This is a bit premature but I am curios about some things and need some advice and input.
Marked8 loves helping me blow money and sent me some info on a new and freshish built Teksid. I will contact the builder on Monday to get the exact specs but all I know is its built for boost and to handle 1000 hp. Has $1500 in custom cams, LDC cooling mod and forged internals. I will have to get the internals parts list and specs to deem if what he wants is even reasonable. Hes asking $5000 and has $9000 into it and supposedly only used the best parts. We all heard that before. My understanding is the engine hasnt been installed or run since it was built.

I would sell the plenum and longtubes and have a trans to sell too it looks like. Can anyone tell me what the trans is attached to it? I cant see enough nor have enough trans experience to tell from just seeing the bell housing.

So what do you guys think? Couldnt I find another JY Teksid and get a Cobra crank, 03/04 pistons and some forged pistons installed for much less?

Like I said, call them and talk to them. I know I left a lot out. They had two GT500's they were working on, the sound of the first one leaving the shop about made me wet my pants :D

trans is probably a t-56 or similar, it looks like a standard shift trans, looks like a stock motor with longtubes to me lol, thats a dirty stock looking 9 grand sitting there!

just be careful with that purchase...you will still gotta go into it to see if the internals are what he claims it to be...I'd rather buy Cobra crank, flywheel, and pistons and have them installed

I told him that the shop is reputable, but buyer beware.

Laser Build your own, period. First you will know what you have, second it will be less expensive. I have less the 3G into my wife's motor and I would have no issue with flogging it with a 250HP powershot or 18 to 24LBS boost.

Pass on that setup. There is always a reason for a good deal.

Slap the KB on there already. Enjoy it for the summer.
Build a C headed motor in the meantime for easy $5k, sell your KB, get an intercooler setup and step up to the big game ;)

looks exactly like a t56 but like jamie said it could be smaller. if i had to guess thow i would say its a t56.

Dude..why are you even thinking about another motor right now...buy a salvage motor and the crank, rods ect ect and have exactly what you want built for probably half that

I'd have to agree with everyone else and just build your own. You will know everything about the motor you build, and not have to take someone's word for it.

I have a very trusted friend in Cali, that is also off-loading a built engine:

98 Ford 4.6 Aluminum 4.6L DOHC 32V Cobra engine. Built and never run with $12.5K in receipts.

Built by Terry Tinney Performance Motors in Livermore, CA

*Aluminum block (.020 over) and heads
*284cid
*8.9:1 CR (9.85:1 Stock)
*CP coated pistons (Winston Cup spec), Plasma coated moly rings
*Manley billet rods w/ARP bolts
*Custom camshafts 292 duration/.470" lift
*Ported heads w/S.S. valves 1.456" Intake (stock) 1.250" Exhaust (larger). Both .100" longer, single groove, bronze manganese guides.
*Dual valve springs, Titanium retainers, Chrome moly seats, Viton seals
*Hamilton Clark Intake
*Setup for drysump (pump not included) can be converted back to wetsump
*Safe to 20+psi (800HP+)
*Made 400RWHP in 98 Cobra w/7psi BEFORE rebuild

**TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH NOT INCLUDED**

The engine was originally built for a 98 Griggs Cobra that was going to race in SCCA World Challenge. I got the engine second hand as the original owner passed away before the car was completed. The engine was designed to run forced induction. According to the builder the engine can sustain 20+psi and over 7000 RPM. Obviously you wouldn't run that much as a road race power-plant. The engine was built in 2002 and has never been fired. The builder does remember the build, he ported the heads and I can take some pictures of the exhaust ports if you wish. I am willing to remove the intake for pictures if necessary.

Again I have over $12K in receipts for the engine. Most of the parts were purchased from Hamilton Clark.

Also I am considering selling the freshly built T-56 (receipt for $4.5K and good for 550lb/ft).

I will arrange truck shipping (buyer covers all costs) and I will consider Paypal.

$4000 OBO

I would buy this for myself, if I wasn't restructuring my business at the moment.

Thanks guys, thats kinda what I figured. I was just throwing it out there as a thought.
I will start to stock pile parts latter this year for a build. Now I have to find a builder.

Jeff that looks nice and all but wouldnt it be fairly expensive to convert it back? I meen since its a dry sump that would indicate it eaither has no pump gear in it or if it does its still the plastic one. With my built motor I want the metal gear for the oil pump and I thought all the chains and crap had to come off to get to it?

Dry sump pump is driven off the crank with a cogged belt, note yellow cogged pulley on the front of the crank/harmonic balancer, also this will keep the motor from oil starvation during high corning G's
