So ever since I owned the 98 it has taken a couple seconds to start. Even if I prime it first it still takes just over a second to start. A couple days ago it started starting instantly all the time. Primed, not primed, warm or ice cold it always started in under a second. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth I dicided to just enjoy it working right. Yesterday and today I noticed when passing the car barks the tires so hard going into third that the traction controll kicks in. Curious I turned off the TC and passed again and it sidestepped into third! The car definatly pulls harder in all gears but first and second are like a different car!

Got to an old empty back road thats straight for miles with a perfect view and I just stopped it and did a few launches. If I launch from 1200 RPM with the selector in second it leaves two fat and beautiful twin marks and just boils the tires all through first and then it shifts into second and continues to light them up to 60 MPH. Then when it shifts to third it breaks them loose for another 10' or so and just thrusts foreward like a freight train!

I had to stop and try it again..... and again and man was it a blast! Felt like a 16 year old kid again with a fresh license and the first lone drive in the Mustang GT I had! Could not beat the smile off my face. And the sound! The sound of the 32v at 6300 RPM was just so intoxicating! I love my land yacht! I love scaring the hell out of my friend taking a sharp 25mph corner at 65 and exiting at 75 and the car not even step out. This car is one hell of a sleeper!

She pulls to 110 just killer but looses allot of thrust when it hits 4th gear. Hope opening up the exhaust will help it some. Besides headers and a blower I have pretty much done everything you can do without cracking the engine open. :(

Yup, when we did the gears. Put in a 255lph. After I did that the car started a little quicker but no where near how quick the 97 or my friends 93 starts. I knew something was up but had no idea what.

So.....I take it you like the 3:73 gears? :D
Love em! But the car didnt act like this a few days ago. Its like something was holding it back before and no no longer is.

glad its starting better

and dude, holy crap that ride was FUN.. i wanna ride in yours again soon.. i cant wait to get 3/73s in mine, a tune would be nice and -caugh- an exhaust
i couldnt believe how well it held that corner, was amazazazing , ill admit i was scared a bit, but seriously...wow...my Tokikos need to hurry up so mine will handle like that, i felt my rear end sliding and bouncing all over 35 tonight
i bet yours is gonna be hell on wheels after the jmod and TC

Under drive pully get and electric water pump. They say it don't performane but get a single blade throttle body. Maybe a griffen radiator for faster cooling. U have a bigger fuel pump. Some people like getting bigger injector. Get a bigger MAF ( lighting maf are pretty cheap 90mm ). Imrc deletes.

Think Bill needs some alone time guys!

Maybe it was just taking longer to start because you were daydreaming about 373's every time you got in your Mark !

The only mod you listed I would consider would be an electric water pump but I cant justify that cost and power drain. I dont want underdrive pullys because I drive at night allot and with the HID's, A/C, stereo and cooling fan running at a stop light makes me leery of underdriving the alt.
Dont need a bigger rad as the Marks rad is great and the cooling fan is more then adequate. My car rarley even needs to run the fan at night and I have never heard it go into high speed mode. A bigger injector, MAF and T-body is all useless at this power level. The injectors will handle 60 more HP then I am making and the MAF meter in these cars can read 400 rwhp just fine so I am not anywhere near its limits. Throttle body gives the illusion of doing something because it lets more air in at a lower TP. So the car feels snappier but really isnt. Again the throttle body on there will handle a mild blower so my NA application is not taxing it eaither. Besides, single blade TBs suck for a DD thats in traffic, car looses its smoothness.

I am all for mods but not ones that wont help the car do something better.

Just install the crank pully that what a lot of guy do. I did all three and didn't have no problem with surgin the car some raise the idle a bit

I put underdrive pulleys on mine and dyno'd it immediately before and after. I also had about 220 or so timeslips dated before the pulley change. The only (and I mean only) change that was measurable in any way was:

1) I had some new shiny parts on the front of my engine.

And 2) the car no longer charged properly at idle.

Back to the original topic, it would be nice to know what changed but in the meanwhile... Enjoy it!

If I were to formulate a theory I would suggest that maybe something changed with your MAF. A single speck of dust can really cause some detrimental performance problems.

i have clean maf before and notice a difference in the rev sound....electrical cleaner spray on the sensor and the maf connection......

Yeah but did you have a piggyback style like bbk etc or did you have a Steeda pulley that is SFI approved and non-piggyback style? There is a big difference!
