Why 8 people are better than ls people

Dammit, you're in TX. I've never raced a Mark viii before.

Interesting to see the outcome. Especially after my stall. :D

Aw man it would be a blast! I never ran against a modded LS before (that I know of) and it would be interesting to see what happens. You will have a stall and I will have gears, Trak Loc and wide tires. We both have a tune and my exhaust will be going in next month. Loser buys beer! :D :wrench

Try your luck with an XLR Caddy lol. I got spanked so bad I went home.

Oh yeah, I didn't get out of the car that day because I was pissed I drove to E-Town, paid the 50 bucks or whatever the f*ck it was and they ran the 1/8th. And that was with me checking their site AND calling them before I left to make sure they were open since it was sh*tty out the day before. Not one mention of 1/8th only. You'd think with the money those clowns charge they'd at least divulge that info. Nevermind that God damn wind that day. E-Town aggravates me since the last few years it's become more about the money with them. I'd rather drive 12 hours down to Atlanta Dragway and race, but that's only a once a year event.

Yeah that was weak. A couple guys just parked their cars and just hung out because of that bs.

When I was bone stock I ran an LS V8, not sure what year, and he pulled a half car length on me off the line and stretched it to one car untill we both let off at 80. Since my tune I ran one at the 1/8th in Seven Points and beat him by .610 and since then I ran another V8 on 31 and pulled two lengths really fast but I am pretty sure he had issues. I heard his car downshift and stutter for a split second and then it started to take off.
Many times I have pissed off 5.7 Chargers, 300c and as of last week a RT Challenger. :D Ran many 4.6 Stang GTs and come out on top 70% of the time. On the other hand I have had a couple Neon SRT4s, WRX, Camaros and a G35 & 37 coupe whoop my ass bad and send me home with my tail between my legs.

Then there are the hard numbers.
LS8 0-60 7.1-7.5 (too many different ones so I listed fastest and slowest)
LS8 1/4 mile 15.4-16.1

VIII 0-60 6.9-7.2
VIII 1/4 15.2-15.6

So it seems stock the VIII is faster and hard to say who has the better tune but since the Mark has more power and is within 50 lbs all else being equal it should be faster. With both cars having gears and a trac loc that may change some as the LS has better weight distribution but the Mark can hold more tire so it can launch harder off the line. I have 275s in the rear, what can the LS hold?

Ah, interwebz racing at its finest. Dont take me seriously. :p

It's all in good fun just messing around.

Gen2(03-06) LS8s should run high 14s stock. I have no idea what a Gen1 LS8 should run. I think the real difference between the Mark and the LS is the slightly better rear gearing and the 5spd trans. Like you said power and weight are close.

But who really cares as long as we're having fun

I've installed a tlock from an 05 Mustang GT, but the unique 8.0" housing of the LS can only hold stock gears. So I'm stuck with 3.31's. The only other gears available for the LS are the gen 2 3.58's. Unless I want to use an 8.8" pumpkin, which then necessitates custom support brackets for the pumpkin, and a custom driveshaft. If one were to go that option, it would be in the 1K range. But I would REALLY like to have a set of 4.10's (or better yet, 4.56's) back there.

I'll have a TCI Streetfighter installed by winter's end.

then the exhaust, and XCal2 tuned by KBX.

I need some lighter wheels, and fatter rubber on the rears before spring for the track too.

So whos up for the races. Any real takers. My cars gettin taken apart in a few weeks so this maybe the last chance.

Not this season. I am still waiting for my stall. Dude has to take it out of his car first.

I thought Jason modified an 8.8 to fit into his ls, you should look into that.

I have nothing against the Marks or their owners, used to have one but moved on.

At Danny, what is the point of this thread when you are making vague and stupid statements such as "8 people are better than LS people" and you go ahead reply to slowmark that it's true that mark viii guys do the same thing.

Think before you talk.
