Im about to $%&!ing kill my Mark

Didn't think you'd have a filtration problem...we don't really have that here...ok buy water...-shrug-

Are water out here is so loaded with minerals Ive seen it clog a cars cooling system. Not pretty and the havoc it causes to the pluming in the house over time is ugly. Hard water blows!

I've had to burp my cooling system a couple times before I confidently got all the air out, and it took a while.

The best alternative is to have a vacuum refill tool that'll suck all the air out, unfortunately, that's one of the luxury tools I've never owned.

Use distilled water for mix.

i got one of those but you will still have to burp it through the crossover tube, i tried it on the thundermark and checked the crossover-empty. and believe me im a believer in the "air-lift" (aka vacuum filler thingie) ive used it on hundreds of cars and i love it just isnt perfect on our cars. all i had to fill was the crossover then it was ok but still

i would buy full strength coolant and a gallon of distilled water and mix it the % i want. still cheaper than premixed.

Just a quick thought ... but I'm guessing that this would cause the car to heat up much quicker ...

Did you put your T-Stat in correctly ... You didn't put it in up side down?

What's the best way to get the old coolant out of the block to get a real true flush and fill with a perfect mix?

That was the first thing I thought when I started this whole process. But it is in the correct way. I could not get it in the wrong way if I tried. But I pulled it out to look when I first did it and it was in correctly... Well I just got done burping it so I will post later I have some running around to do so we will see if it helped.

Well I guess I will have to be happy with O on the temp gauge. It did not change at all. I will try burping it on occasion. Some other problems came up when I was out today and must attend to those and track them down first.

What kind of thermostat did you put in it. Aftermarket or motorcraft. If you put in an aftermarket that is your problem. Look at the difference in size of the hole in the middle of the stat. Motorcraft is a lot bigger than any aftermarket stat out there.

Never though of that. I will have to look. Once I get my other problems buttoned down.

good catch! dmaup had 3 that were all runnin hot he tried a different brand and it was ok

Hey to add to this thread... One of the other problems Im having with the Mark is Im thinking my fuel pump is going out. When I put the hammer down she just stumbles untell I back out of it. If that sounds like fuel pump to you guys let me know. Also I am wondering what the GPH and PSI on a Mark pump should be.

Wow I mess with so many cars on a daily basis it's getting hard to remeber the specifics on just this one...
But I'm pretty sure Mark8 fuel pressure should be 32lbs...unless you have larger injectors

Yeah, I live in Mesa, AZ, so I'm familiar with the heat. I tried putting one of those 'store-brand' T-Stats once, they are JUNK! You'll definately have to take a trip over to Berge Ford in Mesa or Five-Star in Scotts. and get a Motorcraft one. When I filled, I ran the heater on 'full-blast', with the car still jacked up, considering air bubbles tend to go upwards outta the system, for like 20 mins. with a big funnel I screwed into the cross-over tube. Oh, and leave the over-flow cap off until the tank fills up, filling from the cross-over tube. I use a 50/50 mix of Prestone brand coolant, and I've never gotten above the halfway mark on my temp. gauge with the A/C on auto. at 65 deg. during the AZ summertime. Well, hope that helps and good luck!

Wow someone who lives in Mesa and understands my pain. I used a Stant t-stat. Never had a problem with them in the past. But I think in the next couple of days I will be getting a hold of Max to get a Motorcraft on. Max if your read this what is our price on that?

I have always used Stant T-stats without issue, but one thing I always do is drill a few small holes around the outside of it to allow for extra coolant flow.

I used Stant never had a problem on bone stock cars. But for some reason it just is not working on this bone stock car.

Just an update. I have showing up on Monday a high flow low temp t-stat coming from Summit. So hopefully that will cure my problem... Sapperfire you will be happy to know I am mixing my own coolant this time. And it is cheaper I saved about 10 bucks doing it.

Hypertech?

FWIW, 'O' is still normal. Mine does it all the time in the summer. Some T-stats run slightly hotter than others.
