I remember the hood buy and making, just like it was yesterday. I think I was CL'n for you while you traveled to get the hood. I found about 3 of them and you finally chose one. The blue one! ;)

Yes, you have to keep the woman of the house happy. Get that kitchen done and she should be good to go. I love the size of the shop you have. It has so much potential and yes, insulating it would be very very nice. When my little double car garage was being rebuilt, I went to Lowe's and bought enough insulation for all walls and I can heat it with the little propane sunflower heater within 15 to 30 min, depending on the outside temp at the time. Once it's warm though, it remains warm because of the insulation I put in. The carpet I have out there helps out too. I only put it in there because it was free and pretty much already cut to fit. When I walk out into the garage from the house, it still give you the feeling that you're still inside the "house" and not a garage.

Your garage / barn / shop, w/e you call it is going to be top notch when it's complete. I'd take it as is and be happy. A lift back in the left corner and maybe a chain engine lift over on the right hand side or section a small place off over there for a paint booth. It just has so much room in there for so much stuff. BTW, the "Snap On" toolbox loos like it has seen it's better days lol. I wouldn't get rid of it though. I'd put all the odd and end tools inside that one and roll it into a different location in there for friends and or family use. One of those tool boxes that if something comes up missing, then "oh well". Nothing like having your own toolbox that only YOU, uses.

Keep us updated on the progress with insulating and the lift. I'm not sure if you have a place in your area but about 45 min from me, there is a company that makes the wall sheets that goes inside mobile homes. They take the sheets that have flaws and sell them for around $5.00 a sheet. You could probably do that whole place for a decent price and it would help out the insulation, along with the inside looks. Maybe later down the road but it's something to look into. There are factory's out there that sell defective sheets, 1/4" thick for good prices. I bought a mobile home to rent out back in 2004 and it needed new walls. I think I done it all for under $300and the wall was called "sandstone". Looked real nice. I had pics but someone stole the digital camera I had back then and the card was still inside.

Those other boxes are my dads and brothers. I bought the box from my dad but he hasn't got his new one yet. He is trying to get rid of multiple boxes in his shop. His shop is what I'd eventually like mine to look like on the inside... Nice and bright. The old red snapon box got taken out by the Lincoln when my brother pulled it in with absolutely no brakes. Needless to say dad was mad cause not only did he get the box but he bowed the wall out too... My dad has his own business as a mechanic, which is why he can justify spending the money on his tools. Snapon bought one of his old boxes for more than he paid for it and they had a bunch of incentives to buy a new box so he said screw it and got the box he wanted...

Yeah, I could tell it had been hit by a car or something with some weight behind it. I just have one rolling Craftsman and then two that can be stacked on top. The roller one is hiding behind my car in the pic and the other two have been outside since the garage was rebuilt. They are covered in plastic and I have no clue why I haven't brought them in yet. After seeing these SS boxes, I might get rid of what I have and get me one of those. I don't need nothing huge but I do have a lot of air tools that need to be kept put up. I don't know what all kinda tools I have to be honest. I just know they need a good cleaning because nothing has been done with them since the fire lol. I like the new box you have too. I'm really leaning towards a new black toolbox because I'm thinking with greasy hands, that would eventually build up under the handles on a SS box. Hell, I might paint what I have now in black and not spend a dime. :D

I think for the money, Kobalt makes a nice box. Wish I had gotten one of them instead of my Matco box.

Yeah, I have been looking at those too. Thing is, it's not something I would be using daily, not even weekly. That's why I might just paint what I have in black because nothing is wrong with any of them. I can paint them just like I painted the top of the 94. Dupli Color acrylic enamel, gloss black and acrylic enamel clear coat. As mush as I'll be touching them, they'll never be scratched.

a rolled up piece of carpet...that may be used at some point....
I have sooo much stuff from when I remodeled houses (tools, doors, windows, counters, sinks, etc) laying around my garage..and now I have car seats, 5 rims/tires, and a tranny!....

It don't take much for a garage to end up cluttered. Mine is slowly getting there but I'm waiting for it to warm up and then I'm doing a major clean up out there.

Mine is currently in a million pieces.

I had to pull it all apart to make room for my new wood burning stove.

Hoping to have it all back together soon.

Good Lord Mike, you're gonna be sweating with that thing in there. Are you venting it out the roof or through the wall and then upwards? I thought you already had a hanging heater that was on the ceiling with the fan built in. It looked like a gas heater but I could be wrong.

I've got 2-240V heaters in each corner of the shop.

On an average winter month they have the capacity to raise my utility bill an additional 250-300 dollars.

I bought this wood stove for $100 and I get cut firewood delivered to my house for free.

It's a no brainer.

obviously I have'nt gotten the thing hooked up, (I've got to build a small masonry wall for the flue to go through the window area. But that's where it will be setting.)

I want an old wood heater so bad.. all the ones I've found down here are garbaged or they want antique prices

That yours terry? Ship that sucka...lol.
I'll schedule something...

Man if you ain't holdin it, it won't be there by the time I make it that way... and I'm sure not paying shipping on a huge box made of steel

Shipping on that thing would be crazy. I have a truck and could go get it but it would be stuck on the truck when I got back home with it. :D I got rid of the engine hoist I had. I could have taken it off with that. I don't even know how I would get it on the truck when I got there. No telling what that thing weighs.

I had a double barrel in my old shop, loved it.
You could nap on that cement floor when it was rolling.
Didn't matter how cold outside.

Undecided on heat source on the new place.

I had a double barrel in my old garage as well, i bought my dad the same kit for his garage as well. Can't beat it for the price. Load it up in the morning, set the vent and it runs almost all day.

These aren't the best pics, but...

I have an attached three car garage at home, with heat and AC. :) Off to the right (in front of the empty bay in the picture) is a steel worktable, vise, air compressor, stereo, and riding mower. This pic is a couple of years old.

I'd have to dig through my computer to find decent pictures of the shop, but this is a recent shot of part of the main room. It usually isn't this messy.

I was just getting started on the latest project, a barn-fresh '65 C10 that by grandfather bought new. That picture is from the top of the staircase going into the second floor. The whole shop is 40'x60' with a second floor over 1/3 of it. The room off to the left and the room below and behind the camera aren't shown here. We only have heat in the shop. :(
