ok so i might get some crap for starting a new thread even though theres one like almost below this one regarding tps. So my car shake like crazy when left sitting over night and i start it the next morning. I have to start it maybe about 5 time so it can stop doing that. After it settles down it idles real nice unless i rev the engine up real fast it staggers up to like 1300 rpm then its goes smoothly again. I know my tps is good. My iac is good kuzz the car works worse when i unplug it. I need help. Where do i look what do i do. Thanks for the help in advance

unplug your MAF sensor and see if you still have the problem. if you dont then clean your MAF. and if cleaning it dosnt help, then buy a new one. also how old are the plugs and plug wires. also the fuel filter?

when you unplug it, it goes into a back up mode. thats how you check your MAF

one thing i should mention is that my uncle took the flaps of the imrc plates so maybe its receiving more air than fuel so how would i correct that?

I am no expert but the common sense thing to do is put the flaps back on...

X-CAL 2 would work but find someone that has it and let them do it. As for the smog testing, I have no clue. I don't own a Gen 2 and don't live where there are inspections but you're going to eventually need to tune it or go to the for sale section and offer to buy a computer already tuned to your needs for a price. Once you get it, ship them your computer back as a core. Someone might do it.

First, unplugging the MAF will not tell you if its bad. A failing MAF is just not able to heat the sensor wire properly so it cant read right. An unplugged MAF puts the car into limp mode and bypasses the MAF in its base fuel curves.

So, you took the plenum apart to dismantle the IMRCs. So so so many things wrong here.
One is why? It offers no performance gain at all except to reduce lower RPM power.
Did he replace the upper and lower plenum gaskets when he did this? Also, how did he seal the holes in the IMRC plate now that there is no longer a shaft or actuator on it?

The very first thing you should have said when describing your issue is "Hey, the entire plenum has been ripped apart and now the car runs like crap" as to allow people here to point you in the right direction.
I am 90% sure you have a vac leak. If not in the gaskets then from the holes in the IMRC plates.

BTW, your car is now running dangerously lean below 3200 RPM. To delete IMRCs you need a tune. The heads flow double the amount of air (well are capable of anyway) with the IMRCs open, cars OEM tune is not designed to calculate flow for both intake valves at lower RPM. B heads have very low port velocity, thats why they have IMRCs so they can increase that port velocity at lower engine speeds.

its my belive he only took the flaps of not the shaft or actuator. Gasketss were replaced. My guess is the easiest thing would be to put the flaps back in?

Problem 1- you do not know WTF you are doing

Problem 2- you let someone else touch your :q:q:q:q and both of you did not know WTF was going on

Problem 3- 2 wrongs sure as hell does not make a right.

Did your uncle work on your car because you had a problem and he was trying to fix it, or did you buy this car from your uncle after he tinkered with it, and you don't know the car's history? I'm just curious if you had a problem before the intake was removed...

Sounds to me that there is 2 cars and someone was trying to make 1 good one out of 2.

Either way, you need to put back what was there and see if problem is resolved.

Was there a problem before whoever took the covers off, if not, why did you allow someone to screw with it?

i bought the car from my mom she the second owner. She bought the car in 98. The car works great with the flaps back on. Honestly yeah we didnt know wtf we were doing and i :q:q:q:qed up by not asking for advice in advance. We know about engines just :q:q:q:qed up on th imrc plates. Thats it. To fix my problem all i have to do is just replace the imrc plates i know that now. i myself have owned the car for 3 years make sure its in tip top shape just got curious about deletes and :q:q:q:qed up.

Lesson learned. These engines are a bit different from what most people are used to. As far as entry airflow Ford pretty much made them as good as they can get for a NA motor. Exhaust could be much better but MAF, T-body, airbox and IMRCs are about perfect for any power level up to 350 rwhp.

yea i learned my lesson. And like some people say sometimes its better to make mistakes with your own things because of the amount of money ull spend repairing it will teach u not to :q:q:q:q up again
