what is the difference between a base and a lsc? or is it the same thing? and what does it stand for?

Only diff is a bit more hp on the lsc cause of it having dual exhuast and the base doesn't. Base has a bit more crome : front gril around headlight and taillight. And lsc's are color matched. Not sure of hid and stereo but that bout it

lsc has dual exhaust, monochromatic body trim and mouldings, perforated leather seating, and 3:27 gears, base model has 3:08's
lsc's also had hid headlights in late 95, all 96 lsc's and 97-98 hids were standard on all mark VIII's

Gears\Exhaust\127mph limiter\preforated leather\color matched trim\floor mats

Thats about it.

mine doesnt have the burl wood or chrome tips and it has the chrome strips

You don't have a true LSC but your title or registration might mention that it is an LSC because it is a Luxury Sport Coupe but not a true LSC. On the trunk lid, right hand side, there will be an emblem there that says LSC.

Some people have documentation reading that their car is an LSC when really, it's not the true LSC.

Was going to say rear light but fingers said other wise

This site (http://www.markviii.org/info/g2lscguide.html) says that the shocks were also re-valved to stiffen the ride, at least on the GEN2's. I don't know how accurate this is, but I know that my wife's '97 LSC rides firmer and handles much better than my '96 base. Given the obvious differences in ride and handling between the two, I'd have to say that the LSC has stiffer shocks.

Apparently they did it on the GEN1's as well (http://www.markviii.org/info/g1lscguide.html). Again, not sure of the accruacy of the report. I have brochures at home for the GEN1 and GEN2 Marks. I'll have to dig them out and check. But I'm pretty sure that I read in the brochure that the LSC has stiffer shocks. Again, I'm not entirely sure.

Yep. At 126/127 that limiter kicks in. I've done it several times. Feels like the engine just dies. Then when it dips just below 126 it starts back up. It's a wierd feeling.

maybe if i could drive above 85 i would find out.. fu ck this stupid driveshaft.... the vibrations just make me feel asthough it would be unsafe to go higher. o' well

The base limiter is 140 MPH

This could be the case but I do know in my 94, (before LSC's were born) that a cop friend of mine used his gun and clocked me on a 4 lane open stretch at 146 mph. Either his gun needed to be calibrated or I was really going that fast. He said he was only going to do that once and let me get by with it but he knew I was coming and no other cars were out at this time.

On the 95 that I bought from Jamie, I know it will hit 135 now that I have changed tires and had them balanced with inner stick on weights. That's the fastest I have been since 2005 when I stretched the 94 out. 85 to 90 is my max speed and I rarely ever do that. HWY driving at 75 to 80 is fairly normal for me but that 146 was shown to me on the gun and at that time, the gun was only about a month old. He said it was pretty much dead on.

I dont know enough about the year to year stuff on the first gens to say when it started but I know on second gens that the base limiter is 140 and the LSC is 127. The reason is because of drive shaft vibration and since the base had 3.08s it could go faster before the shaft started to vibrate.
I dont know if gen 1's had any of that as there are allot less electrical add ons compared to gen 2's

I can assure you that the 94 wasn't smooth sailing at 140 + but at 100 it had slight vibration and then 120 to 130, hardly any vibration and then it came back at 140. The 95 is very smooth all the way up to 95 and then it vibrates until I hit 110 - 115 and at 120, it smoothed out and floated to 135 and then I smelled cats :D

95 is fast enough for me. I'm too lucky to get "reasonable / prudent" tickets lol. I don't need to be going any faster than that on the HWY unless I'm passing someone and I'm pissed off.

Yeah mine is similar. Gets some vibration around 120 and is annoying untill 130 but by 140 its gone. :)

I remember XLRVIII saying that the early 93 PCM (w3z2) has no speed limiter.

One time, I went pretty fast in mine (upwards of 140, according to the GPS) and my car stumbled a bit, so I let off - thought I'd hit a speed limiter, but I reckon my pump was weak and I was starting to run out of fuel. Acura TL: 1 Me: 0

I have a W3Z2 car, and it has a "(drive)shaft speed limiter" set at 5320rpm. I haven't poked around enough to verify the existence of a true MPH based speed limiter.

My old 94, and my friend's 96 all tap out at 130, my friends 97 LSC is done at about 124. My 93 stops at about 97 or so with the 4.10s making that driveshaft spin too fast..
