One problem down a million more to go...

Maybe just replace the nut between the steering wheel and the drivers seat

Nah, that's already been deemed faulty. There's not much we can do to fix that :shifty::D

Besides, Jamie saw first hand that I can make things short out by my mere presence....(his street light kept shorting out when I stood near it, which he said doesn't normally happen there). ;)

Derek, if I were you I'd stop where you are and take it someplace and have them diagnose all of these things. Potentially (worst case) you've got a bad trans, some nasty front end problems and some sort of air/fuel issue. If you've got to do those three things, you might be spending close to what a good running VIII would be. I know Jamie said do one thing at a time, but maybe just figure out if this car is still worth fixing at this point. I know you've got a lot into the car but the fact is sometimes you have to know when to cut your losses. I'm not saying it can't be fixed but for your sanity consider it.

Ok so I took her out now at 1am to see if the weather had any bearing on how it drives. For whatever odd reason it pulled very very fast in the cold weather. I thought I noticed a difference the other night when I used it too. I know cooler air makes a car run faster...but this is a difference of pulling like a caravan, to pulling like a mustang. Air shouldn't have that much of a difference, nor should it effect how the tranny feels.

Fuel I'm going to look at. I'm also going to call SCT tomorrow to find out how to datalog my car so that will help too.

The stumble is still their however, and seems to be more pronounced the longer the car runs. So temps didn't effect that.

As for the steering Jamie when I turn to the left it takes a half turn to make a 90* turn, turning to the right however takes me turning the wheel 1 1/2 revolutions to make the same turn. I also noticed that the feeling I'm getting is almost like something is buckling...almost how it feels when a tire is about to come off.

Here's some of my thoughts for the stumble:

Bad ground or power wire

Oil? because as mentioned the RPM's stay higher for much longer than before so I think for whatever reason the oil pump isn't working the same. (switch to full synthetic now that all gaskets are new)

Coil?

Ya know I didn't really consider that you could very well be a total flamer...but now i do

Didn't you know that on Thursdays I wear pink shirts with holes cut around the nipples? That's not flaming is it? :shifty: Seriously though....getting back on topic....

You have a bad rack...
Your :q:q:q:qing fuel pump is too short!! That is your stumble...go FILL the tank with premium unleaded (93 oct)
a good test of this is a 30mph right 90* turn, if you have about 1/4 or less, the car will fall on it's face until the fuel shifts level again...
yes, use synthetic oil, I prefer Mobil1, with Lucas additive

I think your right on 2 of the 3, but the tank is 1/2 full right now, and it did it even after it was completely full. I thought of that too from others reports. DLF says his doesn't have any issues and I did my setup the exact same as his. So that's at least one thing we can rule out...(that is assuming the fuel test goes ok tomorrow).

Well I know that's how mine acts when I'm nearly out of gas because I have a rigged up pump, I'm not exactly sure what kind of pump mine is, but I know it's shorter than a Marks by about 1/2 inch
and mine doesn't have the sock filter on it, just a screen in the center, mine studders bad when -slingblade voice- "there ain't no gas in it"

I've even tried altering the type of gas because I always use 93 octane, but when I dropped to 89 it seemed to not like it, so I switched back. I've got the SVT focus fuel pump. We swapped the internals to the stock basket like DLF did.

That's what's been done to mine, stock basket with spliced pump...my pump won't pull the bottom 1/8th of the tank

None of this sounds like TC problems. I think you have either made a mistake in drilling for the J-Mod or one of your actuators in the trans is sticking.

If the car pulls from a stop the TC is fine. You are having issues with one of the following: 1. Low trans pressure ( wrong hole drilled in J-Mod ) or bad EPC solenoid. Sucking air in the trans filter ( if you have enough fluid it shouldn't ever happen ) causing low fluid pressure. 2. A completely ruined shift band that slips under load. 3. Bad muffler bearings.

Yes his pump is fine. SVT Focus pump is just different enough from a stock Mustang pump that it fits well in our tanks.

I agree about the band slipping though. I would bet $100 that the trans had burnt fluid in it and tarnished everything. The fresh fluid is causeing it to slip and the reason it took over 100 miles is cause EVERY TIME you swap out burnt fluid to fresh t5rans fluid it takes 100-300 miles to start doing what yours is doing.

Never thought Jamie drilled the hole in the wrong spot. If he did then the issue would have started right away but as you said, it tokk a hundred miles or so.

So with the mushy suspention did you check the rear wheel bearings. The ones on my 93 went out the car gets very loose.

Definitely something to think about.

That very well may be. did your car feel like it was swaying all over the place when switching lanes?
