So I am curious as to what you fellow Mark drivers would get for a daily driver if your Mark turned into something that you no longer wanted to submit to daily duty. I love my Mark and will still use it on noce days but not every day. I kinda ruined it for daily usage.

People will ask why and here are the biggies. Wheels are staggered so no tire rotations. Wheels are rare and bend kinda easy, already need to spend $450 to fix three of them. Blower requires a rebuild every 20k miles and that would be twice a year for me. Oil gets hotter so will be changed more often. The car begs to be driven hard and I drive it hard, I alread wore out me newish rear shocks and eat other components from pushing 2 tons through 35 mph corners doing 70 mph. :D I will prolly have to run meth injection and I will runn FULL meth so thats expensive as it will drain the 5 gallon tank every other fill up. AND the car only gets 15mpg now.

Havent decided on budget yet but it will be $2000 or $5000 or $10,000.
Needs to be hinting at sporty but comfertable for a fat ass like me. Has to get over 22mpg and closer to 30 would be prefered. Dont care if its stick or not but it has to be well equiped and not some crapola car. I am not opposed to FWD but cant think of one I would want.

So what would you guys choose?

My first thoughts are $10,000
04 GTO

$5,000
Lincoln LS, Thunderbird SC or 4.6

$2000
Mark VIII, first gen or a base second so I can have 3.08's

1st Gen for $2000 and if any additions need to be done, don't go all out and put the best into it. Just use good oil, plugs and ceramic pads, get the headlight housings done or buy new ones and then put some HID's in and be done with it. I bought the 95 from Jamie for $2000 and since I have owned it, I have bought new headlight housings, along with an HID kit and a new grille, new SS shock mounts with Monroe Sensatracs. Now I have $2700 invested. I put Mobile 1 FS in and swapped the interior over to black and now I'm done.

I still have everything I need to completely swap out the system but it's too fuggin hot. So when I'm done all the way, I might have $3200 invested but I'm not going any further. Oh yeah, I did buy another Octastar to go with the other three I have and will be doing that swap soon. Other than that, I'm done with that car. 127K on the clock and as long as I take care of it and not dog it out, it should last me for a long time.

Just my 2 cent input. I wouldn't spend big on a DD. Use that money for what you really want to build on. At the same time, drive what you're kinda used to.

i know you said negative, but you also asked what we have, and i was sorta looking for a DD with greatr gas mileage, and bill this thing has been nothing but flawless for me, i have never had a problem with this car in 30 thousand miles, just my input, but i can't wait to get into my licoln again, it will feel like a :q:q:q:qing rocket ship

Didnt ask what ya had. Asked what ya would get. I also said some other stuff that would elimanate the Hyundai. :D

What happend to the Dr.'s turbo t-bird??
Well I was still willing to do the deal but hes worried the rear may be making noise and really he wants its motor for something else. IDK, maybe he will try replacing the u-joints and charge the AC then realize the car is OK and call me up and make the trade. :)

Ahh I was starting to wonder if i chopped up my 68 for no reason.

AHHHHH forgot about the whole last part of your whole thread, i would say my bad, but i know a lot of d-bages that say that so i will just start with m bad and say

1. no GTO pontiac is now an obsolete brand
2.LS not a bad choice but i am very afraid you would spend less time in the 8 forum and more time in the ls ( which is not needed)
3. TC would not be bad as long as you stiull spend most of your time in the 8 forums.
4. yes a base gen 8 would be great.....

Why don't you pick up a decent Fox for a daily? Deadly easy to work on and parts are cheap. Another good choice would be a late model Crown Vic.

I had a fox once, rn away tho and wasn't fun to ride on, it was to small, also didn't like the amount of fur it left on my couch

As much as I like a Fox I dont want one for a DD.

Bill, whatever happened to the Gen 1 black on black you ran across a while back? The one that was all dusty and setting low and never was moved for a long time. Is it still around?

Still around. Guy still wants WAY too much for it.

There are a couple nice 93 and 94 Marks close by for under $1500 but I keep thinking a 4 door would be nice.

How about a Conti? :D

93 or 94 for under $1500 and you adding another $1500 would make a nice car, for the daily drive. Get cheap liability insurance on it and run over rubber chunks and watch out for young girls up ahead that want to stop all of a sudden and all that other stuff that might happen.

Just saying another mk would mean maintance. Now a 2002 tarus with a conti 4.6 motor yes but more money. Maybe a pick up truck to haul the car if youy wanna track it maybe. But I would get a honda not a lot of maintance and good gas. You can't get a GTO - gotta cam that baby ___ gotta luv the ls motors.

I would buy a sixth pickup truck. I already have two for spare parts, one I only use to haul nasty or bulky things, one that I drive daily, and one as a toy- too freaking loud to drive daily. I have the Mark for????? I don`t know anymore, still try and drive it once every two weeks, if my tired old ass feels like sliding down into it.

i know they are out of your budget, let alone not on your list, but diesel trucks are the way to go. a buddy of mine has a duramax making 700 hp and i think he gets close to 20-24 mpg. i would love to get a cummins and do it up right.

I still vote another Mark, get a Gen2 , let me practice some body mods

I like that idea too. I kinda like the ugly V-8 versions but a first or second gen would be cool. There are several niceish ones for $2500 or less.

I think a GTP would be a good alternative to an SHO, if you're gonna go wrong wheel drive. My wife has one. It's pretty fun.
