Laser, you don't know misery lol!

Last night at 11:23 pm, my entire car blew up in the garage with me inside it. My left leg was burned, my eye lashes were burned, my eye brows were burned, my right leg was cut real bad because I dove out into the driveway into glass that was blown all the way to the street.

As for the car lol, it's gone. It has 3 good rims and the entire front end was blown away. The hood was shredded. The interior is 1/2 way ok but I haven't even got a good look at the inside. All I know is that there ain't no fixing this.

I'll get pics of it tomorrow. Oh yeah, the whole garage was burned too and pretty much everything in it. Liability insurance is all I had so now I'm Markless.

It's seriously BLACK ON BLACK ON BLACK ON BLACK!

I'll show it tomorrow. Not really in the mood right this minute but I thought I would let everyone know that she's gone.

HOW THE F@CK DID THAT HAPPEN!??!?

OMG man I am so sorry, so so sorry. That really breaks my heart after all you just did to it. I am so sorry to hear this.
I was so excited cause I just got home with my new Mark and then I see this.
Look IDK if this would help you but with a new hood and passenger side headlight my 97 can be driven just fine but still needs fender/header pannel/grill/ rad beauty pannel and shes good as new. PM me and I will give you an extra special price if you want it.

When I show this car, you're gonna ask how in the hell I made it out alive. I don't even know how I made it out alive. All I saw was solid orange from the fire that blew into the car from under the dash. It just exploded through there somehow and then I dove out as quick as I could and my left leg was on fire and I heard another explosion and then dove out into the driveway and put my leg out.

I ran back in to grab the fire extinguisher and tried to put out what I could but it ran out and I was inhaling that :q:q:q:q at the same time. I couldn't stop it from burning anymore so I called the fire dept. and they of course soaked it down real good. I'm just glad my 7 year old son didn't come out or even get near the door that leads into the kitchen from the garage because it blew the door facing off inside that door. That's how much pressure was involved and all the windows in the garage were blown out. The upper attic above the car was just about blown off.

I never want to be in that situation again. I do want another Mark but I think I'm going to Gen 2 this time. Right now, I don't even want a car. That put a fear in me that I'll never forget. Maybe my transmission is still good lol. This really sucks, that's all I know. I put so much into that car and watched it burn within a few minutes.

Laser, I appreciate it very much and I might just buy it but it will be after Feb before I do. If you can't hang onto it that long, don't worry with it.

I have a new set of tires and maybe the one Octi I have that took the most burn will clean up. I'm not sure. The other three are still good and tires too. I just want my transmission out of there because that damn thing was the s h i t. All this over a stalling issue. I don't get it.

speed control??

I heard lots of stories about the speed control doing that same thing that happened to your car,I had it happen to both my 93's and it happened one after another and one of my 93's almost started on fire too I had to pull the battery cable real fast or my car would have gone up in flames too,so I took it to the dealer for this recall and they put a whole new wire harness in cause it all got burnt up,also theres the headlight switch recall,I checked the vin on my new 94 and its says no recall so I guess it was done already but lots of marks are not done, maybe thats not what happened to your car cause I'm sure you guys all know about this recall,I read some articals about some people have died in ther mark VIII's cause of this recall,,just thought I would mention it anyway cause of my bad experience anyway incase some one don't know about this problem like myself,,sorry to hear about your baby,,RIP I'm sure you guys known about this but here you go anyway, cause I didnot know>read next page

Last summer I had taken it to the Lincoln dealer and had the cruise deactivated and never wanted it activated again but gas leaking onto the intake was ignited somehow. The only thing I can think of is that the 4 injectors that I put in must not have been seated on the top as good as they should have been, idk. I triple checked the fuel rail and it was bolted down good and tight. I'm really not sure what happened because it was just a sudden explosion and the only thing I could see was me burning alive so I got out and hit the floor and one leg caught on fire and then I jumped out of the garage and got the left leg put out. It all happened so fast, I really don't remember much.

EDIT: I said last summer but it was deactivated as quickly as I got my notice. It seems like last summer but I think it was in 07 when I took it down for that.

