I push my brake, and my wheel and car go right... Not slightly.. It completely pulls to the right. Pull might be an understatement... Violently jerks itself is more appropriate.

What to do what to do!??! This is my new project because I am convinced my brake has something to do with the crappy idling.. and well, that tick I think it nothing and I am driving myself nuts.

strut rod bushings and / or upper control arms.

Stupid guy at PepBoys who did my alignment said it was the brake sticking? He also told me this AFTER I paid for my alignment... what a nice guy.

To support his claim i do hear a "WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO" when I start to slow down...

jack the car up, step on the brake, release the brake, then get out and see how hard it is to spin both front wheels by hand, if the brake is hanging up, most lekly you wont be able to spin the wheel/wheels

Sounds simple enough - This shall be my project tonight!

I really need to invest in one of those hydraulic jacks, cause the little manual one the car came with can kiss my fuggin ass on these hot 90 degree nights.

Now lets say hypothetically its sticking... Would that explain the "Whoom-whoom-whoom" noise, or would that be a warped rotor? I mean, I guess I could take it off, lay it flat and see.. but since the previous owner said these were fairly new (and the appear to be so) I dont know if I want to push my knowledge of cars to fiddle with the BRAKING system LOL =/

when you get ready to fix anything I'll walk you thru

yes the woo woo woo sounds like warped rotors..laying it flat on a table won't tell you anything, you need a micrometer and a lathe to check lateral runout , a warped front rotor you should be able to feel it in the steering wheel, it'll shake back and forth, rear disk or drum warpage will be felt more in the seat like a thumping.

You can check the calipers as stated above, to check for drag, but also place your hand on the lower control arm to feel for any possible bearing vibration, grab the wheel with your hands at top and bottom while it's still bolted on, and shake it like your trying to wiggle it loose, that method will be checking both ball joints, roll the wheel 90* so your hands are left and right and repeat wiggle to check inner and out tie rods, you can check the sway links, and struts by lifting on the wheel with both hands...

Your problem could be one or more of several things, binding caliper, internally broken hose on either side (which would create a flapper valve), and brearings can cause a pull, also ball joints

get the car up and take pictures, or tell me where you're located and I can send you to one of my shop for a free visual inspection

Im not going to lie that photo creeped me out LOL...

Ill get the bit*h up and take some pics tonight if Im not too lazy. Im not sure how it ties together with the bad idle, but Im thinking I might have dinged the brake line (mechanic at pepboys mentioned it looked a little fiddled with) and maybe its got air or something in it?? I dunnnoo.. but im determined to get to the bottom of it!

Hey man, I was takin a nap when that picture was taken...had just woken up right as they snapped it

if your line was kinked while you had the brakes under pressure, it would always pull to the direction of the lane dive,
if you've got air I'm the system your brake pedal will be spongey, also with a ruptured line to allow air in, you will be loosing fluid as you apply the brakes and push it out with pressure, and then suck in air as you let off the brakes, if that's the case your brakes will completely fail due to lack of hydraulic pressure, at that point the only way to stop will be the parking brake, gravity over time, slam it in park...or hit something

Ahh ok, so basically we are ruling it down to stuck caliper, or warped rotor...

Ehh, I really REALLY dont wannna Jack this whore up :(

Sorry, that made me laugh. You won't see a warped rotor with your naked eye, you need a dial indicator. The warpage will be thousanths of an inch. Jack the car up and grab the front wheels and put your hands at 12 and 6, then 9 and 3. Give it a good shake, see if it moves around.

i'm telling ya my money is on the strut rod bushings and/or the upper control arms, when a mark VIII dives that extreme when braking 9 times out of 10 its the strut rod bushings, or the upper comtrol arm bushings, or a combo! i have rebuilt so many front ends on marks due to this very reason, pulling!

If you don't want to jack it up, I suggest taking it someplace, describing the problems, maybe even print this thread and give it to them.

This could be a bit of work beyond jacking it up so you have to be prepared to dive in if you are going to replace strut rod bushings and do a brake job.

Or you could stop running over medians while you're drunk, and then coming on here asking our advice on what to fix, and then cryin about not wanting to jack the car up...take you Pansy A$$ somewhere else...you've already been banned under the name BodyByAAS

It doesn't matter what his problem is with his car, his bigger problem is not listening

Im beginning to think you guys are onto something. The jerking is getting so drastic its almost unsafe to drive now, and my rims dont appear to have any additional brake dust on them. I just took a shower (bad idea) let me go jack the car up and take some pics of the strut rod bushings and upper control arms

Take a pic of the whole car, I wanna see that pretty green 98 lsc with the backwards 10 spokes and Fl plates

Anytime I have taken a car in for an alignment and I had a bad control arm upper or lower they refused to do the alignment.

What's up with Pepboys if what is wrong are the control arms??? they should have noticed that

Yeah thats what I said, I guess they wanted the $70 instead of $20 for an estimate.... The bastards :(

pep boys was your first mistake who the hell goes to pep boys for anything besides neon lights and bobble head dog air fresheners. i wouldnt go to pep boys if i broke down outside and needed to use the phone!

Haha this is kind of what happened :( They were cheap and I only expected to give them 20 bucks to use their lift, and check under there myself while the merchanic told me what he THOUGHT was wrong. When he said nothing, and I didnt see anything bent or busted I figured, meh..why not!

He was also banned under another name. I thought you jumped the gun but now the evidence adds up.

97 Evergreen LSC, new Moog end links with the same looking desintergrated lower ball joints. And that car is not nearly rusty enough to be a Northern car.

I hope its not the case though. 97MarkVIIILSC seems to be brighter then BodyByASS. That guy was just the most worthless POS to ever have existed.
