repair.

You even backed up my feelings torwards your mentality with your last post. Saying that someone should be "kicked in the balls, and have their cars and tools taken away." kinda makes you sound a bit immature in my book.

Speaking of which kstills, I had to cut the exact same hole as jds353 to fit my clutch master cylinder. I must be a fuc/ ing idiot as well.

Oh noes!!!!

Theres a diffrence in cutting on a car to convert it to a 5 speed when it wasnt offered with that model and cutting on a car to do maintenance on it.

You good sir are a fu*king retard..........:shifty:
Let's see..... you have called me a f@ckin retard.
You called ripped camel a f@ckin retard.
Now its JDS353 you call a f@ckin retard.
It shows just how completely clueless you are.

All I can say about the moog srb is they are even worse when you try and use the fronts in the back :D

See.
You had every right to call me a f@ckin retard and never did.
:slap:

I've taken two of those driver side UCA's off, and I can completely understand the DESIRE to cut a hole in the car....:D

To me, just seems like a whole lot of extra work (plus, I would have to drill a hole and cut the metal with a hack saw blade, so for me, that method is right out ...) but if it works, it doesn't actually harm the car, and if it gets someone with more needs then means back on the road, then God bless ya.

+1 call Max get OEM

i did call max today...the parts guy at the ford dealership that we use thru the shop isn't very good. I was asking questions about the srbings cause i need to rebuild my front end. My ford guy said 130/side for the srb kit. After i called max, i was told i could just order the rubbers for something like 60 which makes more sense since moogs are 40 or so. I will buy oem when possible, but $90/side over moog for rubber bushings is a little excessive without justification.

fyi,

jds353 was racing and building cars while you were still a twinkle in your daddy's eye (judging by your maturity level anyway)

Thats nice to know, i still stand by my statement. Hacking on a car to do maintenance is pretty damn stupid no matter your age.

You have obviously never worked on a VERY rusty vehicle. Not saying dad's VIII is one of them, but sometimes a cutting torch or 4" grinder is your best friend.

Following your logic, it would be stupid of me to cut my K1500's control arm bolts out when trying to replace the bushings. Nevermind that it's a rust belt truck, and the underpinnings are close to rounded off by corrosion.

Yawn....

Cutting bolts and cutting the body are to very diffrent things.....from what i gathered he was talking about cutting out part of the strut tower to get to the nut easyer, not cutting off the nut or bolt.

I'm making a futile effort here but.....

Your comment stated that cutting for ANY kind of maintaince would be stupid. I just remembered something.... I had to split my frame rails apart on my 94 to get to some stripped out subframe nut holders. Call the shortbus, and dicks sporting goods, I need a ride to work and a hockey helmet from now on.

Lol....

Your not...."wrong", but you have a piss poor method of stating your arguments. Debate in high school wasn't your strong subject I'm guessin'. I wouldn't have made such a big deal about this except for you calling someone you don't even KNOW, a effin retard.

Not cool man.

Mike

Sounds like your're talking about the frame end of the strut rods, the LCA end strut rod bushings aren't nearly that expensive, and were the subject of the earlier discussion.