OMG you have to be kidding me wow, I am glad your ok that soooo sucks How do you tell if all your recalls have been done I need to check mine I would die if something like that happened in mine

Damn, Terry!! The main thing is you are ok. Man, I am very sorry to hear about your car. You have put so much into it to get it the way you wanted.

Thankfully your ok, thats the important thing. I'm sorry for your loss of a loved car and a garage. You are very lucky thats all you lost. be grateful for that. I have had my injectors leak after removing them for some other work in the past. What I found to be the problem was the o ring on top of the injector was torn. I guess it was dry when I tried to reinstall the rail. Ever since then I use alittle PB or WD on all the o rings. Just a thought.
Good luck with a new one. Gen 2 all the way!!

man, I'm glad that you and your family are all OK. Really sucks but everything else is replaceable.

wow that sucks after the mission you had with your tranny....im just glad that everyones ok. The car can be replaced but people cannot.

NAWSSSS!! sorry, couldnt resist. I have always admired your car, thought it looked like a black version of my car, with the octis and HIDS... I guess everything happens for a reason, I'm sure you will find a better car.

I'm sure when I took it to the Lincoln dealer to have the cruise deactivated, they checked in the system. I still haven't seen my car with light on it yet. What I saw in the dark was unreal. Not worth dying for but it is upsetting. Very upsetting.

That's what I keep thinking Duck. I have major hours into that car, here and there just doing little odd things to make it into something different and then have it explode on me. I'm not going to let it hold me down though. Yes, I feel the shock and pain this morning a lot more but it can be replaced. Maybe, just maybe the man we rent the house from might be able to get some money back on the car since it was an accident. If not, that's ok.

lol, my thought is to leave injectors the F alone. I'll never mess with another injector again for any reason. As for the garage, I was lucky with that because it's attached to the house and the fire dept. made it here before the fire spread through the rest of the house. There was a substantial loss in the garage, some good and some bad. I want to go look right now but I just can't do it yet. Reality is gonna be hell when I see it because that car was like a part of me. I'm still not sure on the Gen 2 just yet because I really favor the Gen 1 looks and always have but gen 2's are easier to work on. They both have their bad's and goods I suppose.

man, I'm glad that you and your family are all OK. Really sucks but everything else is replaceable.

That really is the main thing. Mainly my son. He could have been out there with me or anything. If he had been anywhere around that when it happened, it could have killed him. I think the car itself saved me from the explosive part of it.

I have a cop outside looking at it now so I guess I'm going to go ahead and go out and see just how bad it is. I'll take some pics but it has been snowing (first time in years btw) and my leg is killing me. Don't know how long I'll be able to stand out in the cold.

That's one of the craziest things I've heard happen on here!!! WTF???

Glad you are OK though!

That happened to me in my first car. (Ford Escort - except I was driving when the flames came through!)

So, you reckon it was a fuel leak from injector swapping?

Holy crap, someone probably shot an AT4 at your garage.

Seriously though, at least you are alright. Once you step foot in another Mark make sure to show us pics!

I assure you, if that transmission can be salvaged, it will be. I had that thing right too. Maybe it can go into the next one and again, at least I'm able to be around to get another one. I seriously thought that last night was my night to go when it blew.

WOW, I just got word that my car and the fire was on the news this morning. It hasn't been uploaded to the news channel yet but when it is, I'll post it here.

Yes, I know it was because it was running fine before but after the 4 injector swap, it had a rough idle but didn't want to start the first few times. I just thought the fuel rail needed to build pressure. I didn't know that while I had the car running that gas was being pumped all over the intake and down the back of the motor and onto the transmission. It finally caught the right spark and there it went. I guess I don't have to worry about pinpointing the stalling issue anymore lol. It's on a permanent stall now.

That is terrible. I am sorry to read about this. All the work you put in that car. All of your audio. Wow. Could it be that fuel injectors didn't seat properly?

I had to check my calender to make sure its not April fools day.
That is just frickin crazy!

Glad you ok and your son.
Sorry about your car. :(
