Shocks

So Im going to replace the rear shocks on my Mark this weekend. I was wondering what a good inexpensive aftermarket shock would be for these cars.

I bought these for my 95 and haven't had any problems at all out of them. I asked for Thunderbird rear shocks and bought stainless steel shock mounts from Jamie. All the rattle I had going on in the rear is silent now. Lifetime warranty and didn't take any time to do the swap.

If you ask for Mark VIII rear shocks, the price jumps like crazy.

Inexpensive to top of the line what fits..
Which ones are adjustable...
Bushing and mount kits that work...
I'm in the market for rear shocks, I'd like a set I can adjust when I really want to drive.
A buddy of mine had an rsx that he installed coilovers all the way around on that had the electric servos/dash control so you can dial it in for the road conditions.
I don't need anything that extravagant.... but options would be nice.

I wonder if anyone makes magnetorheological shocks for the Mark VIII. They're all over the place in high-end sports cars and luxury sedans now. It would be interesting to see how a set of those would perform on a Mark...

So I got into looking at my shocks yesterday and well they are bad (Original Motorcraft shocks). But I found out my sound in the rear, right shock mount was toast. But the question I have to ask is what the heck is that big connector that sits on top of the shock?

93's and early 94's had them. Just unhook it and get normal rear T-Bird shocks.

Since I did not have new shock mounts for the car I made my own and it works with the factory mount. Here are pics.

I took this... A Energy Suspension polyurethane bushing from Performance Suspension(p/n 2225).

Put it in the factory mount.

Then put it on the shock and it works

All for the low low price of $4.00 I have a working shock mount.

Now the only down side is that the lower shock bolt dose not fit in these piece of crap, f:q:q:q:q:qg Monroe shocks! I guess this is where Home Depot comes in to car work
