i'm actually excited about this car you guys wait and see how this car transforms in the next few weeks!!

is that red neck two tone leather
looks like it will be lots of fun
enjoy and good luck on the new car

i dont know someone put them in, i will clean em and sell them, greg you obviously have no idea what i am capable of, that carpet is so far from toast, you havent seen :q:q:q:q from me when it comes to a dirty interior, you'll eat your words soon!!

This so badly makes me want to yank the interior out of the 96, pull the carpet and power wash it while I have my father-in-laws power washer here and handy! I don't have to pull the dash to remove the carpet do I?

no but you will have to make one cut in it otherwise, the carpet geos behind the bracket on the trans tunnel that the dash is bolted too, you can reach way up under the dash and slice a 2 inch slice where the carpet goes around the bracket, you cant see this slice once you put it back in, otherwise, yank the dash!

I'm pretty sure I know where you are talking about, I pulled the dash back on the 97 when I did the blend door, I'll look at it sometime and see if I want to hassle with it right now. I still need to get the core support straightened back out before I worry about anything else. I never have even re-dyed that airbag that you sent me over a year ago. Right now my priorities are focused elsewhere. My baby girl will be here sometime within the next month, so I won't have time for much of anything else for awhile.

I super glued that piece with the seat controls on and its been holding up for a while now.. just glued, pressed.. then ran along the seem squeezing a ton in.. its slightly imperfect when you stare at it, but does the job and from a glance isnt noticeable at all.

i removed the switch from the panel and put a big ziptie between the switch and the cover, reinstalled the switch so it held the ziptie in place and looked under the seat and found a part of the frame to secure it on and viola it looks perfect

its actually not broken the clip is just pulled out, the seat track is junk anyway this weekend i will pull the seat and change the track and fix the panel when i put it back in. i got some more progress pics, i had to use my phone but this weekend i will get a bunch with my real camera.
door panel looks like brand spankin new.

and i know you cant tell with this picture but i cut and buffed the top half of the quarter panel and omg it looks like glass, better than my 97! this car is gonna be one sweet $1,500 dollar ride! i also finally got a strut in the right front that doesnt leak, took me 3 struts! i had 2 in my garage that we didnt know if they were good or not, now i know they are doo doo!

i put the center caps back in too, they are broken but they are wedged in good, just for now, max does have new ones so i will order 4. i am also getting a compressor from eddie in trade for a heap of cores. i hope i can be left alone this weekend because i plan to go balls to the wall and clean the piss out of it inside and out. buffing is gonna take some time though, i need to get a ballast for the neon also. gonna have to bug glitch again!!!

I may get shunned and kicked off this board, but I'm posting it anyways.......Am I missing something here? How was a broken 210k mile Mark VIII a deal at any price, no less $1.5k?

This has been killing me, but Jamie said, if you post something, you deserve responses? And everybody is praising this purchase?! Why?!

My response is, I've owned a 210k mile Mark VIII, and I drove it to 250,069 before it died for good, and that was with a newer motor and newer tranny rebuild........i.e. a 210k mile Mark is just about done (except in Tommy's case).

What am I missing? I understand you can fix these on your own, but just the parts alone are going to be thousands of dollars????

My 98 Mark has 97k miles, its barely worth $2.5k, and everything works, how is this car worth $1.5k+travel+repairs???

My experience includes driving Mark VIII's for 267,500 miles and 13 1/2 years.

Really, what am I missing????

Ken

your missing that this is ederly owned car, maintained like you read about, its a gorgeous car, it needs next to nothing, its not a beat up piece of :q:q:q:q like most 210k marks, and i dont know why you think that 200k the car is nearly dead, it all depends on who owned it and how it was treated, my buddies dad has a 1980 f-350 with 630,000 miles on the original 460 and not once has anyone been inside the engine, its on about its 4th transmission but the truck has hauled over a million lbs of limestone in the 30 years he has owned it and the truck still passes mass state inspection. see unlike alot of people here who are newish to the mark VIII i know a marks value by looking at it, i have been around more mark VIII's in the last 11 years than there are mark VIII owners on this site. when i look at a mark VIII, i could care less about the odometer, the odometer doesnt mean anything to me, i look at the car, i look at how it runs, i look at the people who owned it, i see whats been done, how its been done, i look at how they treated the car, all those things are how i base the value, this car doesnt even have a single scratch or knick in the steering wheel, how many can say that about their 100k mile marks? the value of a mark VIII to me goes way deeper than the odometer. my 97 lsc has 160k on it, i could easily put it on ebay right now and get 5 grand for it all day long, with everything that has been done to it and the way its been treated and kept up, who cares what the odometer says. i have seen many marks with over 200k that werent worth scrap, i know the difference. my first mark VIII had 197k on it when i retired it for my black 98 lsc, i paid 3,600 for it in 2003 with 189k on it, does this look like a 197k mark VIII?

you are however entitled to feel how ever you want, i just know this car is worth every penny i paid and then some!! if it wasnt, i wouldnt have bought it.

whats funny is how many people brag they have 44k, or 50k, or 65k and the car has a bad trans, oil leaks, air ride has been converted to springs, stupid :q:q:q:q, the cars with 130k, 150k even higher you know damn well if they are still on the street and still being driven most of the problems have been fixed already, all you guys who have hard ons for low mile mark VIII's can keep them, because i have seen tons of them, repainted already, hids are rigged with halogens and wires everywhere, lol it makes me laugh some of the things i see, oh but it has low miles, so what half the car is jerry rigged why are they like that if no one drives them everything should work perfect!
its a progress thread for a reason, just keep checking in and see what 1,500 bucks bought me, a few weeks from now it will look like the 3,500 dollar car that it runs and drives like, nothing some wax and a vacuum cant do, i wont have dick in this car for money, and not becuase i have tons of parts, i dont need to put many parts into it, thats another difference between a 1,500 dollar mark i buy, and a 1,500 dollar mark joe blow buys, huge difference!!! ok i'm done going on and on now i'll get back to the progress.

I have one with 225k and one with 55k.... both drive pretty close to the same... the 225k one needs some stuff but it runs and drives good.

diesel dan drove my 97 lsc today from my house to my shop, he followed me in the 98 so i could get it there to work on it instead of at home, ask him what he thinks about my 160k mile mark VIII, i know he has never driven one that felt like mine i'll guarantee that!

That car looks awesome Jamie! I'm sure when you're done the inside will look as nice as the outside.

There's a couple different ways of looking at it. How little is the car worth? I would think that the average car payment has to be around $400/mo. When he's done if he has $2000 - $2500 in it and he drives it a year, he got his moneys worth. If he bought it to resell, I can see your point. Most people think that once a car hits 100k it is done. He bought it to use it. If it blows up, he will get his money back in parts. I think that any car that has working A/C and will drive from NC to Fla without a problem has to be worth $1500 any day of the week. I bought Jamies 93 last week for $900. I bought it to get out of a $485/mo. car payment. It has 135k on it. I drove it 4 hours, 311 miles home and it performed flawlessly. If I drive it three months and it dies (and it won't) it paid for itself. The car is so clean I could probably get $900 for it with a dead motor or trans! Thanks again Jamie.

176k here, millage aint nothing but a number bought her with 78k

227k on my exploder bought with 125k

and ill drive either one anywhere at anytime
