Carbon Fiber

A Carbon Fiber Intake...you don't even need to make patterns just use a COBRA one and copy it ;)

One other thing,..... Thank you for putting the offer of handmade CF parts out there. For those that need, or want them.

i like the shifter knob idea, evap tray, and intake. The radio bezel and rear defroster would be cool too.

i want carbon fiber speedstars, and terry, i think all you need to make that gray and black pop, is a black steering wheel, steering wheel and airbag that would look sweet.

frog was that towards me? i just meant terry needs a plain black steering wheel and air bag, not carbon fiber

Evap tray would be a waste of materials, although it'd be nice if someone would come up with an alternative. I'm gonna vote for radio-shifter bezel for second gen. I don't care if it is real wood, that particular wood grain is so boring. I was even considering having it and the door wood panels redone in a different (better looking) grain using that water-tank-decal-dipping process.

id say all the wood trim inside a gen 2 along with a shifter would be awesome done in carbon fiber the real question is how much would it be, ballpark. i got a shifter handle i could send to ya now :)

lol yeah ill get ya something from the dollar menu ;) only thing is i dunno what cost of materials would be, we talking like 100? 200? more? i know that stuff can get pretty pricey you can pm a rough idea i wont hold you to it, just so i know if its worth our time ;)

Man, I love what you've got going on with that interior! Just a suggestion, though: I think you need just a little more grey splashed around. Like maybe the door handle bezels and switch panels on the door panels. Just to give it a little more uniformity. And I bet that black carpet is hard to keep clean. But I like it a lot! It makes the interior look more upscale than the simple "sea of grey" that most of the Gen1 Mark's have going on. Like mine:D. I tried to spruce mine up a little by painting the PW and PDL switch bezels body color. I think it looks pretty nice.

I tried that look of grey splash and in person, it just wasn't playing out to well. I was trying things on one door panel while looking at the other and the black one would win every time. :p

I have the entire steering wheel and column from the 93 setting up in the attic. I had that same thought and before the scrap guys got out of here with both black cars, one of them removed the whole column for me. I kept the whole column just in case the wheel alone didn't do the trick.

Has anybody mentioned Valve Covers yet? Yeah I know a bit hard and not interior but that would look sick :wrench

Valve covers shouldn't be a big (in the grand scheme of things) deal. Just a lot of cleanup detail work and you need high temp resin.

I bought a Gen 2 bezel at a local junk yard and layed it yesterday. I decided to go with a 4x4 weave instead of the more mundane 2x weave. The easy part is done, now comes the hard part... applying the finish. So far, I've got about an hour in it. Another 6 hours of applying resin every 30 minutes and then another hour or two finish sanding it and clear coating it. I can then give you guys a more honest price based on what I have into doing a trim bezel, should anyone be seriously interested.

Again, if I get a bunch of people who are seriously interested, I may even make a mold and be able to sell them a little cheaper. But honestly, I don't see the demand for it. Besides, with a molded bezel, you'll only save a few ounces over laying the part.

I'm a slightly concerned about the resin soaking through the cloth a little more than it should have, but it should be fine.

I may buy some more Gen 2 interior trim pieces and play with them as well. The people that are showing me all about Carbon Fiber are more than glad to guide me and let me work on my own projects, but in the end... If I end up selling some of these parts, I will give them the profits. After all, they are teaching me about the stuff, letting me use their tools and materials, etc.

Maybe once I have more experience with CF I will do some custom parts for you guys on my own, with my own materials, but until then, out of respect for these people, I can only work with what I'm afforded.

You've got me sold with that picture...

What if I send you parts? I assume that could make it cheaper for me?

Come on Frog, A gen 1 owner threw the idea out there first for the bezels and all you are gonna do is Gen 2's? :p I know you're just experimenting so I'll hold off until you have the technique down and working with your own materials but I do like the look so far.

98, let's wait and see how it comes out, first. If I don't like it, I'll do another one until it comes out as it should. Remember, it's my first one, but I'm a quick study. I would love to do some parts for any of you, but I'd like to make sure I can do them properly. I'd hate to send back a half-assed part.

If you really are interested, let me know what you'd like and I'll see if I can find the parts locally, then you can send me your pieces for the next person... unless you REALLY want the pieces that are currently on your car to be done. I say this because it will take a week or two before I could send the finished parts back to you. I don't know if your Gen 2 is a daily driver or not, and personally, I'd hate to drive my car with missing trim pieces. Besides, I payed less than 5 bucks for that trim piece. Well, 8 bucks if you take the "cover charge" into account.

As far as the price, I'll ask the people who are teaching me this stuff. Again, this money would go into their coffers as "payment" for educating me in this art. A capitalist I may be, but I'm not a thief, not so much... well, I stole a few midget's hearts in the past, but that don't count.

Limit, I'm not discriminating against Gen 1 cars. I'd love to do a Gen 1 as well, but I don't have a trim bezel and I don't want someone sending me one, in case I screw the part up. I'll look for a Gen 1 bezel around junk yards here as well.
