Why are our cars so squirrely?

and jamie. i cant wait that is about the 3rd time i have heard you talk about 1-2 shifts. did you leave the lower spring out when you did your jmod i am trying to make that decision right now. and i am thinking 3.73's u running 4.10s?[/QUOTE]

i dont have a j-mod done, i am running a trac-loc and 3:73's and the accumulator springs are both in. the trans was played with through the sniper tuner, i am going to do a j-mod though soon when i flush the trans and install the tranny cooler. i can only imagine what 2nd will be like after that, i will probably end up wrecking the car lmfao

I hear that! Another stay at home DAD. Good to know I am not alone. well gotta take the kids to the park in the Mark LOL.

Here, here for stay at home dads.. :Beer Are you close to Tampa? What track did you run at? I saw your sig said you took it to the track...

did you notice what it was doing today on your way to work

Suspension was swapped to strutmasters by the previous owner.

When I switch lanes the whole car does this float thing to the side I'm turning. When I'm driving strait and let go of the steering wheel the car will be driving straight and then just feel like it's about to buckle to one side, then it will do it to the other side.

Have you ever had a really low tire and if you quickly jerked your steering wheel from side to side you can feel the car would "float" all over the place? It feels like that but it's not my tires. They are brand new and the pressure is spot on.

What's f'd up is the car is doing so many damn things it's hard to pinpoint one.

Tires cured a lot, but left other issues.

The chamelion wags it's ass at 70-75. It's subtle but it's there. And it feels like the car has a tail that is wagging. I am leaning towards the cheap ass hercules tires. And no I don't have a broken belt in a tire. Thanks in advance and sorry fo the thread jackin'.

Sounds like bad caster.
Does it track bad over cracks & grooves?

If you're free Saturday I'll come up there then. I'm not floating in cash because I'm in school and when I'm not in school I'm a stay at home dad...my wife brings home the bacon until I finish my degree.

I already have a coil over suspension but maybe it's faulty? It's a strutmasters kit.

Let me know what time you'll be up there on Saturday and I'll take a ride up there.
Smartest move you can make.
After Jamie gives it the once over he will tell you whats fubar, then you can budget to get it fixed.
These car handle great when maintained.

That I plan on doing ;)

I was always told that was how you can tell if an alignment is off am I wrong?

Regardless if that ideal is right or wrong the shop I had do my tires re-balanced them for me at my request (I used the excuse I wanted the weights on the inside of the rims) Just to make sure balancing wasn't the issue, and they checked a second time for alignment issues and said everything is straight. At $70 if I needed an alignment they would have been all up on me to get one done :)

feeble minds think alike...lol

What can I say... in the words of Socrates "True wisdom is knowing you know nothing!" :p

All it means is the car goes straight when you let go of the wheel.
Is it a good thing....yes.
Does it mean its properly aligned.....no.

A car can track straight and still be way way way off.

I have seen some wild chit going down the road, its not good when your behind a car and you can see it going sideways.

I am always amazed at how many GM trucks I see driving sideways. Also you could have a crap load of negative camber and track straight but kill the tires in a couple thousand miles. Or maybe too much toe in in the rear and wonder why your rear tires didnt last at all. All kinds of crap. Thing to make sure though is that on the front end they match camber and caster on each side. A little varience in these cars makes them track like poop.
