i'll see if I can maybe come up with some different tires... Maybe i'll throw those michelins on the front... Couldnt really see what they looked like till I put air in them...
 
so whats wrong with them dry rotted? if they are just not great for tread thats fine but if they are dry rotted i dont know how safe they are driving back 580 miles. i wonder if i could fit 4 tires in my back pack on the plane!!!

If youre flying over water you might get away with telling TSA that they are a life preserver. HAHAHAHAHA
 
hey, dan planned this very well trust me, he is coming back here, he knows i have a much larger shop than i used to have, he is doing all this work so he can play in my shop and force me to do all kinds of work on his mark VIII, i know the first thing he's gonna make me help with is the dash swap lol! but thats ok, i'll do it after all this work for me! i am greatful for everything you have done dan.

Really man, don't mention it. I have always considered you a friend. Yes, I probably will make you help me swap my dash, but atleast this time you will have someone in your shop that can carry their own weight with a wrench :D But anywho, this stuff is all easy, and its just kinda gave me something to do, so I don't mind. Also, I was thinking about the tires a little bit today, its not that they are real dry rotted or anything, and the tread isnt bad for a drive down, but I think its just they look old. They soaked the tire shine up like they had never even been sprayed before. I think i will put those good michelins back on the car, and find 2 more good tires so that I feel confident that the car will make it to FL safely.

Just think Jamie, where else can you achieve a speed of 525 - 600 mph in perfect safety. All the while sipping on a jack and coke. With all the whiz bang gizmo's these days, you can watch a movie or play games, or even bring your laptop. You know, wifi! And as an extra bonus, you can see the clouds from the top side. HEll, you might even fly thru one! Did I mention that the skin of the pressurized airplane is about .020" thick at most points.
 
I just checked prices on one ticket from Tampa to Charlotte, NC. and if he's flying like I think he is, there were no tickets below $620.00 (each @ today's price).

Damn the price went up. I flew to Tampa where Jamie picked me up at for a little over $250. No need for first class on a flight that short. The lowest I could find from Tampa, FL. to Charlotte, NC was $618, one way. One month ago, that same flight was $255 and that could have been up until last week. Labor Day must have jacked up the prices.

My estimate on his cost, if he bought two tickets would be right at $1300.00. I would have flown alone and paid for a hotel one night and saved over $500.00 but that's just me. Work could be rushing him back and no time for hotel stays.
 
terry what the :q:q:q:q are you looking up lmao wow i wouldnt want to fly your plane. the tickets were 130 each it cost 260 total. doesnt seem like much now compared to terry's findings but when i factor in 2,200 dollars in rent and utilities, plus the car, plus plane tickets, gas and food, its the beginning of the month, its always a horrible time for me to do anything! i just hope to god it makes it all the way back with no problems i cant afford any problems on the drive home that would be bad.

Maybe that's the reason they were cheap, idk but the price you found them at can't be beat. That was a damn good deal and normally, it's one plane straight from Tampa to NC but you might have tickets for a stop in between. I wished I could have flown down to you for $130 lol. Mine was $250 to $270 with one stop in Atlanta I think. I was happy to finally get there and see palm trees. It was February and still cold out but when I got down there, it was like summer.
 
Something I forgot to mention, I installed new valve stems in the rims too... Also, don't worry about the tires, I will come up with something better. I am gonna reinstall the 2 good michelins, and then find 2 more good tires to throw on that thing. i don't want you to have to do anything to it. Hell, if the compressor and stuff all goes well, your wife could probably start DDing it as soon as you get down there, just do the BJs when you get a chance.

lol i'm making you my personal shop bitch dan, those look better than the ones in my 97!
does anyone live near dan who wants to lend me an hid bulb till i get home, i am going to put aftermarkets in it anyway, but driving back with 1 low beam is gonna suck, its asking to get me pulled over too. would anyone in the north carolina area want to donate one for a 9 hour drive and i will ship it back! dan you can stop anytime, dont kill yourself over the car dude you have done far too much already!
 
All that I have left to do will be to reinstall the michelins on the front, install the compressor when it gets here, and then I will check the toe on the alignment machine. I was going to do a full alignment, but it would be a waste because the upper ball joints are shot. Can't believe its gonna be wednesday already, 3 more days and I'm gone... /sigh
 
ah come on its gonna be better for you in the long run nothing to be sad about, well being away from robyn will be sad but just think of the kids you guys will make when she gets down here!!! i got a bulb, my buddy rich is sending me one tomorrow, he bought my 93, i'll bring it with me and install it before we leave. i'll forward you the flight info danno we leave tampa at like 8:40 and it said 1 hr 40 minutes to charlotte but i'll give you the exact time and flight number and crap. what did i tell you for a price on all that black crap didnt i say 150? i gotta get the money together for you and gas and all that happy horse shiz so i know what i got! i think i owe you 300 right? and a reach around too after all this work lol.
