Carbon Fiber

so frogman, what have you wrapped in CF lately, please don't show us your cat wrapped in cf, although it would be funny, actually show us your cat in cf AKA Carbon KITTY

Don't... give... me... any... ideas...

As far as what Ive been working on as of late... well, that I can't really say. But it is parts for very expensive cars.

And then, for "my projects" on top of the projects I have to do there, I laid these parts up today.

Can anyone guess what they are?

I used 6K standard weave fiber on these parts, the 4x4 I used on that GEN 2 radio trim was a little too thick for my taste. And I hope to God I can figure out how to put the ashtray and cup holder lids back into their assembly...

And me beat the search nazi i have yet to do that yet hes lives a few miles away from me on post. Only person I have yet to see that remembers everything he reads about, and thats all he does is read about cars after work.

I know you're not talking about the LvC Nazi. He don't read about cars after work.

No, its a friend of mine down here in El Paso.

What kind of pricing would you suspect it would be for a gen 1 smoothed intake tube? If you were to make one.

Id be down for a CF intake
That was the one thing that came to mind when I read the thread title.I am not a big fan of carbon fiber but a carbon fiber intake would be sweet.I am not sure but I think it is also availble in different colors also besides black. That and with the CobraStar on it,oh yeah.

on a gen 2, evap tray if price is right. but for interior, steering wheel (not a complete one, but one similar to the collector editions) the wood trim pieces on the door and the dash radio, shifter hvac, control bezel. and as one suggested one for the driver and passenger seat control panels. with the gen two there is also a piece of wood trim on each side of the rear seat arm rest, that should be done also. if possible a shift knob and last but no least one for the window and door lock area. also can u do gray/silver carbon fiber for those of us with gray interior?

I'll have to ask. Something like that would need to be molded. It would be pretty spendy for a one off piece. If we can get something around 10 confirmed and paid for purchases, then obviously, it would be cheaper. I'll get you both prices.

CF comes in all sorts of colors. I can even do pink. As far as putting a cobrastar in it... Technically, it's doable. But the resin would have to be very thick to cover that up and still look smooth.

See above.

This is what happens when people give me ideas.

I found a cat that I was going to Cf, but the damned thing wouldn't sit still to measure it for a good fit.

Once I told the cat her new name would be "Carbon Kitty", she flipped me off and went back to sleep.

Adding the extra resin for the CobraStar would add more time and cost but like you said above if you could get enough confirmed orders it could be worth it.

It's not the extra time the thicker resin (more coats) would entail so much as how thick the whole part would be with the extra resin coats would end up being.

It would of course, depend on what material the CobraStar is made of. If it's the thick metal kind like Geno sells, then... It would end up pretty thick. If it's some sort of a vinyl sticker, it would obviously be thinner.
