RotorPros Brake Package Special GB...

Were there any install issues? Was the original brake fluid in the Lincolns synthetic? I plan on using synthetic when I do the swap?

That's what I'm hoping to use too. DOT4 synthetic. That's what comes with the brake upgrade kit from lskoncepts.

Ms. LS, did you get the posi quiet pads, or the ceramics?

I think its Valvoline that makes a synthetic that you can mix with regular. I plan on draining it all first but I will still use that to be safe. I have used it before on my bike with no adverse affects. The benefits of the synthetic are too great not to.

* Low-moisture formula provides excellent vapor lock protection
* Maximizes ABS performance
* Ideal for hydraulic and disc brakes
* Surpasses specifications SAE J1703, FMVSS No. 116 and DOT 4 Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid
* Minimum wet boiling point is 311°F

Part No. 601457
Size: 12 oz. (354 ml)

How to Use

1. Follow vehicle manufacturer's recommendation when adding brake fluid.
2. Keep brake fluid clean and dry. Contamination with dirt, petroleum products or other materials may result in brake failure or costly repairs.
3. Store fluid in original container. Keep container clean and tightly closed to prevent absorption of moisture.
4. Do not refill container or use for other liquids.

I don't think it will peel paint off either.

is there a proper method for draining all the old fluid and replacing it with new fluid somewhere? I understand that vehicle with ABS are more difficult

I was just going to let gravity do its trick and while I painted the calipers. Then bleed of the system the old fashioned way. I would love to see a write up if there was one.

I got the ceramic, but the brand was posi quiet also.

I paid for a brake fluid flush but I found a few articles on brake fluid flushing. I don't know which one is better, I just scanned through them:

BMW but should still work http://www.dvatp.com/bmw/diy/brake_fluid_flush/

Quick LS did a nice write up in the TECH ARTICLES, Stop Tech Stainless Steel Brake Line Installations and gives a easy to follow instructions on bleeding lines.

I have seen that one but that is for bleeding...I think we (At least I am) looking at how to completely flush out the old fluid and replace with new fluid.

Re-read Quick LS instructions, he talks about flushing the system. Flushing is bleeding with more fluid, take a turkey baster and suck out the brake master cylinder and fill with new fluid first and bleed as instructed each wheel until fluid runs clear and remember to top off master cylinder after each wheel to be safe.

Finally got mine installed...

Did the Rotors/Pads/Brake lines and even did the G2 treatment to my calipers. I am going to do a writeup for those that are going to do this whole package. Will have that done soon. Here are some pics of the final install...

Received The Brakes Today

I received the brakes lines and rotors today everything went smooth. All the parts look good. I will be installing them next weekend. I will take some before and after pics.

Mine are en route right now! Shipped yesterday. Being delivered tomorrow.

To those that haven't already installed them, I'm going to be painting the brake dust shield behind the rotor with some black high temp paint. I think it'll really make the rotors look nice, as I 've seen other members do that. Just a suggestion.

Did any of you upgrade the brake fluid to DOT 4 sythetic too?

I plan on upgrading to dot 4 Synthetic. If I do mine before you get yours done I will let you know how it goes. I just topped of the bike brakes so I had it out, its Valvoline Synpower Brake Fluid. I know it "Exceeds DOT 3 & DOT 4" because it says so right on the can.

Whats the advantage of ceramic pads. I'm going to get the package, but I don't know anything about brakes.

Cermaic pads are better if you race your car. They perform better under heavy braking. Otherwise, they glaze over and squeal every time you step on the brakes.

The other advantage to ceramic pads is they have next to no dusting. I'd rather wash the wheels once a week and have quiet brakes though.

Some have had ceramic brakes with no complaints. But I didn't want to take the chance of the annoyance of the squealing, and just bought the low-dusting semi metallics.

I have heard from Rich at Rotorpros that the ceramic padss can wear the rotors faster than the semi-metallic ones.

Mike, what G2 treatment are you talking about? I see you painted your's black. Nice choice.

Thanks for the info. I don't race my car at all and the slightest little squeak will drive me crazy. I wash my car at least twice a week so the dust isn't a problem. I'll be going with the semi-metallic

No problem.

And NICE LS, man. You keep it nice and clean. I see you even wash the barrels of the wheels. Nice job!

Dammit. Mail just came. No package  Oh well, should be here tomorrow.

I believe mine came via fedex...

As far as brake squeal, let me point you to these sites that explain why ceramic is preferred:

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=88
http://www.hawkperformance.com/performance/ceramic.php

These are just a few. Remember to use a disc brake quiet substance on the backside of the pads and you should be fine. Also, remember to follow a proper brake bed-in procedure:

The G2 Treatment I used is the G2 Caliper Epoxy which is better that just painting the calipers. Since I was removing my calipers to add the SS lines anyway, I thought it would be a great time to get this done. After doing this, I also sprayed them down with some High temp clear coat paint from autozone. to shine them up a bit more. One warning with this...They need to dry up before putting them back on or they will still be a bit sticky to the touch. I recommend removing them, doing the G2 and allowing them to dry for several hours before putting back on. Maybe even the use of a heat lamp or hair dryer will aid in this. Unless they can bake in the sun for a while. It was a little cooler when I was doing them, so baking was taking too long and they were a little tacky to the touch.

I got the kit here and had it in a few days time: http://www.wheelskin.com/g2_brake_caliper_paint.html Use the 5% off coupon listed

He sent mine USPS. Otherwise he said UPS or Fedex would've taken like 5 days.

I've read all those articles about ceramic pads. I'm sure it's probably me being too paranoid because of the problems I've read about other guys having with them. I'm sure a lot of ceramic pad users are very happy. I just didn't want to chance it, and basically relayed the other guys' complaints in one of my previous posts about brake squeal.

That is good he worked with you on the shipping so you can get your brakes...

Sorry if that post about the ceramics seemed directed at your comments above, but was more of an answer to the previous poster's question regarding them.

Just got the packages. I'm missing 2 rotors :(

Just left a message for Rich. Hopefully it just didn't make this delivery route, and I'll see them monday. When they shipped USPS, I got a pair of rotors in one box, and the pads and lines in another box. Hopefully there is a box #3 still on the way...
