I finally started my 97 up yesterday for the first time since the 4th of this month. So it's been out of commission for about 3 and a half weeks now. I don't know if any of you remember, but I sucked up a bunch of water into the intake and seized the engine. About a week later I found a 98 engine with 67k miles on it at a junkyard. I bought the engine on the 15th, started working on replaceing it on the 22nd, and finally was able to start it up yesterday. I haven't driven it yet though.
It's currently still on the lift and has a few things left to do on it. I've got to tighten up on the front suspension bolts, put the wheels on it and reconnect the steering column inside. Oh, and the wiper cowl needs to be put back on. I'm not exactly sure why the book had me take that off, but it was a pain in the ass.
I would say it started right up the first time I tried, but that's exactly true. Technically, the first time I tried, there were no spark plugs/coils in it, so it just spun real fast.
BUT, after installing the plugs/coils, it started right up. Didn't even take much cranking....maybe like a full second, but that was it. I was really surprised, mainly because I doubt myself a lot with big projects. (I always forget something!)
I don't think I ever want to do that again unless I take like a week off of work or something. I worked every day this week from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and then went to the place where the car is to work on it until 8:00pm when they close. I'm tired! The thing that sucks the most is that they have to charge me for every hour that my car was on the lift while they are open. Since they are open 11 hours a day, and it's $5 an hour, I've had to pay $55 each day that it was there. That sh!t adds up!.
I was gonna take pictures of the whole process, but forgot my camera every day except the first day, so there's not very many pictures that I can show you guys.
Anyway, I've got to go finish it all up and get it out of there. When I get back, maybe I'll tell you guys about how the car almost fell off the lift from 6 feet up!
